I have a 440 litre westinghouse aurora RJ442 ( no other symbols , just that no) that has no defrost timer although it states it is a defrost fridge . I have to defrost it manually every 2 to 3 weeks to get it to work correctly . Now before you ask any questions , yes i have looked at what appears to be a foam insert that suggests it should have one . It works just fine after i defrost but it does freeze up after 2 to 3 weeks . can i adapt a timer to this model? , thank you.
you know why there is no answer ??? , because they dont know .

I have a Westinghouse fridge RJ422V-R*4 (serial no 55154074) and the door clunks every time it is opened any further than 200mm. I believe it is the opener bearing that is failing but cannot find a part no. or source any spares for this model. Any help available?
Hi Raz2, Marina from Electrolux here. If the issue you have raised is still not resolved at this time, can you please email me your contact details at customercare@electrolux.com.au attention Marina Ticket Number 1599915 We would really like to assist you. Thanks, Marina
We have the same fridge with the same problem. What's probably happened is that the hinge parts (a hinge plate and a thimble cam assembly) have worn out after many years of use. The clunk you hear is the bottom of the door rubbing the bottom. It's too late for ours because the bottom of the door has been damaged beyond repair, but perhaps it's not too late for yours. Hope this helps.
Many thanks for your help

Hi Castiglione. Our RJ422V R just died (gas leak) so we're in the market for a new one. Yesterday while we were trying to diagnose it, our service guy said that the defrost timer gets old and can get stuck on defrost. There's a hole with access to it in the roof of the fridge compartment. Following his instructions, I turned it (clockwise) with pointy nose pliers till it gave a louder 'click' (little ratchet sounds as you're turning it). It didn't turn on when I powered it at the wall, but a tiny bit more of a turn (couple of ratchets) and it came on. That apparently as part of a process-of-elimination, determines if your defrost timer is in need of replacement (ie. getting stuck in the defrost cycle). I noticed that there are parts available online. It wouldn't cost much and following Youtube for access instructions, you could swap it out and it might cure your problem. It didn't solve our issue but as your's is still getting cold when it does randomly run, your compressor and gas are intact. The defrost timer may be randomly getting stuck and unstuck. If i'm right it might be a cheap DIY fix. I'm a fitter, not a fridgie so I'm just using deductive reasoning from my limited knowledge - not experience. Good luck - if it works, it's lucky you didn't turn it off at the wall or you'd not have found out that it still gets cold. Cheers Gilbert - Brisbane
