What pods are suitable for this machine
What coffe pods are compatible I bought some lavassie don’t seem to fit
What should the temperature be for black coffee from this machine?
My temperature is about 68 - 70°Celsius.
I find the coffee capsules too strong & leave a bitter taste in the mouth. Is there a capsule collection that is not expresso?
Lór make compatible capsules that aren’t as strong. I find the number 8 is great. You can get them from Woolworths, Coles and Aldi. They’re a lot cheaper than Nespresso capsules too.
One tip that I learned relatively recently is to only use the short shot. You may think it's better value or stronger or more or whatever to use the long shot, but if you run too much water through a coffee pod it does end up getting bitter. Use the short shot and top up the rest of the cup with hot water or milk. Or if you want a big mug full of coffee, run two shots into it. It makes it taste a lot better!
We use https://www.urbanbrew.co for our pods and we love them. You can strengths 6, 8, 10 ,12, 14 and 16! We use strength 8, and we quite like it. So there are definitely options out there and stronger isn't always better. The Urban Brew pods are also biodegradable, which is great, and a lot cheaper than the Nespresso ones.
Where do you buy urban brew pods
But do they fit
Our machine is only 5 months old and used once a day. The machine does not deliver enough water for a shot. The delivery of the shot is only about 2 seconds and then goes off. Is there something I can do or is the machine shot, haha.
It's possible that someone has accidentally reprogrammed the water volume. If you press and hold one of the buttons, it will dispense water for as long as you hold down the button and then will remember that new setting. So if someone pressed down the button for 2 seconds, that would have done it. We had visitors do that a couple of times on our old machine.
So to fix it, put a small measuring cup under the spout and hold down one of the buttons until you've measured out 30mL (recommended by pod suppliers) or 40mL (original machine setting). It's tempting to get MOAR COFFEE! by using a longer shot per pod, but it turns out that it can affect the taste if you run it through the pod for too long. It's better to use a smaller shot and then top up with hot water or hot milk, or run two shots.
Does it fit the Aldi Size pods?
I havent tried to use the Aldi pods because we have found that the Arpeggio pods from Nespresso are great! Suit our taste and just order those each time, tried heaps and we like these the best!
But Nespresso dont have Hot Chocolate flavour though do they? Or do you know of another brand that fits in the hot chocolate?
Yes. They fit and work just as well. Same with the Woolies brand "Nespresso" compatible pods and various other brand "Nespresso" compatible pods. Do not get confused with "Expressotoria" pods. They are only for Expressotoria machines and in my opinion terrible. Why pay Espresso equivalent to over $100 per kilo for coffee just for covenience of a pod when you can pay much less (but still overpriced) by using other brand compatible "Nespresso" pods. Woolies are regularly having them on special.
Why is my machine leaking water after use and drip trays and capsule pod tray is empty
Do all Nespresso pods work in the different Nespresso machine or are the certain Nespresso capsules for the different Nespresso machine?
The traditional Nespresso Pods work in this machine, but Nespresso have recently introduced a bigger fatter pod and that does not work in this machine.
So if i buy from the supermarket how do i know if i have the right one?
If the pods have "virtuo" on them then they are the newer ones. They also have a very rounded bottom so they are easily distinguishable from the "original" pods.
Does the nespresso essenza minisolo use pods?
Yes it uses the Nespresso pods.
Does the machine only produce little coffees???
It has two options a small espresso, and a lungo option. I usually have a lungo and then fill it up with milk and drink from a mug so it’s a decent coffee from such a small machine.
What Nespresso Capsules you can use with this machine?
Coles sell a great range of capsules to suit the Nespresso called LOR, excellent value and a great range to suit most coffee enthusiasts. Not to mention you dont have to buy 100 pieces or so like you do from Nespresso online.
we used the L'OR brand, there is a great range available at Coles
You are honestly better off buying the Nespresso pods. They are an extra $3 compared to the above mentioned LOR but they are better quality, for taste but also the health of your machine. Even though the LOR are Nespresso compatible, the coffee is always weaker and overtime they can affect how well your machine produces coffee.
As a side note you don’t have to buy 100 capsules from Nespresso. You can buy as many or as little as you want, if you go into the Nespresso shop, they are often giving out free pods too. Worth the extra few dollars.
