I could not find a new one so good luck Mine had a hairline fracture after a very long life. I'd had it for so long that I decided to replace the slow cooker rather than the insert. I guess if it's still in good condition it might be worth checking out second hand sites.Sorry I could not help.

Hi there Hughes. My Ronson model, does heat up to a higher temperature than some other models and will achieve a rolling boiling point both on low and high. The difference being that it will take longer to achieve this stage on one setting than the other.

I have purchased a larger bowl 6ltr model (another brand) that has never achieved a rolling boil at all, but will heat food to a 70 degree temp or marginally above (Foodsafe temperatures are usually above 60 degrees for hot food, below this bacteria can form). I think of that unit as the old Straw-box cooker. The Ronson model achieves obviously a higher temperature closer to the boiling point of 100 degrees.

True it would be handy to have written on the box both the liquid and the central temperature achieved on each model.

I have two units of the Ronson. Love them, and have for many years been a work horse within the kitchen. Soups, stews, meats (corned beef , pot roasts etc) and best of all steamed puddings (Steak and Kidney, Christmas Puddings, Sponge, Stick date etc.) come out a treat in the unit. I have no need to bottle foods (water bath method) in mine for I have a Fowlers Vacola to do that, but apparently you can do that too in the unit.

This energy saving, kitchen whiz, will be a blessing to you for many years. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.

I have seen that SunBeam have a desk top model now retailing for around $40 for people wanting to take a kept warm meal to work. Runs on about 50 watts.
