I need to know what is the tempreture on each setting of the RSC100? I need to know this specification as I read somewhere that yoghurt is being made in slowcookers. I know that yoghurt is possible within the temp range 43 - 46 degrees . Thanks

Ronson
Ronson   DM

Hi Cobia, As this is a mechanical slow cooker, the unit doesn’t have set temperatures however, it has temperature ranges that need to be achieved over the course of cooking. To make yogurt with a slow cooker, recipes generally recommend cooking for 2-2.5 hours. On the low setting, this slow cooker will reach 60 degrees at the end of this 2-2.5 hour time frame.

For the desired temperature range, we recommend using the unit on a low setting and keeping a close eye on the yogurt during the second hour of cooking.

Hope this helps, for further assistance with this product, please contact the Ronson customer care team on 1300 139 798 during business hours or e-mail askus@ronson.com.au.

I have a ronson slow cooker and I was wondering whether there should be a gap when you put the lid on. there is a gap between the lid and the actual cooker, so not sure whether that is right or should the lid fit snug with no gaps in between?

Ronson

Hi Stacey - the lid should sit evenly along the groove of the slow cooker bowl. For further assistance, please contact the Ronson customer care team on 1300 139 798 during business hours or e-mail askus@ronson.com.au.

I have a Ronson slowcooker and love it. I make bone broths weekly for our family. I've just learned that ceramic slow cookers can leach lead into the food. Apparently it is in the ceramic glaze. Is there lead in the ceramic insert of my slow cooker? There is no FDA approved level of lead for human ingestion. This would defeat the purpose of making healthy broths for my family :-(

Hi Kirsty - as part of our quality procedures, this product was tested in accordance with Standards to the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Compliance Policy Guides 7117.07 and 7117.06 for extractable Lead and Cadmium in Pottery (Ceramics).

This product was found to comply with the leachable Lead and Cadmium requirements of the FDA Compliance Guides.

This lead issue is still of concern to me...what might be deemed healthy via the FDA might apply to the main stream but some sensitive folk may become ill from it. We have enough environmental pollution as it is. I may start to source a slow cooker ceramic insert with no lead if possible or put a pyrex dish inside the insert for added safety

Kirsty Reti

I'm really disappointed that there is any lead at all, I don't feel it is safe at any level. I will also look for an insert to protect my young family from extra toxins.

Yes you can, as I have used it before to keep air getting out of the pot.

If the shape is round, you can put a dinner plate over it in place of the lid. Works fine.
