The basket and fly wheel at the back is stuck solid, no movement like it has been locked. The belt came off as a result and the motor appears to be going okay. What could cause this?

Either the overhung bearing has seized or there is something solid between the rotating drum and the outer drum. Either way, the machine will have to be stripped.

My washing machine is under a year old and is getting stuck on the 9minute mark and is not spinning. What can I do to fix it.

Hey Ryhan, there could be imbalance during the spin cycle. Usually the machine will keep going but not spin due to clothes imbalancing the maschine. It could also be the above mentioned, build up of dirt or clogged pump could be the source. If you are able to see or reach parts of the machine you can try and unclog but this may need a technicians attention.

I have had the 9.5kg washer for a few months. Clothes don't seem to come out smelling fresh. Have tried different settings, washing powders/liquid and nothing seems to help. It like there isn't enough water in the machine. Yes I've check the water inlet. Any advice?

Our clothes don’t come out smelling fresh, we use a good quality detergent. It doesn’t seem to fill with water. I have had the machine for a while can someone recommend a good setting to use

Try daily wash, two spin cycles, no heat.. should be about 50 mins. Also try clean out the filter which is located bottom right. Also look at the rubber lip part of the drum where you load the clothes in for debris/lint. Good luck :) One more thing, don't use fabric softener in the machine! A washing machine mechanic told me it ruins machines.

Only bought the machine1 month ago and does not finish cycle. 5c message for filter blocked and nothing in it. Very disappointed, continually draining by hose. Won't even spin

Hi Sally, if the pump filter is clogged, an information code of “5C” appears on the screen. We recommend for you to clean the pump filter via the steps in the link below. User Manual (page 43) > external link  Please also: - Make sure the drain hose is not frozen or clogged. - Make sure the drain hose is positioned correctly, depending on the connection type. - Clean the debris filter as it may be clogged. - Make sure the drain hose is straightened all the way to the drain system

If you continue to experience troubles with this, please feel free to send us a private message through the link below.

How long should washing machines, used normally, last for before needing replacement

RJW

Has everyone noticed the 'how long is a piece of string' type of wording produced by manufacturers and in the ACL and by the ACCC. The only remedy if toy the purchaser thinks they've a justifiable grievance is to go to the small claims tribunal - where you're subject to the whim of a lawyer sitting as a judge but no more savvy than you when it comes to assessing lifespan. A good idea would be statutory minimums for white goods, establishing a national database wouldn't be rocket science.
