I recently replaced the motor in our DC37C vacuum cleaner. The problem I had was I couldn't get the post hepa filter out. There were two white tabs which I believe are instrumental in removing the hepa filter but I tried everything and nothing worked. I would like to replace this filter as the machine now emits a burnt smell due to the previous motor burning out. Hope you can help. Dave

Hi there, does the DC37C have a HEPA filter? And if so how often should I be replacing it? Thanks
Hi R S. Dyson DC37C™ has two filters, one's the washable filter which fits into the cyclone above the clear bin - which should be washed at least every 3 months, and allowed to fully dry for at least 24 hours. There is a HEPA filter inside the main body, it's designed to last the machine's usable lifespan. Due to its proximity to the motor and electrical components, the HEPA filter can only be accessed or replaced by a Dyson technician during service.

If you have a turbine head on your Dyson machine and the turbine head is blowing dust around, there is most likely a blockage within the turbine head itself. We recommend to remove the brushbar using a ten or twenty cent coin to twist the cap at the end of the cleanerhead that retains the brushbar counterclockwise (as shown here: external link . Once done, you will be able to remove both the cap and the brushbar. Please then check the cavity where the brushbar was in the cleanerhead and clear out any debris. You should be able to look through the neck of the head and see straight through. Please then reassemble and retry the turbine.
This should help, however if it doesn't or you don't have a turbine head on your machine, we kindly encourage contacting our Dyson Experts via phone or live chat. You can find our details and chat links here: external link

Hi , Can I use a turbine head of DC 37 to vacuum the hard wood floor? Chau
Once the spinning brushes are turned off (either by pressing the red disc on the side of the turbine head, or pressing the silver button on the handle depending on model), you will be able to use it on hard floors.

I have a Dyson 37c. It turns on fine and produces significant suction from the intake, but when I attach the cyclone barrel there is no suction and I only hear what sounds like a ball inside the machine get sucked up and block the air flow. The tubes, head, filters and cyclone have been completely disassembled and cleaned, so the issue is not blockage. Any ideas?
This sound from in the ball indicates the machine's safety release valve is being triggered which is due to the machine's airways being restricted. Understanding you have gone through troubleshooting, we would kindly encourage checking this video here: external link

I bought my DC37C in June 2017. Today it just stopped and there was a faint burning smell emanating from it. I have only timber floors and a few rugs and no pet hair. I want to know if it is fixable? I'm very disappointed, as I really thought a vacuum would last more than 3 years
Thank you for your question. This sounds highly unusual and we'd like the opportunity to look into this for you. So we can assist you further please send through an email to auaskdyson@dyson.com with the serial number of your machine and one of our experts will be in touch as soon as possible.

Hi i have a dyson dc37 that I truly liked alot. I have had it for a few years now and it always worked well until the other day when it all of a sudden made A weird noise and a burnt smell followed very Quickly. Before I could react it had shut down. I'm an electrician and I knew it smelled like the motor. Since the warranty was up I took it apart and was surprised to find that the nut in the center of the engine had came loose and had been bouncing around in there until it jammed and did its damage. Is there a way that I can get another motor? I'm willing to change it out myself. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Ken
Should you wish to purchase a motor for your machine, this can be done once our Dyson Experts have sighed your electrical credentials. Please forward these and your query to auaskdyson@dyson.com and we will be only happy to help.
Hello, Our carpet head attachment has been working well until today. When we start the machine, it will start spinning for about 2-3 secs and then stop. Even as we let it run, it wouldn't do anything. We have cleaned out all the hair and there are nothing blocking it. Last time we used it, it would do the same thing, but after shutting off the machine and starting it again, it will start spinning fine. However, today, it just wouldn't spin except for the first 2-3 secs. Could you help us with this?
We will only be happy to help get this sorted. DC37C Dysonhas been great until today when once you turn it off it makes a strange sound. The pressure when you remove the head is pretty good but place it back and suction is a little weaker. I've checked all possible openings for blockage but none. The only sound is place your hand on the hose to suction then remove and turn off, and that's when the strange sound eventuates.
This can indicate a blockage somewhere else within the machine. We would encourage running through the troubleshooting outlined here: external link Hopefully this should help getting your machine working as normal, however if we can assist further, our Dyson Experts are available Monday - Friday 8am - 7pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm AEST on 1800 239 766.
