I built my first home with Redink Homes in 2020/21, and the experience was outstanding thanks to the exceptional service provided by sales consultant Steve Merrick. Steve guided me through every step of the process with professionalism and genuine care, making what could have been a daunting experience feel seamless and straightforward. Earlier… Read more

this year, I reached out to Steve again when my partner and I decided to build a second home. Given the competitive market and limited land availability, Steve went above and beyond to source a suitable house and land package within our specified budget. He kept us informed throughout and promptly presented us with the ideal opportunity as soon as it became available.

I highly recommend Steve Merrick and the team at Redink Homes for anyone looking to build. Their commitment to client satisfaction and personalised service truly sets them apart.

I’ve built twice now both with Steve at Redink and each time it’s been awesome so wanted to throw a shoutout. First time was back in 2020 when everyone was saying it would take forever but he was always upfront with timeframes and communicated all the time, just want you want as a 1st home buyer as it really made me comfortable with the process.… Read more

The house was built way quicker than most builders in the street anyway! The experience was so good and lucky I got in early because with the equity I made I was able to build with Steve again and it was another great experience. Seriously if you want to have a genuine and super helpful rep looking after you, you can’t get any better than him I reckon. Cheers for everything mate!

We appointed Redink to build our holiday retreat in the south west. As we were based in Perth we were apprehensive how we would be able to keep track of progress and managing the build logistically. Redink provided a fantastic customer portal which provided a status of the build with photos every step of the way. The build even though post COVID… Read more

and through skills and materials shortage - it has no impact on the overall project programme. The stand outs in their local team were Elliot Rowe who helped us design the most awesome farmhouse - always available to talk through the whole project, Client Liaison Lorrae Pratt & Georgia Hinkley- but the biggest shout out by far to our Construction Supervisor Victor Butera- he kept us fully informed throughout - the most honest and committed person in making this whole process all about us the Customer and a most exciting and enjoyable experience. Great work Redink- the most memorable Easter in 2025 getting the keys!!

Poor quality bush poles that look more like pine strainer posts – I was offered the choice of brick pillars or bush poles for the front verandah support. I chose bush poles but the poles installed are not at all of the quality I expected. I have seen lots of homes with bush pole posts that look lovely, smooth and add a feature to the home. The poles installed on my build by Redink are pine. They were already… Read more

very split when delivered to site. They have gouged sections protruding, multiple large splits, large gouged out indents from the machine used to pick them up and some very unsightly sections. My partner used to be a farm manager and said the timber poles installed are akin to farm strainer posts in quality. After much email correspondence and involving the sales rep, Redink did agree to replace these with what was in the original contract, being hardwood poles. I was excited as looking online at what WA suppliers offer felt sure they would be much better poles. When the 2 hardwood poles arrived on site they were worse. The invoice was with them for $400 so for hardwood poles at this price they are what you would expect. Redink did offer to order another lot of poles advising that they would most likely be the same or could even be worse in appearance. I declined the offer deciding that the very flawed pine poles that had already been installed would have to be the better out of the poor quality choice available. The poles were on site in June 2021. The build is still not finished. Redink advised that the timber poles are to be treated with oil every 6 months to inhibit further cracking but because they are yet to be stained they have not been able to be oiled at all in 9 months. I am very disappointed in the appearance of the poles SEE PICS. They look terrible and it is difficult to accept that this is what Redink is happy to install on my home when good quality, good looking timber poles are readily available. You only have to drive by a number of other project builders homes with timber poles installed to see the very obvious difference. I am sharing this, in particular the photos, so if you are building with Redink you know what you'll most likely get if you choose the option of bush poles for your home . If you would like to view these Im on Concerto Drive in Cowaramup.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER – Purchased a house and land package advertised by Redink, paid $5000 deposit $3000 for soil and surveys and the balance towards the home. Signed a Preliminary agreement that states $3000 is not refundable had no problems with that. Waited weeks and decided to contact the office 3 times with no response to find out what was going on. Received an… Read more

email from Administration saying that I could not build the house as there was a sewer easement on the land which nobody told me about even when I asked if there were easements when purchasing the block. There 2 options were take 2 mtrs off the whole side of the home or install pilons at a cost to me of $16500. I was devasted so I contacted the saleman that I dealt with and he told me he didnt work for the company anymore and had left over 3 weeks ago but said he was told of this issue when he left and was surprised that I was only just finding out. I was fuming so contact Redink telling them that their two options were not acceptable and why was I not informed earlier. Their response was the manager was on leave so I would have to wait until he returned the next week. I could not understand how they could advertise a house and land package but not be able to build the house they advertised. I decided to cancel my build with them as my trust was now gone and the fact, they had known about the issue for over 3 weeks and not bothered to tell me made me very skeptical about what else they would hide from me if I stayed with them. So, I cancelled my build and asked for my $2000 over payment back as I fully understood the $3000 was nonrefundable, I also asked for the copies of the reports since I had paid for them. I received a email a day or so later saying they were sorry to hear this and the manager would call me. I then replied telling them dont worry about the call just to refund my money and send me the reports. Then magically 2 days later the manager sends me an email saying great news that they are going to pay for the pilons. My issue was firstly I had already told them I was cancelling the build, my second issue was say I was stupid enough to agree to pay for the pilons in the first place they would have happily let me pay this extra charge. I told him again that I wished to cancel and please respect my wish and refund the overpayment and send me the reports. Now they get nasty and tell me that there will be no refund of the $2000 I paid extra for the build and basically that I am being ungrateful for their generous offer of paying for the pilons. They also told me that no matter what I build on the block I would require these pilons. So, I decided to go to Dale Alcock who were absolutely amazing, designed me a house to fit the block bigger than what I previously had more upgrades and options and no requirement for any pilons. So now I realise that Redink has lied to me on a number of occasions and now I am really grateful that I have cancelled my build with them. Still ripped me of by not refunding the extra money but I will go to consumer affairs on that one. Take it from me I would give this builder an extremely wide berth.

