block I found Stroud employees to be professional, very helpful and friendly. I was worried about colour and tile selection but received great help and I’m pleased with the whole look of my home. I was kept up to date with every aspect of the build and was shown through the build each week. The workmanship seems very good and my supervisor always seemed to be a jump ahead of any wrongs. I would strongly caution anyone considering this builder. My project was delayed by almost a year, which caused significant stress and financial hardship. finished garage all highlighted the lack of care and quality control. Many finishes were dirty and substandard at handover, leaving me to spend extra time and money correcting issues that should never have passed inspection. Some cabinetry was not installed as agreed, and I had to pursue a refund rather than receive what was promised. The builder also failed to leave adequate access for landscaping, creating further unnecessary complications and costs.
On top of this, costs were inflated with constant variations, many of which felt unjustified. What should have been a straightforward build became financially draining, with the budget stretched far beyond expectations.
Communication was equally disappointing. Reported defects — including safety hazards were ignored or left unresolved for long periods. I have to now pursue this through office of fair trade.
This builder has shown a lack of professionalism, accountability, and commitment to their clients. They prioritised their own protection and profit margins over delivering a reliable service or a home of acceptable standard.
I would not recommend engaging them if you value reliability, transparency, fair pricing, or proper workmanship.

first time builders and this was a whole new experience for us. The help he gave us was amazing. As we progressed Alla was our next point of call for any concerns and kept us updated with everything about our house.
We were allocated and interior designer Leanne who helped us choose all our colours, tiles, carpet and carpentry which helped complimented our house. At first I wasn't sure about the colour we chose for the feature wall in the rumpus room. Once painted it blended with any greys, greens or blues which suited our theme. I love the colour.
We had an amazing project manager Cameron. As first time builder we had lots of questions to ask. We were hesitant at times, changed our mind on things but nothing was a problem for Cameron. He usually had the answer to our questions straight away and if not, he would have the answer within 24hrs. He was very positive,calm and professional. Couldn't thank him enough.
We must admit the finishing touches and workmanship were very impressive and the cabinetry was perfect. We have heaps of storage.
We were able to inspect our property anytime we liked. We lived four hours away but nothing was a problem, it was all to suit our requirements, times and dates.
We certainly gave Stroud Port Macquarie a hugh challenge. They had never built the house before. We all worked together to finish our now "HOME" to all our expectations plus more. Homes Port Macquarie could deliver what they said they would. The site supervisor, Cameron Purcell, kept the construction on-time and everything ran seamlessly to us. We can imagine that a lot of organising needed to happen behind the scenes to make that impression. The quality of the trades people and their workmanship was exceptional, and we are extremely happy with the build of our new home. The communication throughout was consistent and transparent with weekly phone calls, messages and photos. We felt involved in the build from the start to the handover. The variations were minimal and mostly what we added during the build. For anyone who is looking to build a quality home on the Mid North Coast area it is hard to go past Stroud Homes Port Macquarie. you can only describe as no pride or care in workmanship throughout our home. The owner will not acknowledge they have left us with a very poorly executed home. He continues to say that he is happy with the home- even though there is not one person who has seen it that isn’t disgusted by the workmanship of a ‘professional’ building company! I really am extremely saddened to be writing this post, as our initial experiences were wonderful. We never in a million years dreamt we would end up with anything but love for our home building journey. But once we hit construction stage it all began to fall apart. To sum up an extremely emotional and difficult journey; we had four site supervisors (including the owner himself). We had ample mistakes in construction. With no appropriate communication about these issues. No acknowledgment/apology. Overall very poor communication with no customer service focus. I could detail our experience further but essentially we chose this company because of their reputation for quality, however, all we have repeatedly heard in response to reporting sub par items and our pleas to have them rectified is “it is within minimum standards tolerances”. So in their own words their standard is to build to minimum standards. But our homes finishes, most certainly do not even meet minimum standards. The work is appalling!!
