finished garage all highlighted the lack of care and quality control. Many finishes were dirty and substandard at handover, leaving me to spend extra time and money correcting issues that should never have passed inspection. Some cabinetry was not installed as agreed, and I had to pursue a refund rather than receive what was promised. The builder also failed to leave adequate access for landscaping, creating further unnecessary complications and costs.

On top of this, costs were inflated with constant variations, many of which felt unjustified. What should have been a straightforward build became financially draining, with the budget stretched far beyond expectations.

Communication was equally disappointing. Reported defects — including safety hazards were ignored or left unresolved for long periods. I have to now pursue this through office of fair trade.

This builder has shown a lack of professionalism, accountability, and commitment to their clients. They prioritised their own protection and profit margins over delivering a reliable service or a home of acceptable standard.

I would not recommend engaging them if you value reliability, transparency, fair pricing, or proper workmanship.

Once our beautiful home was completed, we were thrilled with the quality and workmanship. Even during the 90-day defect review period, they promptly addressed any minor issues.

a plan which was suited our needs and also suited our block of land. The offered selections were of high quality that we didn’t have to spend too much on upgrades. The price quoted included most of the items except for landscaping which gave us a figure to work out our finances right from the very beginning. The build process started of fast right after our land was registered as all the paperwork was done and ready. A special thanks to Cameroon who was our site supervisor. He was updating us regularly through a builder’s app with weekly photos and messages of the weeks progress. He has never missed our calls of enquiry any time of the week and was fast to respond. When we had our newly laid driveway vandalised, I contact the team who sent out the tradie at 7pm and fixed it. After moving in, we had minor issues which was fixed within 1 month. Cam, personally came in with the tradies to rectify the issues. Office staff were really professional and approachable. Have to thanks Jennifer, Jessica, John and Allanah who helped us with our queries. Our build was stress free as our little queries were replied to promptly by the office staff in particular Jennifer. They were happy to provide us with advices for our selections which in the end came out to be just what we needed. we got to the stage of signing contracts, lodging DA’s and starting the build, the rest of the team took over and it really highlighted the whole teams cohesion and expertise.

When you’re not an expert in building, its the little communication things that make a huge difference in giving you peace of mind that all is happening as it should - from Jen’s unprompted updates following up on the DA approval to Cam’s Friday updates on Voxer, we always knew what was going on and never felt a need to check the progress, even if we just loved driving past!

If culture starts at the top, you can really see it with Stroud - Travis is a great guy and it just ripples through the rest of the business. Cam was our site supervisor and was amazing, nothing was ever too much trouble. Whenever we had questions or something wasn’t as expected, Cam just made it happen without blinking (or at least we didn’t see it).

Thanks to the whole team for a great experience, if we had a do-over, we wouldn’t change anything and if we build again it will definitely be with Stroud!

We did have a few setbacks throughout the planning stage through council but were kept well informed and updated throughout the process. There were no 'hidden' costs throughout the build, when we did ask to make changes John was quick to give us a figure to approve and it didn't hold up the build in any way. The communication throughout the entire process from planning to handover was exceptional. We are very happy in our new home.

***EDIT*** Communication post handover has been poor and items still not fixed after more than 15 months. Very disappointed.

How was the workmanship and build quality of your property? The workmanship was excellent. Throughout the entire process, we never requested Travis and his tradespersons to return and redo the task.

handled them? - Unsatisfied + several unresolved - Multiple significant issues throughout build - the appeals process was arduous, the builder was belligerent, head office was experienced as insincere and dismissive - Stroud main office agreed that there was substandard work undertaken ( evidenced by photos + video ) however also stated that as the actual builder was a franchise owner Stroud Homes Head Office wasn't responsible, hence several issues went unresolved.

We had a tremendous amount of flexibility in customising the design of our home, and no request or question was met with anything but patience, a testament to the man himself because we certainly had a lot of demands!

Building commenced in August 2017, and due to the success of Stroud in it's opening year, and to ensure our home was delivered as expected, we were introduced to our building supervisor, Dean. And deliver he did! There were some hiccups along the way, but with Dean at the helm we were always informed of our homes progress, and any issues that came up were handled with care and transparency. We actually miss our weekly build updates! Our completion date was set for mid March 2018, however we were ecstatic to receive the keys to our brand new home on the 23rd February 2018.

Since moving in, the service has not stopped. We have communicated some minor issues with Dean and Travis and every time they have resolved them without any reservations.

We built in a new estate and so many of our neighbours who have built with a large company could not tell us fast enough the complaints they had. Our experience could not have been further from theirs, and we would have no hesitation in recommending them to our friends and family. Who knows, hopefully we can build with them again in future (if they would have us)!

To Travis and Dean, and the team at Stroud, we cannot thank you enough for the 100 ways you showed us we were right to trust you to build our home.
