Reliable mid size SUV, have bought it second hand and sold after 150K KM, didn't face any major issues, despite I missed few services, there was oil seepage but not sure if it was common issue with others, overall its a safer SUV to ride with family

Bought a new Honda HRV in late 2016. In 2021 during 50k service a transmission oil leak was confirmed by Honda dealer. Vehicle still in warranty at… Read more

this time.Action was to monitor. At next service the leak was again confirmed and leak was supposedly remedied by replacing transmission housing seal (2023) at a cost to me of $960 as the vehicle was now out of warranty. 16 months later (2025) there is still an oil leak this time the Honda dealer says that the leak is due to porosity of the transmission housing casting. From a literature search, it appears that the cracking evident in the photos is due to a defective casting process, a phenomenum know as "rats tails", this is not something which develops in time, it is a manufacturing defect caused by incorrect temperature control during the casting process. QAQC processes should prevent defective components like this one being used. Honda Australia have been contacted about supplying a replacement transmission and they have refused. A case has now been raised with consumer protection so we shall see how this progresses. Update - After Honda Australia was contacted by Consumer Protection they agreed that the fault was not due to wear and tear and agreed to pay for the repairs. I should not have needed to refer this case to Consumer Protection as logic and common sense should have prevailed!!

The Honda Civic Hybrid is the best hybrid hatchback you can buy under $50,000. But you probably won't buy one for one big reason: the price. A lot… Read more

of hybrid car buyers are after one thing, and that's to save money.

Honda has put a stop to any sort of discounts or haggling after recently introducing a non-negotiable pricing strategy across all of its dealerships.

It's a shame because it'll stop potential buyers who might have been interested in a Civic at $45,000 from buying a lightly used demonstrator, for example. That means fewer people driving a new Civic Hybrid, and that means fewer people telling their friends, co-workers and family members how good this car really is.

This car is so comfortable and simple to interact with. It's a delight to drive in traffic and on some twisty sections of road too. It's far from being a thrilling drive like the Civic Type R, but it feels tight for a 'base model' hatchback.

The attention to detail in every interaction with this car is next level. You'll find it hard to find a car with better switches and dials this side of $50,000.

Thanks to its large hatch, you have plenty of space for luggage and passengers too.

And it's cheap to service and extremely cheap to run. I averaged around 4L per 100km during my drive, and found that to be a very easy figure to achieve.

If my requirements for my next car were to have a cheap to run hatchback, I wouldn't look further than the Civic Hybrid. It feels more expensive than it is when it comes to the driving experience, and I thoroughly enjoy pressing buttons and engaging with the car on a day to day basis. Something that's hard to find in many other cars in this segment.

Sadly, its price is just going to be too high for many buyers, making this the best car you probably won't buy.

Best Honda I have had – I have had 6 Honda's over the last 20 odd years. This has proven to be the best. It drives well, comfortable for long journeys and city/suburban… Read more

driving. Averages 8.7 litres per 100 kls. Speedo reading is now a spot under 100,000 kls, I have just replaced original tyres. I bought it new in 2016 and have had it regularily serviced, although during COVID it was difficult as the dealership I bought the car from was removed as a preferred Honda Dealership and Honda wouldn't honour my warranty when the front drivers seat developed a small tear in the leather. I finally had it repaired by a automotive upholsteror at a cot of $300. The vehicle still responds well when required and is still serviced with Honda parts. One major drawback is the GPS, which is out of date and expensive to update.

EXTREMELY BAD SERVICE ON A NEW VEHICLE Purchased a new Honda ZR-V HEV LX from Western Sydney Honda for delivery on the 23/05/25. On pickup or… Read more

collection day on arrival at dealership we were advised that the vehicle had been damaged on the front fender, due to either negligence whilst off loading or during final clean. On inspection by ourselves it became apparent the “scratch” was more than a scratch. The vehicle had either driven over something or been dragged over an object resulting in the scratch turning into severe underneath damage from the front of the vehicle to right underneath the engine(see attacked pics) The dealer did advise repairs would be undertaken but had not inspected the vehicle properly. We had to crawl underneath the car to check the damage which included gashes, torn out securing fender bolts and a very long deep scrape/gash underneath. On contacting Honda Australia it gets diabolical as there response time is so slow, in excess of 48 hours, the only communication was to say (abbreviated of course) we will look into it. Having fully paid for a car which I have not received, have not had an update on from any parties concerned either. Honda service is clearly not on par for what you would expect from a vehicle manufacturer or supplier. This is so disappointing to encounter. Honda clearly needs a review of their operations and on how to handle “brand new damaged cars”. I would expect a call/email or message from management or the dealer. In a nutshell, you sell cars that you yourselves damage then pass off as new??? To tell a buyer of your products that sorry it’s damaged but will be fixed and then it’s “new” again is pathetic and really bad service. Let’s all see how this works out. I can see a ACCC situation coming!
