on-off situation--sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Early in January of this year the freezer section (bottom section of the fridge) stopped cooling. In fact, it is no longer as cool as the fridge section (upper section of the fridge). The fridge was out of warranty but we assumed it simply needed to be repaired. I therefore rang Samsung directly to organise a repair. After 3 extensive time-consuming telephone calls to Samsung with the issue of organising a repair being avoided until the 3rd call, I was basically offered an upgrade to a new fridge (with a 10% discount). Alternatively, I was told, a repair could be anywhere in the region of $1000+. I was shocked, to say the least. While not acknowledging fault for a fridge that had only reached half its potential life-span, the Samsung customer service operators continued to recite their scripted monologues about what a good deal an upgraded Samsung refrigerator would be. My husband then called Samsung and got the same story. We are appalled by the treatment we received, the run-around we got, and the fact that we were, in essence, lied to about what was for us a very expensive fridge. The whole point of investing in such a fridge was that we could be assured of its high quality and its longevity. Obviously, this has not been the case. We are now without a fridge as we can not, as yet, afford a new one. I hate to think of the volume of food that had to be thrown away in the past couple of weeks. We will never purchase another Samsung fridge, no matter what 'upgrade deal' is offered and strongly caution any potential new customers to find other more reputable brands such as LG. To say that we regret ever buying this fridge would be an understatement. What a complete waste of money. And for such a major company such as Samsung--what terrible 'customer service'! Everyone: DON"T BUY SAMSUNG REFRIGERATORS.
Follow-up · No fridge repair was done. Samsung quoted a rough estimate over the phone for repair costs of about $1000. I then contacted an independent repairman who said once those particular Samsung fridges go into permanent defrost they are very difficult to repair. Hence we bought a cheap freezer to get us by until we can afford a new fridge. The whole thing stinks.
Don’t waste your money on Samsung 4 door fridge freezer model no SRF717CDBLS $3500.00 dollars it will last 4 years then it will break down due to gas leak. Then your motor will burn out.I will never buy a Samsung fridge again. My moms got a Kelvinator in the garage and lasted 55 years.Still running strong. service from such a big brand. A fridge is a major household investment, and it’s unacceptable for it to fail in such a basic function within a few years. I expected much better quality and support.
Don’t waste your money on Samsung products. This experience has completely destroyed my trust in the brand. I will never purchase a Samsung appliance again and would strongly advise others to stay away. If there is a zero star for review, I would rate it zero.

Ice maker is a pain! – The ice maker has to be defrosted/ deblocked about weekly now. My fridge is about 3 years old. I did contact the manufacturer but of course they did not reply. You can not turn the fridge off for that long so fixing the ice maker is a massive pain! I do not recommend. Show details

Great layout, features and appearance – Bought this fridge due to its large size, internal layout and features. Also very attractive in clear coated black steel. Easy to use but needs a dairy compartment and the door handles require regular cleaning. Has worked really well so far and only required replacement filters about every six months. keep it functioning. Has been inspected and repaired 4 times, including February this year when all parts were replaced - it is failing again now.
Door coating also came off and rust spots developed - had to fight for a replacement door to be fitted which eventually was agreed on.
Fair Trading claim lodged as it was never fit for purpose.

How long do you expect a fridge to last???? – According to Samsung, 6 years is the expected life span of their domestic fridges. concerns, we can confirm and advise considering the age of the fridge (6 years) and the use customer has had and the amount paid, the fridge is outside of warranty. Samsung is not in the position to remedy the fridge as based on our recorded the customer has had sufficient use of the fridge in the past 6 years." I would be okay if after 5 years I had to pay someone to fix it, however because of the way they make their product it can't be fixed and I now have to buy a new fridge. If you want a fridge that will last, I suggest looking at something other than Samsung.

