A fault related to the compressor.

Yes, I think the compressor is running too long and overheating. Could be low in refridgerant??
Hot water leaking out of top plug on tank. Can l replace the plug? Unit is 11-12 years old.

I used this hot water heat pump mpi 325 for more than 10 years with a big satisfaction. Recently I want the heat pump to cook water during the day (using the energy from my solar system) in stead of the night. This means that I need to change the timer in the heat pump controller; whether thru a timer or adjust the clock setting inside the controller; so I did talk to a customer service lady, but it seems that she not really understand what it means and refer me to energy provider. Is it possible to get in touch with an experienced technician that understand how the heat pump works and can help me.

My 325 system stopped heating and during the normal heat cycle (around 10am-3pm) the attention light flashes twice. ( Note. There are no green or red lights outside your normal heating times.) 2 flashes indicated a compressor issue according to the manual. I’ve been quoted over $1k to replace it. Does this sound normal or should I just get a new element based HWS? Any experience would be helpful please.
does the fan work at the front? if not then the back up element should take over and heat the water.
No fan. No Hw for 5 days. I’ve turned off at fuse box but will turn back on today to see if anything changes. Pretty sure it’s done though. Manufactured June 2009, 13 years is not so bad I guess. Should I get an electric system though? There are terrible reviews on this product, and it’s $5k to replace. I have a big solar system so heating an electric unit during the day should be economical??

Does anyone else have a drip under the pump, at night when fan running, for a few hours, then stops ? Thinking it might be condensation ?
How can I change to time the Heat Pump comes on. Originally it operated during the day but now at night which causes the neighbor to complain about the noise.

I have a mpi 551 325 model its flasing 4 red lights which tell me its a tank thermistor error but there is no reset button tp press what are my options?
Hi Colin, I am not an expert on Rheem. Based on my experience, firstly ring Rheem service (sorry, don't have their number). My experience is that they are not very competent, but they may be able to help you. Secondly, send an email to rheem.service@rheem.com.au officially requesting advice. Also, from my experience, their service personnel are quite competent and know a lot more about their hot water systems than the installation people from a hot water company. I got the impression that Rheem are concerned about their reputation and the right (senior?) peopler keen to help. Stand your ground and don't give in too quickly. Hope this helps.

hi did anyone find out where the reset button is ???? as rheem will only tell me if I have a plumbers call
If you take the main cover off above where the heat unit is mounted to the tank, you will see a black box with a bunch of electrical cables connected to it. The reset button is roughly in the middle of the black box. You need to switch the breaker off at the fuse box before you attempt any work on the unit.
My machine is Rheem MPi-325 Intergrated heat pump,Energy efficient water heater, Installed in May 2012, and now no hot water,The mode are green light not on, the red light is on. and I have taken the front cover off located the control box but it does not have a reset button on the bottom left side as shown in the manual I found on the internet. my email is tanhuizhe@gmail.com
Sorry Will can't help! The advice I received was that my rusted tank wasn't worth replacing as the heat pump had passed its 5 year warranty and was likely to break down.

Hi, I have a 551325 heat pump; it runs like normal but no hot water provides. Green light indicator shows 3x Green and fan runs but whole day has no hot water. this morning i used 2 wires adapter provided connecting directly, which by pass heat pump and uses element; now it produces hot water.
Pls advise what could be wrong, PCB board or anything else?

Usually cant adjust Heat Pump output,unless it is running on the back up element which it usually is not . Adjust tempering valve output (cold/hot water mixing valve) Shouldn't be more than about 50 deg c on the output side of this valve
get a plumber in, He can do this easily as sometimes you need a special adjusting tool for said valve.

I have a MPI325 that has just recently started to want to heat via the element rather that the heat pump. The heat pump does work occasionally, but at other times, it tends to flash (one short) green light for a period and then changes to a long green light and the power meter indicates that power is being used ( element heating I presume). Thermostat has been replaced as a first try to repair as water was not as hot as expected. Any ideas?

One short flash - call to heat
Long flash - temperature below 4degC or above 45degC. Running on boost heat.
My system for some reason stopped making hot water i replaced thermostat and it still stops making hot water it doesnt flick the switch off at the circuit board but if i turn it off then on again from curcuit board it will start heating again its like it gets to temperature then switches off but wont kick back on again until u turn power off and back on again to the system has anybody else had this and how did u fix it

If your in Brisbane area give First- choice hot water a call they may be able to fix it and supply spare parts
Or supply various choices of replacement
This wasn't my problem, I fixed the problem by chucking the HWS out and replacing it with a brand that is less noisy, more reliable and hopefully won't try to burn my house down.
How does the heating work on this machine ? why does the fan keeps working ? is it heating or cooling ? How do we know when the water is heated. How can we control the temperature.

Who cares Mal, run as far away from this make and model as possible. Fast.
Heat banks are good and efficient if they don't break down like this one did.
I have a 551325 and have lost all hot water. The fan is running continually and both led lights are not on. Any idea what is wrong or how to trouble shoot would be great. Also noticed that my heater pump was part of a national recall but as I am the new owner of it when I bought this house, I don’t know if the previous owners ever had the recall addressed.