Don’t trust them… – Don’t trust them. Do your due diligence. They don’t support you when things go wrong, they don’t support their franchisees and they leave you with a half finished house! I paid prelims and could not use any of the reports anywhere else after being assured that we were able to. where we live, but the Stroud Homes team soon changed that for us - we had regular video calls, phone calls, emails, photos and messages throughout the entire process which made us so much more comfortable and we could see all the progress and updates so easily. Good luck getting your defects rectified. Once they have your final payment you are non existent – When it comes to rectifying defects, don't even bother. We love our home. The building process to be honest was enjoyable at times and a nightmare at times. Our hand over was an absolute disaster. Our tiling through out the house was of a very low standard. Not aligned, inconsistent grouting, chipped tiles surrounding our bathroom niches. Our floor grout in the bathrooms was terrible. Upon moving in the grout was already discolored and beginning to deteriorate. Over a 3 year period we have had many tilers sent to quote the job, everyone of them has said it needs to be totally replaced. Strouds response is to ingore it for another 12 months until we make contact again and then ask us to send pictures through and the process starts again.
Our garage floor was absolutely trashed by trades. Again, stroud took no responsibility. Offered us $500 compensation towards fixing the floor by an outside contractor that was quoted at $1900.
We asked for and paid extra for a colour in driveway. What we received from stroud and Chris warren concreting was absolute rubbish. An attempt to do a powdered driveway on a windy day resulted in a patchwork of colour that our site supervisor tried to blame our elderly neighbor for. Strouds fix was to paint the driveway which is already losing its colour and the patch work returning.
If you like straight walls Stroud is not your builder. We have several walls out of alignment by more then an inch, including in our entry and ensuite that are so obvious its embarrassing. When we asked to have the rectified, we were told they passed Australian standards and that in any case would be impossible to rectify as the job was too big and they would make a mess of the house. Most of our external window trims started peeling within months. They were apparently fixed after 18 months of continual calls but have all peeled again since. This is also the issue with our cladding. The joins all cracked and separated within months, were repaired and have all cracked and separated again.
Water has entered our house in several areas. Water damaged one of our bedrooms as both the front and rear outdoor areas had not been sealed, they literally missed the entire process. This membrane has again already deteriorated. Water also enters our house via the laundry door every time we have heavy rain but apparently, they can't see an issue.
We have had to replace both fans in the bathrooms as they are not sufficient, and due to the lack of quality was starting to deteriorate the back lit mirrors.
The biggest issue with stroud is accountability. They use sub contractors like most builders, but are too week to manage them when works are below standards. Instead of rectifying defects they delay. And the defects they attempt to fix are the small ones, and instead of fixing they patch it over only to reappear in months.
Yes, I may sound bitter, but we followed all the proper procedures and timelines. We paid all our bills on time and showed patience when requested. But this has gone on for too long with no real progress. The sales lady and our construction contact were great but have both left the company, and to my knowledge not on good terms. I don't want to waste my time writing this review but enough is enough. I have called head office twice over the past 18 months with no return phone calls so hopefully this catches someone's attention.
All we want is the standard that was promised to us. All the issues we have I guarantee are not in their show home.

extensive amount of time to finalise our details to ensure we had all the right selections of materials and colours etc. • The quality of the build is of a high standard thanks to the oversight by the project team who I found to have fine eyes for detail and ability to resolve issues during the build. • The Nowra team for Stroud are long time residents in the area and are known for previous high quality builds and have a pool of quality tradesmen who they have great relationships with to draw on. • Very happy with the project management and also with the time to complete the build. • Stroud provide plenty of photo’s during the build and also provide plenty of opportunities for onsite visits to view progress or to discuss changes. • We had an independent inspection of the build after its completion and there were only very minor issues to address and the inspector commented on how good the overall build was. • For the 3 month follow-up for defects. Again, only minor issues to deal with. • Our basic build was on time and on budget with only the usual delays due for weather etc. Our additional 10%-20% spend, such as a pool and decking, where were not in the original scope of the build and Stroud very nicely accommodated these changes during the build. We built from Sydney and got photos and calls every week showing progress and working through challenges. Great communicator, very even tempered, experienced and managed the process to within an inch of its life. My son installed the solar system and does work on high-end builds in Sydney - whilst doing the fit he said that the quality and workmanship visible in the roof cavity alone was of a standard he seldom sees. I hate surprises of the financial kind and set the expectation that everything is upfront about where the variations could be and that if any additional costs were being incurred I knew about them immediately. I am happy to say that we came in within 0.3% of what we were quoted. I give Stroud Homes Port Macquarie the highest recommendation possible.
