AlkaWay UltraStream Questions & Answers
VerifiedDo you sell a portable filter that does the same job as the under the sink unit, and if so, what is the price? also the price of the replaceable filters for the portable unit? Thanks, Kathy
Hi Kathy Unfortunately we don't sell a portable unit that is comparable to the UltraStream. We do sell an alkalising filter jug, however it does not remove fluoride or add Hydrogen to the water. The UltraStream Benchtop filter is quite easy to attach and remove from the kitchen tap, so you can move it easily from place to place if necessary. Please email us at info@alkaway.com.au if you would like to ask any further questions!
Best wishes Michael
About Ultrastream: I am shocked to find limescale (the chalky sediment) after just boiling 1 cup of water, using it all and letting the kettle or pot dry. Running my finger along it makes my finger look white. It's like having Very Hard Water. You show all these pretty graphics but fail to give useful information like, for instance, how many mg of calcium or magnesium per litre this alkalised water contains. My intake of the above is totally uncontrolled and is causing me problems. I regret having chosen this kind of filter. It is also not effective in other ways. Despite a pH of 10 my blood test still showed a blood pH 5! I have learned that for me it is better to have a filter producing water with a neutral pH and to look after my alkalinity/acidity balance myself. Can you please provide some REAL information as to what is in the filtered water rather than what you want us to believe it does. Uta Wight
Hi Uta. Sorry to see these comments on this site. I would have welcomed the opportunity to talk to you personally but I'll do my best to help you with your problems. Limescale. Limescale is calcium. It happens with all alkaline water systems. It's actually proof that you are getting what you asked for - alkaline water. It is easily removed using vinegar. Years ago when we supplied electric water alkalizers these seemed to create far more limescale so we all had our own water bottles which, although clear glass, became completely opaque in a very short time. Like having hard water. It IS hard water. Hard water is alkaline water. On our site we have a very interesting report of almost 100 scientific studies from around the globe demonstrating conclusively that hard water = better health and longevity. Here's the link: external link And here's an article also from our website on hard water: external link ?
No Data on Calcium and magnesium. Actually we do have very clear data on how much Ca and Mg you will get in your UltraStream. We had it tested over the estimated life of the filter at Griffith University using RO water so that we could see where the Ca and Mg came from. Here's the link to the results. We're a bit proud of this test. It was very expensive but it's the only water filter test we've seen that tells you how it should work at the end of its usable life - not just day one!
Intake uncontrolled The instruction manual shows how to control input. By increasing flow rate using the valve under the unit, you also increase amounts of Ca and Mg, and pH, and hydrogen.
Not effective? You are drinking at at a very high pH which indicates to me that you have in running slowly, or your water is already high in alkaline minerals. (This may also Exp,ain the white hard water effect) I'm confused about how you have derived a reading of pH5 in your blood. Two points here: a) Blood always rebalances within minutes to a very small range between pH7 and pH 7.35. b) A blood pH of 5 would be fatal - fast, so I am concluding that they test you are using must be faulty.
Neutral pH better? Frankly, I like alkaline water because of all of the research I have done and referred to you, but I tend to agree with you that perhaps a good alkaline diet is easier and more effective than water. To supply your alkaline buffer with sufficient alkaline minerals to manage our acid overload would mean we'd be drinking gallons! personally I have a flat teaspoon of our Alkaline Booster every morning. It's a synergistic mix in the proven correct proportion of the four big alkaline minerals and I KNOW my alkaline buffer has received what I need.
However.. what I am very excited about is the Ultrastream''s ability to create and infuse molecular hydrogen. It infuses between uses so the best dose of this comes after the Ultrastream has been sitting an hour or so. for more information, the website external link is wonderful.
Uta, we have been around for 20 years because of our motto which is "Happy Customers, Happy Us. Please talk to the team if this info hasn't helped you. I do understand that there are many people selling their version of alkalinity. We simply talk about what we have experienced for the last 20 years.
Thanks for posting.

