I am looking for an new microwave and saw Sharp R330YS was well-reviewed in Choice. However, a number of reviews on productreview.com.au indicate rust problems. I have not yet seen a response from Sharp to indicate if they have rectified what seems to be a systemic problem with this model?
Thank you
Peter

I'm also interested in the answer. Dear Sharp can you please post the answer here. After those negative reviews without any positive confirmation that the problem has been eliminated in the new models, I doubt anyone would be buying your microwaves. I was going to buy after choice review, but after reading this page - definitely no, until we have confirmation. Probably we should post a link to these reviews to choice website, so that people at least can see what's happening to it after 1-2 years of usage.
Don't do it, I have one of these microwaves and it has a very bad case of rusting underneath the carousel, the rusting started after 12 months of use.
Good afternoon guys. I purchased a sharp R330YS at the beginning of 2015. Going good until Christmas when it tripped the fuses in my house, and then wouldn't work. No burning smell or anything to indicate why it stopped. The Good Guys replaced that one for a brand new one, same model. I did not use it immediately, as I moved from WA to QLD. Once in Qld, and moved into our place 3 months later, it was unpacked and used. Worked well, until just after Christmas when it did the same thing. Tripped the fuses and then wouldn't work after. again. This is less than 9 months of use. However, my warranty has expired on 27 December . Why is this happening? Is there a fault with the machine/ manufacture? First time was cooking 2 minute noodles, this time heating a bowl of soup. Both times had just started when it tripped the fuses. Rather disappointing have 2 in 2 years, both with less than a year use each. What's going on?
Thanks

We purchased a Sharp Carousel R-330Y(W) last Friday, 13 May 2016 from the Good Guys.
The numbers on the touch pad don't respond quickly, the number "2" is the worst. Also there has been a faint chemical/ electrical smell like burnt Bakelite.
Tonight when I cooking vegetables for tea in five separate cooking sessions, the Bakelite odour was very strong.
Just hoping your Customer Care section can assist us. The strong Bakelite odour would indicate something wrong with the microwave.
Both my husband and I previously owned Sharp Carousel microwave ovens both of which gave many years of service.
Looking forward to your response.

Does the Sharp R330YS microwave have the cooling function?
Yes there is a cooling fan that kicks in after the cooking cycle has ended. It only lasts for a few seconds and it appears to be perfectly safe to open the door whilst the fan is running.
Thanks Stephen. I was hoping it didn't have a cooling function as it apparently drives everyone batty. Still think I will look for a microwave without this function. If anyone knows of a good microwave that does not have the cooling function please let me know.
Hi Andy,
Thank you for your question. The R330Y series does not have a cooling fan.
Kind regards,
Sharp Australia
Andy, Sharp is correct, there is no cooling fan. I got this microwave mixed up with my work microwave (Samsung) that does have the cooling fan. Sorry for the mixup.
Does this microwave have an internal light? Bought one a couple of weeks ago and didn't initially notice if it was lighting up. Not sure if lamp broken or just doesn't exist?
It does have an internal light. Hopefully it's just burned out and not a more serious problem like the ones I had.
Yes definitely when working correctly, may just need a new bulb, hope its still under warranty.
Brand new. Will be expecting a replacement with failure in this timescale!

What size is this Microwave. Is it a 32 L?
Sharp do not provide size by volume. They use "Compact" "Midsize" & "Large" The R330Y is a Midsize. We find it is a comfortable size but having also a large oven, there are obvious advantages of using larger cookware and quantities.
I have found that even those manufacturers who do state volumes, their quoted volume does not necessarily match that of the cavity dimensions.
