Light should come on when the door is opened. Light globe may need to be replaced.
I have my previous trim kit and the user manual for my new microwave says it should not be put in a cabinet. Well that is the reason I bought it so it would fit with my trim kit. Does anyone else have one in a cabinet or should it be on the benchtop?
Yes I have mine built in but it is directly above the oven so is in a ventilated cabinet. ie. there is air space behind the oven venting to the roof space. Im not qualified to give advice so i suggest you get a kitchen builer/ carpenter to advise on your situation. One reason I bought this model was because it has an internal fan that runs until cool. ie the fan continues to run for a while after the oven has finished cooking. This theoretically should help reduce heat and moisture damage to your cabinet. If you already had a microwave in that space you will probably be ok, I would check for heat damage from your old one and if none evident its probably safe to proceed. If in doubt ask a profesional.
Thank you so much for answering. I do have open space where the microwave is fitted so it should be OK. The vent on the microwave has changed to the side whereas before it was on top and had a cover allowing the air flow. Wait and see I guess. I won't be doing any cooking as such, the most I do is rice in a rice cooker. Regards Lee
Apparently Inverter microwaves shouldn't be built in unless there is a lot of cooling space around them. This might be the reason Panasonic have added the extended fan operation since a lot of inverters were getting "cooked"