I care about this product. As I don not live in Australia, so I would like to know if this product has the spare filter or not. My friend bought this product 3 years ago and she told me that her product included a spare filter. What is the price of the filter if I buy one more? Many thanks
It comes with a filter but not a spare one. Filters are $250 each.
I have an Ultrastream and it tastes terrible. May I ask why?
I had a similar problem, I live in an area with very alkaline water (Perth) and the Ultrastream makes the water even more alkaline, beyond a certain PH level the water becomes unpalatable.
You need to contact Alkaway and ask what you can do. Go to their website.
Hi, Shar, yes, Perh water has shown itself to be a problem because of its hardness and its iron content. However we have found a solution. Give us a call or email ~Ian AlkaWay
I'm about to purchase my first Alkaway filter
We have 'cast iron' mains pipes delivering our water supply consequently we have to clean iron residue build-up from the Ceramic component on our current filter every week
Will I have any problems with Iron Residue or other build-up affecting the Alkaway?
You need to contact Alkaway Australia direct, I would suggest emailing or phoning them. They will be happy to answer your questions, just go to their website for information too.
Hi Chris, Our independent lab tests show that the UltraStream does remove over 98% of iron for the life of the filter. However we would highly recommend installing a polyspun pre-filter just before the UltraStream to protect it from being clogged with the iron residue and potentially reducing the filter life.
Please call me on 1800 268 469 if you would like to order or have any further questions!
Best wishes, Michael
What is the price?
external link external link external link The above websites sell them, around $500 but keep an eye on ebay sometimes you can get it on sale. All the information about it is on the alkaway website and a new model is coming soon too, so this one will end up cheaper hopefully.
Hi would someone be able to confirm the general ph level of the water from the ultrastream? I am considering purchasing but wanted to know the above before I bought but could not find anything that referred to this. Thanks
Contact Alkaway they are very helpful or check out their website.
What is the price ?
My husband keeps asking me if hydrogen is in the water why no bubbles? The website does not address this only to say its infused in the water. Can you elaborate?
The Hydrogen is dissolved in the water. If you see the bubbles, it can be Hydrogen produced by the system but not dissolved in the water and escaping. To test the Hydrogen in the water, you need a H2 blue reagent. The Hydrogen level can go up to 1.2ppm
Are Alkastream and UltraStream both made by AlkaWAY ?
I have looked in product info & questions & answers - it does not say.
Yes they are but Ultrastream superseded the Alkastream, but the filters are still available. The Minwell+ alkaline water filter is similar but sold by another company you need to google that. That filter also fits the Alkastream if you have that already. See also external link
Thanks to know the difference
I just googled Minwell filters, they don't remove fluoride. Some suggest that they are a Chinese knock off

Hi
I am looking for a good chlorine; flouride and heavy metal removing water filter without the need for RO and wasting too much installation space. My husband is stage 3 kidney disease and am worried about the extra PH in the alkaway ultrastream as his kidneys would have extra burden of more minerals. What is the PH of the water from ultrastream and will it do more harm to his kidneys?. Do you provide something which can keep the PH at max 8 and still give clean water??? Very confused with dangers of increased PH levels for my hubby.
Many thanks
Benaifer
I am only a user not a seller so I would go to their website for more information, how to install and how it works etc. Also you can ask them directly for further information and even call and talk to them they are very helpful. Here is the link:

Hi currently looking for the best water purify for my family and to share to my friends. Does any one know where I can find the independent studys done in the water. Some one said there was one done by an Australian
The report is on the alkaway website.
It is here: external link

Hi, I've had an alkaway for about 4 years now and love it. But I've just recently replaced the filter and this time the water tastes terrible, like I can imagine the bottom of a pond would taste. Why is that?
Thank you for your time
Hi, I have the Alkaway Ultrastream
Yes, Pixi, we did receive a small batch of filters with problems. Apparently the factory in California stores a different form of bulk filtration media next to ours and it somehow infused that taste. It was a tough one to find out but we've replaced every one we know about.
I inquired about this 3 years ago. I ended up spending more money on another filter for my alkaway which was very annoying, but nothing was done to help me. I should have gone with a completely system, but i had never had any problems with alkaway before that.
Hi Pixi, please email me at info@alkaway.com.au with your invoice details and I will see if I can help with a credit on your next replacement filter. Best wishes, Michael
Thank you Michael, I'm sure i'll have no problem finding an invoice. I have however replaced the filter again since replacing the problem one, so i won't be needing a replacement filter for another few months or so. I hope that's okay. Thank you, I appreciate your time, Pixi
No problem Pixi, if you can't find the invoice, simply call our office on 1800 268 469 and we can check your records for you. Michael
My hose burst..can this be replaced? Could not find any on website
Hi Ginnie,
Have you rung Alkaway, I am sure they will help.
Pippi
The black button to push to use tap or ultra stream is very difficult to push in . How do I fix this?
Hi Nelson,
Have you rung Alkaway? They are always very good with me.
Pippi
Can you use this with soft water?
Yes you can. The great thing about the ultrastream is that it adds minerals to the water to alkalize it whereas the electric ones can only act upon the minerals already in town water. On the flip side if you have hard water it will soften it.
Having problems with undersink kit, had it fitted and seemed fine within 10 mins started leaking!! Help!
Hi Karen,
Leaking? What do you mean? Where from?
Ring alkaway they can answer your problem.
what kind of filter do I need for ALKAWAY Ultrastream filter?
Hi Gunda,
You need a special UltraStream filter.
Can I connect this to my water line going to my fridge so I can have cold water and ice?
Hi JB, I've not thought of that! I don't know if it will work, but worth contacting them to see if it can. external link
No you can t .i enquired about this. You need an open end after they ultrastream.gas is produced and needs to breathe from the unit. You will see it drips on occasion when not in use.inline in a fridge line won't allow the unit to breathe.yes it's a pity
