I have one I bought and installed in January 2023 so out of warranty. The tap water pressure is good but the nozzle pressure is weak. It used to deliver high pressure. I suspected that there is a kink inside the enclosure that is inaccessible. It cannot be pulled apart. Customers mention replacing the hose with another brand hose but the enclosed case seems to be sealed with no screws to undo the case. I am unable to be pull it apart to get to the inner workings. How do I open the case? Appears no way to email Aldi or Aldi support about this and get answers. Can't see how I can explain this on the phone.

I've never tried to open one of these retractable reels, even our last one with screws, since there's no doubt a lot of energy wound up in a spring - a bit too scary even for curious me. If you've tried every pull and release fix, hot and cold weather, and tried it with the tap turned on and off, then maybe squirt water through the opening to sort of lubricate the wound-on hose inside. A wet hose does slip through the hand easily, so maybe it also slips on itself? If that doesn't work, then maybe go to the extreme with a decent squirt of WD40 through the opening?

It's sad to see so many having trouble with this ALDI reel since our 30m one is still working really well. There's sometimes a kink or two as I pull it out, but I get rid of these while using it and reel it in while lightly holding the hose to ensure it feeds in straight and grit-free.

Our old 30m reel was probably too much hose for the (20m?) casing and a slight mis-wind around the reel would create a bump that'd foul on the inside of the casing towards the end of the wind-up. I had to let it wind slowly and give it a tug the other way even few metres to keep it tight around the reel or it'd jam. Thankfully I've not had this problem with the ALDI 30m reel.

Hope you find a fix.

3 year Warranty’s, so take it back, with receipt.

Receipt well gone as thought warranty was only 1 year. I had a builder install it on my side wall of house so that would need removing so it could be returned. I just use another standard hose when I want better flow and I also have a high pressure electric unit (like a Gerni).

What is the warranty period on the gardenline hosereel?

Simon E.

In Australia consumers are protected by strong laws that guarantee their rights regarding products that they purchase here. Basically speaking, you can disregard the warranty periods (and often the conditions) that are specified by manufacturers, and instead replace them by a 'rule of thumb' - HOW LONG WOULD YOU REASONABLY EXPECT A PRODUCT TO LAST FOR? This, perhaps surprisingly, is the legally mandated threshold that manufacturers are obligated to abide by. For example, it 'would be reasonable' to expect that a new TV should last for at least five years without requiring to be repaired or replaced. And so THAT is your warranty period. I cannot state this more strongly, IT IS IRRELEVANT WHAT THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY COMMITS THEIR PRODUCT TO! IT IS IRRELEVANT WHAT CONDITIONS THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY STIPULATES! They are superceded by AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW! And all manufacturers know this, look at the fine print on many products and you will see a CAVEAT EXEMPTING RESIDENTS OF AUSTRALIA from their warranty conditions. Apple™ provide a good example of this, look at any of their globally manufactured products and you will see a clear statement at the bottom of the product information/warranty card, that says 'Not applicable to residents of Australia'! Any product that you purchase, whether new or second hand, is AUTOMATICALLY COVERED BY AUSTRALIA'S CONSUMER PROTECTION LAWS! So, how long would the average person expect a retractable hose reel to last? Well, probably not quite as long as a TV, but maybe as long as a toaster or a kettle... 2 years, say? Have a great day!

The stated warranty is 3 years.

Yep! As Debbie S. says, “3 warranty”, so take it back and get your refund.

The hose inside my Gardenline reel has lost attachment internally (not the hose to tap, the pull out hose). Has anyone had any luck pulling the reel apart and reattaching the internal hose connection.

I have accidentally pulled the hose out too far & it won't retract even with quick pulls. I could get it to re retract with quick pull when it wasn't fully extended but not now that it is. Also no water will come out of the hose. Can it be opened to reset retraction? Ruth

I am yet another customer with a non-retracting hose. Given the number of similar reviews, surely I should get a refund with or without a receipt. What do you say, Aldi?

We purchased two of the same model. One is working great the other which had a lot less use is now fully out and will not retract. I have released the side screws which allowed the automatic rewind to release. Damaged the top of my left-hand finger. Please advise the appropriate action to repair or replace the retractable garden hose. Thanks and regards. Colin Palmer for Mrs Fae Smallie.

I bought a gardenline hose eight months ago roughly and didn't keep the receipt. I can barely get it into the garbage as it so stiff and leaks at the top. A waste of thirty dollars. Gone right off ALDI products now. The lemon tree I bought didn't grow at all either. The garden products are very bad. Seeds don't sprout. Very weird.

Is it possible to fix the hose when it gets stuck half way through the length? it retracts still but i can only use half of it.

live.larf.nlove
live.larf.nlove

Yes! Same thing happened to me. If possible leave it stretched out in sun. If that doesn't fix it. Try dunking the kink in bowl/bucket of hot water. Good luck!
