Found this mixer to be quite expensive - the softening butter feature we used once or twice - it's a bit gimmicky. much easier to just soften butter… Read more

in the microwave or take it out a bit earlier and use a cheaper mixer

I don't know if ours was just a dud (although I notice a lot of the reviews complain about the noise), but ours emitted an excruciating high pitched whine when it was in the lower power settings (spare a thought for any dogs in the neighbourhood). So much, so that I would never use it at any setting that produced it and I cringed every time it was brought out.

Most recently when we turn it off after use, it has this electrical crackling sound (like it's sparking inside). I reached out to Sunbeam and after harvesting all my information and reviewing for a few days they didn't want to know about it as it was out of the 12 month warranty period.

For the cost I would not purchase this again: 1. Had I known about the noise, I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place, and 2. Given Sunbeam's lack of interest in the product fault, I can't say I would purchase another one of their products.

Gotten me a bit inspired – I've always wanted a fancy pants stand mixer, but seeing as I don't really do a huuuge amount of baking had trouble justifying the expense. Well now… Read more

I'm doing a whole lot more, have even managed to produce some goodies that don't elicit eye-rolls from my teenagers. High accolades indeed.

So am making a heap more. Usual stuff like brownies and cupcakes. Soooo much easier making gingerbread with this, it used to kill my wrists and my hand mixer was of no use. Meringue is still something I'm trying to master, more research needed. Purely operator inexperience there though.

Christmas gingerbread house is amazing. We could all end up the size of actual houses if I keep going!!

It's quieter than I thought it would be, super easy to attach/detach the mixxy thingos (again, not a huge amount of baking in my history).

I love the handsfree-ness of it. Chuck the stuff in and let her do her magic. Cleans up like a dream.

I did struggle a bit using the guard thing that goes over the top to stop me spraying aerosolised flour all over my kitchen haha

Just loses a star because the melty softening feature didn't really work that well for me. I just gave up and bunged the butter in the microwave. Even the chocolate, went back to my old method of blasting it in 10 second bursts in the microwave.

Best birthday present this year – I make sponge cakes and meringues quite regularly and was highly impressed by the speed of the super aerator whisk. A real time saver. Strong… Read more

powerful motor. The turbo function is a welcome addition. The storage case is another reason for my 5 star review. No more searching through drawers for accessories. Well designed. Recommend highly.

Unfortunately the paddle, whisk attachment etc do not reach the bottom or sides. So when mixing there is always unmixed stuff at the bottom. I have… Read more

to stop alot, lift the attachment, remove the bowl and use a spatula to mix the sides and bottom in. Not what I expected for the price I paid. Very disappointing. It's also VERY loud. Other than that it does it's job

Surprisingly good – I’ve got an older Sunbeam handheld Mixmaster so I thought I knew what I was in for. I was expecting a light, low powered, handheld mixer but I was so… Read more

wrong.

The Sunbeam JMP1000WH is a high powered, sturdy, workhorse of a mixer. It has a whopping 6 speed settings with a burst button. It comes with two sets of attachments; beaters for cakes and meringue, and dough hooks for biscuits and bread. The mixer comes with a handy base case enclosure to keep everything together, and for only 250 watts it sure has some power.

I never imagined I’d be able to effortlessly beat perfect peaks for meringues but this outperformed my expensive stand mixer. There was no undissolved sugar stuck to the sides and no need to fold in the sides with a spatula. Cookie dough was easily combined with the dough hooks but the mixer did feel a bit heavy with the added resistance of a thicker mix.

This mixer retails at around $40 and is a great space saving addition to any cook’s kitchen.

years. What has happened to Sunbeam? How can this cheap, tinny product have made it through their quality control? I tried to mix a basic cake batter which has been made with my old mixmaster countless times - the new machine was shaking and struggling to cope and then a burnt smell escaped - what an absolute failure of a mixer. It will be returned.

I'm a long time Sunbeam mixer fan but this one is making me reconsider. You have to stop the machine to scrape the sides of the bowl to aid the… Read more

mixing process, notably with creaming butter / sugar. You also have to stop the machine to add extra ingredients, making it especially difficult and tricky if you want to slowly add an ingredient. So a poor design, particularly for using a spatula on the sides while the machine is running (dangerously impossible), or for adding ingredients during the mixing process (very awkward & difficult). The machine is robust, and presents well and is easy to clean. But I miss my old cafe series mixer and this new style is a backwards step. The baked goods are just as good as previous, but it's a more difficult cooking process.
