Samsung ME6124 Questions & Answers

Nope not as far as I can tell. I can’t either. Pretty useless haha?

I recently purchased an MG23F301TCK to replace my 22 yr old Samsung microwave: As "Mun H" said, light is so weak you can't see anything when running 25 watt more or less halogen tiny bulb. Will not detail how bad and uncomfortable is to use this "modern" appliance compared to old model. At the end found an "NOT samsung" solution, opened the oven to discover it is exactly the old model with new paint and worse commands, Replaced bulb with a 12 watt LED bulb and "Light come on" Not as clear as old model (40w incandescent) but enough to see food if not in sunlight. Note that LED are "not recomended" for microwaves their 50.000 hours expectancy may be degraded by heat, ok, any oven will run near to 50.000 hours and a low cost LED bulb could be easily replaced.

Samsung has evolved so badly that I ended repairing my old CE2877 model and giving the "new" SAMSUNG contraption to charity.

You should take it back. The light should come on when the microwave is operational.

I've noticed on mine the light comes on but it must have the weakest globe in it that it is really gard to see what you gave in there.

This sound odd Usama. We’d recommend disconcerting the unit form power for 2-3 minutes, I the display is still blank then the unit would need to be assessed to look further into this for you. You can follow the link below to locate your closest service centre.

Thank you Ada, however... I was not remarking, or asking about, the light. I was asking why the G:LASS is SO dark? With our previous microwave, the user could see inside, light on or off. I have tried putting white paper at the back. Still can't see, so although it's dark coloured, it's not the lining. NO, the issue is with the colour of the glass front. Why is Samsung so ashamed of the inside of its product? You cannot watch the food effectively, so.... It's very easy to get a boil over. Please attempt to accurately answer the question..."Why is the glass SO dark"? What is a technical reason for the color? regards Nick

Hi Ada. You still have not provided the technical reason as to the reason the door glass is SO dark. That is the only thing I am asking. Overall, apart from the door, the product is fine. All our other microwave ovens, not that there has been that many, have had glass in the door, you could see clearly through.

It is very dangerous. I also watch for things that may overflow. Maybe its a design fault. I am going to take mine back as noone can give a good, valid reason.

The glass microwave windows are dark for a reason, they're covered by a perforated metal screen. That screen limits the transmission of microwaves through the glass so that they won't harm you while you're looking to see what's going on with your dinner.

If you buy a microwave that does not have the above materials on it, I would suggest finding one that does have the dark door. It is not impossible to see what is happening with your food.

You may have to change angles and see from a clearer standpoint but it is a small price to pay for avoiding microwaves and radiation coming through the panel and harming and you and your family.

It is certainly by no means dangerous to have a tinted panel, I would suggest to avoid overflow is stick to a strict timer and don't fill to the top depending on food.

This design is not a fault, many top brands have this implemented in their designs to avoid harm to their consumers.

Ovens and such do still have slight tints, but because they are a bigger unit , the tint won't show and these bigger machines do need to be much clearer.

I have a 40 cm microwave and there is no angle I can use to see food while in use. The unit works well otherwise. From my research it seems this is just an exremely poor design choice that Samsung has repeated in several of its microwave designs.

My microwave was a white one but I sent it back for a refund, cannot see a thing through the darkened glass. If you cannot see your hand behind the glass with the door opened then a higher wattage globe is not going to make any difference. I am pretty sure that changing a globe in a microwave is no longer possible for the consumer. It has to go back to a service agent if it blows, so I doubt if a higher wattage replacement is possible.

Russ responding to my own question .... got it sorted. Was not pressing clock and 0 simultaneously ..silly me!!! Worked it out this morning.

Easier to press Clock and Zero until "12 hour" shows up, and then just press start

I followed the directions in the instruction manual (page 20) and it worked fine. On pressing "power defrost" the number I is auto selected which is for meat, two presses of "power defrost" you're on 2 for poultry, 3 presses for fish and 4 for bread/cake. I was defrosting 500 grams of mince so I pressed 5 for .5kg and when I pressed START it showed 9 minutes 9 seconds on the read out as it started up.

Hi Sumiyya, the ME6124W is not a convection microwave and so you would be unable to set its temperature. The microwave however, allows you to set up to two different stages of cooking, each with its own time length and power level. The Power Level button lets you control the heating intensity from Warm to High.
