Nylex Flextreme Hose Questions & Answers
VerifiedHi there. I purchased a Nylex retractable hose a few weeks ago. A chemical smell in the water is still overwhelming. Can you tell me what it is in the materials that is causing such a strong smell and if you're aware how long it may take to go? Thank you for your time!
Good Morning Loren, We would recommend first testing the hose on a different tap outlet to confirm if it is the hose or tap/pipes before the hose. If persisting we would recommend running the hose for 5 minutes straight to see if goes away.
If the issue continues, I would recommend contacting our friendly customer service team on 1300 381 559 or alternatively email us at nylex@amesau.com, so we can look into this issue you are having further.
Many Thanks, Nylex Customer Service
I would like to join two flextremes together for a longer hose which i need. Can this be done with a normal joiner?
Hey Peter, Yes, this can be done with a 2 way 12mm coupling. You should be able to find these through your local hardware store. See some of the Bunnings listings below: external link Kind Regards, Nylex Customer Service
Do Nylex Flexstreme hoses contain Phtalates? This is not mentioned at all in their Fact sheets. They may be lead and BPA free but Phtalates are a major concern for any hose user.
G'day Michael D, Below is all I could find not sure if it will answer your question but if not contact Nylex directly. 1300 381 559 or external link The Nylex Flextreme™ 20m 12mm Garden Hose has been engineered with a lightweight Flexible Hybrid Polymer to lie flat and eliminate kinking under pressure. It redefines flexibility, making it easy to manoeuvre around trees, bushes or other obstacles. Its zero memory means your sprinkler stays put with-out twisting and it doesn’t fight you when you coil it. This material is UV Protected to withstand harsh Australian conditions, is extremely lightweight and remains flexible across all weather conditions ranging from -20 to 60 degrees. Plus, the Flexible Hybrid Polymer inner tube material is lead and BPA free making it safe to water your herb and veggie patch.
Cheers, Puddle5ofMud!
Hey Michael,
We do not actively include phthalates in our products. Though none of our products have been certified to be phthalates free. This means we are unable to guarantee our products are phthalate free.
Kind regards, Nylex
Wouldn’t it be a good marketing move to get the hose certified?
Can you cut the hose for other connections
Good Afternoon David, Thank you for taking the time to review our product, I think we just spoke on the phone. But just in case, you can infact cut a Nylex hose down in size if you need. If you are after more in depth information or information regarding connection compatibility, I would recommend contacting our friendly customer service team on 1300 381 559 or alternatively email us at nylex@amesau.com Many Thanks, Nylex Customer Service
I haven’t had the need to cut mine, but a flextreme hose is like any other hose so I would cut it if need be. I have found the flexstreme hose to be far better than the cheap Holman hose. I understand that if you buy a Holman hose from Bunnings, they are made overseas specifically for Bunnings. They are a waste of money as they kink easily and split in cold weather. It’s far better to pay the extra for the flextreme. I have two and they have lasted over three years and don’t split.
My experience too! Not often I can say that I love a product (especially these days), but I LOVE MY FLEXTREME HOSE! Have a great day!
Does the Nylex fleXtreme Garden Hose taint the water, I am thinking of using it for my caravan?
I cannot comment on whether or not the flexstreme hose might taint water used for drinking. I would recommend you buy a drinking water hose from a camping store. I can say the flexstreme hose doesn’t crack in cold weather or kink in hot weather and is worth the extra money over a cheap H*lm*n hose.
Hello Evert, Thank you for your enquiry. Nylex Flextreme Garden Hose comes with the Flexible Hybrid Polymer inner tube material which is lead and BPA free, making it safe to water your herb and veggie patch. The product has not been tested to be safe for drinking water. If you have any further questions about our products, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service team at 1300 381 559 or nylex@amesau.com.
Kind regards,
Chi