After 15 years of owning Samsung products, I swear to never own their crappy brand ever again because surely a $3,200 fridge should last longer than 5 years. SUPPORT) and gone through a frustrating nightmare for over one hour on the phone, we managed to book authorized technician to come and have a look. The technician, I have to say was nice and understood our situation. He checked and said Compressor had died. After raising a job with Samsung, we were told that since the Unit is out of warranty (although they have 10 years warranty for compressor) and they are not prepared to offer a free-of-charge remedy. Samsung sure must have a different dictionary with a different bizarre meaning for “10 years Warranty”. Instead they gave us the option of choosing a voucher for 15% discount ONLY applies when buying another Samsung fridge online. We also have the option of buying Samsung TV online with 30% off but only 15% off for Fridge to replace the broken one. Why they think I’d want to buy anything Samsung ever again after this experience is just beyond me. It disgusts me that Samsung is using our bad experience with this fridge as a marketing tool to sell more Samsung products.
This is not good enough for the $3400 fridge!!! There is NO customer service at all. The call Centre employees don’t know how to talk to customers, practically threatened four time that they are going to charge us extra for asking to have a technician come in sooner, highly impolite, zero empathy and bad attitude. Best part is there’s no way to escalate situation further because the call Centre personal sneers and makes the decision for you as “The supervisor will tell you the same thing”. I am truly appalled by the way that the customer service representative spoke.
DO NOT buy this fridge !!!! Better yet, do NOT buy anything Samsung because with any problem, you’ll be talking to the same horrifying customer service people and Samsung is not prepared to offer “free-of-charge remedies” when their warranted parts break.

There is a class action in the USA about a design floor – Bought the fridge and the ice maker constantly freezes up. They send out a kit to fix a "known issue" but this only worked temporarily. Once the warranty ran out it was adios omigo. I have since discovered that there is a class action against Samsung on this fridge model. Back coating peeling from stainless – I was under the opinion when buying our fridge it was black stainless, not stainless covered in black paint or plastic. I would never have purchased it had I been told this at point of sale. My fridge is nearly 5 years old and now the black is peeling off but this has been happening for some time. Bought for $3399 with cashback 200 – Upgraded to this model after a lot of market research. Bought 2 years before. Love it. Humedity controlled. Cooked food and raw veggies last for long. Bought 5 replacement filters on eBay for $75. Every 6 months have to change the filter. Nothing to complain so far. Most importantly convertible fridge to freezer bottom right compartment. So far ours has been fine although I will say the crushed ice is a bit hit and miss. It is a very sleek and stylish unit. However... the speed at which the ice maker freezes over and blocks up is unbelievable. months after purchase and happens again every couple of week since. To get the blockage out, i use a large steel knife sharpener to bash the ice blocks out. Getting your hand into the small space and hitting the ice with the force required often leads to bruised and bleeding knuckles. The ice maker is now making a large whirring sounds which can be heard from upstairs. No doubt from all the ice caked into the cracks and crevices in the poorly designed ice maker that can't be defrosted with a hairdryer and loads of mess. Considering this fridge costs 3 times more than my first car, its performance is really not acceptable.
I see they are still selling this model, and I don't want other people to make the mistake of purchasing something so expensive that doesn't do the full job as advertised.

We Purchsed an LG Door in door, the positive difference is huge.
Pros Samsung: ~ Door weight and door handle position ~ Ability to turn off door alarm ~ Lock out icemaker/water.
Cons Samsung: ~ Icemaker is useless. I repeat, it's useless (doesnt crush very well at all) ~ Takes about 30 seconds to fill a cup wit ice ~ Lighting is poor ~ Fridge does not maintain a consistent tempurature at all, doors are 3+ degrees warmer (although ours was concidered faulty).
Conclusion, I did read bad reviews regarding this Samsung fridge and knew the icemaker was terrible. However, I still opted for it as I've had good outcomes with other Samsung products.
Choose you own adventure like I did, unfortunalty it cost me a lot of time and stress. The outcome was good eventually. I was refunded in full plus a dismal compensation for food (we had over 3 weeks with a warm fridge).
Harvey Norman Dandenong were useless, they didn't care at all about the item. It was only 3 days old when first detected it was 'warm' and faulty.
We purchased a new fridge at Harvey Norman Frankston. Samantha and the team were awesome, they matched the price of the new fridge and also delivered it at no cost due to the lack of empathy from the other store.

this. Rang just a few weeks ago as the mother board lights flashing and the fridge and freezer had started to defrost. Once again told if we had done something we are liable. WHY would be do something deliberately to the fridge! Well, the mother board had to be completely replaced - major fail. Then the compressor went and had to be replaced - major fail. Then the ice and water dispenser stop working and had to be repair. Always being told, "If our fault you have to pay". Under Australian consumer law after 3 fails we are entitled to a refund.
