how long can you use this before you run down a 12-V battery?
I have a 53gt? Stakol protable frig/freezer that's works great up I have a space that would be better for me to put it,there is plenty of circulation room,but can I use this unit with it standing up on either end,sort of like a house frig?

Do you mean on its end? It will be unstable and you run the risk of contents falling out and being smashed. As well as the risk of damaging your fridge.
Can I use it only as a freezer the whole unit not fridge?
Yes you can. The temperarure can be lowered to minus 18 or minus 20. I cant remember which is rhe lowest possible. Remember that you will have to defrost it a lot more often. I run mine in the plus 2 to plus 4 degrees, as a fridge and I have to defrost mine at least every 2 months otherqise too much frost builds up and may damage the interior.

Can this cooler operate laying on its side and door open out?

I would not use it this way as you will block one of the ventilator outlets
