The communication throughout the process was transparent and consistent. As for the home itself, the build quality is outstanding — the finishes are sharp, the structure feels solid, and the handover was seamless.

ever feeling pushy, to Belinda and her excellent prestart care and suggestions. She made lots of good suggestions that I took on board and incorporated into my build. Laura has been very attentive to my emails and communicates the different stages and upcoming tasks, expectations and timeframes. She has been an absolute joy to have on my team. Steve I only met for the second time today, and I was pleased with the meeting. I feel very reassured with him leading the trades teams.
I was very happy with the the quality of finish the tradesmen produced, and think they did a fantastic job with my new home.

Our journey with New Choice Homes began in 2023 with genuine enthusiasm and trust. At the time, we were based in New Zealand, and [Name Removed], the sales representative, was incredibly helpful. His support and communication made the process feel seamless from overseas, and we developed a strong sense of trust early on. In the initial months,… Read more
things progressed reasonably well despite a high turnover of Client Liaison Officer, we dealt with at least four to five different staff members, which did make communication inconsistent. Our original site manager appeared knowledgeable and reassuring. However, without any notification to us, a new site manager was assigned, and this was where issues began to surface.
As the build progressed, we found ourselves questioning multiple aspects of the work, and on several occasions, we were not given truthful explanations. While the house was ultimately completed, the workmanship was disappointing. All walls around the window frames developed visible cracks, resulting in an uneven and unfinished appearance. There were also noticeable gouges on our doors, which fell well below what we expected from a professional build.
We were also promised compensation of $400 per week for up to five weeks if the build exceeded the 10-month guarantee. Unfortunately, when the build did go beyond this timeframe, various excuses were raised to avoid honouring this commitment, despite the guarantee’s fine print not outlining such exclusions.
Another major concern was the expectation that we make full and final payment at key handover, even though numerous defects were identified afterwards. We believe it would be far fairer to allow a 10% retention until all issues are resolved, as placing the full financial burden on the customer leaves little leverage for rectification.
While we were initially impressed with New Choice Homes, the overall journey did not align with our expectations. Ultimately, our disappointment lies in the quality of workmanship and the lack of accountability towards the end of the build.

The prestart process was efficient and well-organized. The client liaison, Althea Brennan, offered valuable guidance in selecting colour themes, and now that my build is approaching completion, I can see how well these choices complement the overall design of the home.
While there have been a few minor defects during construction, I am confident these will be addressed prior to handover. Overall, I am satisfied with the quality of workmanship and communication from the client liaison during construction and look forward to the house being finished.

slab. This issue was caused by a different developer and took several weeks to sort it out.
The brickie started after the slab went down, he worked alone and very quickly, was also the tidiest brick layer I have ever seen.
All the tradies on the job were high quality builders and I cannot praise the end product enough.
One only final Hiccup was with the under driveway retic access pipe. We found it had not been laid down but Mark my build supervisor solved the problem and a new team came in and within the same day all paving issues were rectified.
Finally I would like to add that working with Mark my building supervisor and my Admin support Althea Brennan was always open easy and productive. Thankyou First Choice my home is fabulous and came in at the projected quoted price
Follow-up · The design works well and is solid and secure a few extra power points would have been good since we are now buying electric recliners. The builder co remain supportive and taken care of a door lock issue. Everything has come together nicely and I continue to support New Choice Homes as a preferred builder.

He was always happy to share ideas and offer suggestions that genuinely improved the vision we had for our home. What really stood out was that Damo’s support didn’t end once the paperwork was signed. He continued to stay involved throughout the build and was always just a phone call away. Whenever we had a question or ran into an issue, he was quick to help, whether that meant answering it himself or putting us in touch with the right person to get it resolved. Having someone who genuinely cared and stayed involved from the initial design right through to handover made the whole experience much less stressful and gave us confidence that we were in good hands.
Once construction began and the slab was down, Dean, our Building Supervisor, took over and continued that same level of service. From our first site walkthrough, he took the time to explain each stage of the build, what to expect, what to look out for, and how everything would come together. At every stage, Dean kept us updated on our progress, explained what was coming next, and gave us a realistic idea of the timeframes so we always knew what to expect. It was obvious from the start how knowledgeable he was, and he always took the time to answer our questions in a way that made everything easy to understand.
What stood out most about Dean was his attention to detail. He was always identifying the small things that needed to be adjusted or fixed before we even had the chance to notice them ourselves. It was reassuring to see how proactive he was, knowing those small details can make a big difference to the overall quality of the finished home.
During our Pre-Completion Inspection, Dean walked through the entire house with us and had already identified the items that required attention. He explained everything clearly, made note of anything that needed to be addressed, and ensured those items were rectified before our final inspection. That level of care showed he genuinely took pride in his work and wanted to hand over a home we’d be proud of.
Looking back, Damo and Dean made what could have been a stressful process feel much easier than we expected. They were both professional, approachable, and genuinely cared about delivering a quality home. More importantly, they made us feel supported throughout the entire journey, and that gave us a lot of confidence every step of the way.

She would also keep everything updated on the portal and always answer any questions we had (we had a lot) in a timely manner. Savannah also would make sure that all of our queries were answered and explained why if there was, any delays and why this was happening. Alex was our site supervisor and he was fantastic with giving us realistic timescales and always updating the portal so we could see the progression. We are so happy with our new home and would highly recommend new choice homes to anyone. Furthermore, as the company so proudly advised for me to contact them subsequent to his google review, I did so only to receive further excuses and the company not owning their shortcomings! An abundance of issues were raised and none of them addressed but rather pushed back on at every turn! Very deplorable indeed!

Fraudulent salesmanship - but decent workmanship – the salesman we dealt with, [Name Removed] was good until we realised he conned us. We conditioned our signing on getting a full render of the house thrown in. The contract said 'rendered front, rear and side elevations', but only the front, one side and a 1m section on the rear wall was rendered. Which meant half the exterior walls were not… Read more
rendered. When we contacted them they said that was the deal. At no point did we agree to a half render but we couldn't prove otherwise. We had to pay an extra 2500 for the house to be fully rendered. Which we did because as I had told the salesman, I would either go all render or none.
The other problem I had with them is getting injected carbon fiber insulation in the double brick walls, which is better for thermal insulation year round compared to the default product which is near enough useless. The boss would not let me do that, as he 'couldn't insure a product he didn't know'. I talked to him multiple times, gave him all the info. I called him multiple times over a period of three months. The fact that this technology is used in millions of builds in Europe and US couldn't sway him.
In the end, when we realised we had to pay an extra 2500 for the render, the boss 'accepted' we get the insulation put in to soften the blow. That attitude on top of the render rip off I think says a lot about the company. I did look at formal complaints at the ACCC but that is a lot of work and time I don't have right now.
Having said all of that, the site supervisor was a good bloke, the build quality was also good and ounce they started they built the 4x2 house in 7 months.