Red Ink fulfilled above and beyond our expectations – We have been in our new Red Ink home for over a month now. We could not praise them highly enough. Hannan in the sales office who so patiently guided us through getting our plans to perfection and then the staff in the Bunbury office (Sue McCamon, Kendal Colgate and Tracey Hart) who were amazing with assisting us with our pre-start day in choosing all our fittings etc and all the way through with queries, accounts, and anything else we needed. Their experience helped us to not only stick (mostly!) within our budget and achieve the 'look' we were after for our home but pull together the complete package when at times it was quite overwhelming. I cannot praise these girls enough. And finally to our wonderful building supervisor Brad Parsons who kept calm throughout the whole building procedure and dealt with the whole building process like a total pro. We are just so happy with our beautiful new home and would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Red Ink to anyone. Thank you once again and best wishes, Jen and Tim Quinlan

RED INK - South West – Couldn't ask for a better builder. Var, Bruce, Kendal and the team treat you like family. They look at things from our perspective, and always make things work out to suit us. They put us first 100% of the time. We live about 130kms from Red Ink's Office, yet Bruce (The most polite and friendly Salesman you could hope to meet) is always happy… Read more ·  1

to come meet us at home after hours to suit us and our work schedule, even if that means he doesn't get home till all hours. Bruce has worked for us on his RDO's, and weekends. We have been taken to dinner at the Pre-Quote meeting, taken to Dome Cafe before our Pre-start meeting, and we even received home delivered flowers welcoming us into the Red Ink family.

There is a saying, people don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it and they do it best, in other words, if you want to deal with someone who sells houses because it's their job, then go to any other builder and you will get a house, but if you want to deal with someone who believes in what they do, and has a passion for what they do, then Red Ink Southwest should be your only choice, as they will deliver a Home! Believe me, we are building in an area outside the area that many Southwest Builders will build in, we are building a design of our own imagination, not theirs, and we gave them a strict budget to stay inside, and Bruce has delivered on all counts. We were recently at our Pre-Start meeting with Kendal. I have never been helped by anyone like Kendal before, she was actually excited and looking forward to our Pre-Start. I know this sounds strange, but think how many times she has done a pre-start meeting, and for those who have ever been through one, will know how long and involved they can be but with a constant supply of morning tea and lunch provided, we had the whole showroom to ourselves, and we could make ourselves at home, touch and play with anything on display, and just had the best time of it. Once again "people don't buy what you do, they buy why you dot it" and Kendal obviously loves what she does. Thank you Redink Southwest. If we ever need to build again, we will certainly be calling you, and if anyone reading this is thinking about building.

Timeline of a very slow painful building process- almost 18 months in, May 2022- 50% of house complete – We were really happy initially with sales and prestart but now waiting for progress is extremely frustrating. The contract was signed 01/12/20 for a off the plan, no fancy variations, standard build of "The View Farmhouse" 37 working days to be submitted from builder to shire on 25/01/21. Obviously wasn't going to be approved in 45 working days so… Read more

a price increase has been implemented using clause 6B which has added $14,165.00 to our build price for materials and labour as fixed price period was exceeded. Took from 25/01/2021 until 21/04/21 for the Donnybrook Shire to approve planning due to slow correspondence with bushfire approvals and requirements, requests and changes required, then building permit finally approved 10/05/21. Still no confirmed earthworks to 07/06/21- more than 6 months months from signing of contract. Earthworks completed July 2021 (7 months) Slab completed August 2021 (8 months) 12 months from contract signing for a brick to be laid. Brickwork completed Mid December 2021. February 2022-15months in, still waiting for the roof to start and our construction supervisor has changed again, so not going well at all. Roof started 21st February 15th March- received an email stating the builder has claimed an extension of 70 working days to the contractual timeframe using another of their clauses, as they are unlikely to complete build as per our contract (320 working days). 30th March- email stating our Client Liaison Officer has also now changed. Now 1st April 2022 (16months from contract signing) and roof is still not complete( yes-from 21st February!!). The workers have managed to knock down and kill a grass tree at the front of house (that was spared during all earthworks, pad laying and concreting) and litter all around the house site including beer cans in multiple areas. 4th April- returned to the tile shop for the 3rd time, for reselection number two of wall and floor tiles as the previous selections no longer being made due to time delay. 7th April- Roof finally complete. 21st May- In the past 6 weeks the only progress is the plastering has been done and windows put in, we still do not have any ceilings as part of the roof completion. We are at 18 months into build on the 1st June and only 50% of our house is complete. There is absolutely no flow to the building process at all. 30th May- On Friday a workman went and hung 3 exterior doors and by Monday we had another bill for $61000+ for completed lockup. We will now have now payed $265,000 which we pay principle and interest on for the exterior shell of a house. The only thing still done inside is the plastering. With only the final payment left to go we still need an entire interior fit out, cupboards, robes, benches, tiles, carpets, lighting and electrics, painting, bathrooms & plumbing, ceilings etc, and exterior carport concrete, paving, an al fresco area, painting, the list goes on........

March 8th 2017 Update: Dodgy Wiring - Builders Claim No Fault

After a terrible build with Redink homes Southwest, with no end of problems, few of which were ever addressed including the placement of electrical cable between and close to beams it came as no surprise that one of those cables, wedged between a beam and a hot water pipe has arced under pressure causing a massive leak in the roof and damaging the walls and carpet in the room below. RedInk claim they are not responsible for the "consequences" of such damage, just the repair. So now due to their faulty workmanship we have to foot the bill from all the water damage.
