When opening the vacuum to clean the exhaust filter I found that it had disinterrated. Can a replacement filter be purchased?

I have an Electrolux Twinclean which has worked well for me until sometime ago when the dirt began accumulating and gathering in the cone filter section rather than in the adjacent dirt chamber. Any help?

I recently purchased new filters for my machine. We put everything back in, now machine powers up but there is no suction

What is the purpose of the black insulation like material around the fan housing of a Electrolux Cyclonic twinclean 13M XXL Vacuum Cleaner. This has disintegrated and does not appear seem to be necessary for the unit to function. Does it act as part of the air filtering system? Please advise me. Warren Reid

What causes the motor to surge in an Electrolux cyclonic twin clean Z8273 vacuum cleaner.

Tony

Did you find a solution yet Robert? My Electrolux does similar. Sometimes (more often than not) If I plug it into the mains the motor starts immediately and surges. The switch on the machine won't turn it off only the switch on the wall socket.

Hi Guys Cyclonic 13M XXL Reach keeps showing me it is a filter problem. I do not have my book to look what filter to change. Can you please help

Hi

I have a problem with my Electrolux twinclean cyclonic 13 m XXL REACH

The problem is that the machine does not switch on.

I was vacuuming and it did not suck that well so I cleaned out the the blockage in the machine and after switched it on and it worked well.

Then I vacuumed for a while and switched it off and after 5 min tried to switch it back on but nothing happened.

No flashing lights totally nothing like there is no power.

I tried different power points with no results.

I had this machine for many years and it worked very well and certainly did some real hard work cleaning my house.

Has it life span come to an end or is there something I can do to bring it back to life?

Kind regards

Johan

Hi had trouble with power head on vac model Z8240 motor stops when power head I turned on purchased new one Still same trouble. Any ideas?

Platycat
Platycat

Hoppy, if I were having the same trouble as you -- (and I was) I would buy another type of cleaner -- I bought a Dyson -- and count your losses as mine has done the same thing again, after I gave it away to a friend after I had paid to replace the power head/handle, which cost me $104 my Friend tells me it is doing the same thing again.

I would never buy another Electrolux product even though up till this I always bought them.

Ours will turn off randomly and often. We used heavy packing tape around around the hose where the flexible hose attaches to the solid plastic piece that inserts into the machine. It seems that when this bends too much the power would turn off. Not sure, but it works.

Gil
Gil

the two pins where the hand piece joins the extension tube carry the current for the power head, the sockets can move and you get an intermittent connection there. The plastic is very fragile too. So inspect the two connectors at either end of the extension tube first.

Model Z8240 vacuum , keeps switching off after a few minutes , filters have been replaced but still happening . I have found this machine to be a great machine until now , have had no other problem. I have had the machine serviced 2 years back , but thi's problem is very frustrating as it takes all day to vacuum .

Hope someone can help me with this .

I am having same problem - did you solve it?

Coco

No , they have just straight wired it , so switch on and off at power point .

I’m having same problem with a Cyclonic twin clean. Worls for a few minutes, switches off, and i need to wait 10 mins before turning back on, trying again, only for it to same thing.

Coco
Coco

As I said they straight wired it ,but was hard to use . Puchased another vac cleaner.

Ours will turn off randomly and often, but turns right back on. I think the wiring in the hose goes bad and if you bend the hose in the wrong way, it turns off. We used heavy packing tape around the hose where the flexible hose attaches to the solid plastic piece that inserts into the machine. This added stability and worked.

Our barrel Electrolux vacuum cleaner won't click into place. It is like something is catching at the back end of the removable barrel that prevents it clicking into place. Any suggestions?

tony88
tony88

Hello Celine, You may have the rear blue HEPA filter installed incorrectly. Check this by removing the white latches below the removable barrel to take out the white cover, and flipping the blue filter the other way around and reinstalling the white cover. I hope this helps. If it doesn't resolve your issue maybe try fiddling with it a little more, or calling Electrolux.

My unit will only switch on from the power point and runs at half power, the on/off switch on the unit and the power switch will not light up at all. I have thoroughly cleaned the 3 filters by washing in luke warm water and detergent and drying but to no avail, have I missed something?

tony88
tony88

Hello Bob, I have not experienced what you have described with my own twinclean. However, from what you are describing it seems like there is either a blockage still within the machine or the machine has an electrical fault with it. Have you checked whether theres a blockage in the machine?

In the main body, lift out the 2 cylinder filters. This will reveal a grey tab. Pull on this to remove the small door. Then look inside the cavity to see whether there are any materials stuck there. If there is, remove them. After this do the reverse to put the machine back together. You might want to also check for blockages elsewhere on the machine such as the: wand, motorhead/vacuum head, hose, hose inlet, cone shaped thing inside the dust canister, and anywhere else where you think blockages may have occurred. Hopefully this resolves the issue. However, if the issue persists I would recommend calling Electrolux and troubleshoot with them as well. You may need to replace the HEPA and/or cylinder filters. If you are in Melbourne, bring it into VacuumSpot and let them see what's wrong with it and whether there's an economical fix for it.

I hope this helps,

Tony

I need to know what is wrong with the vac. Your answer does not answer my question.

tony88
tony88

Hello Sparra, I think the issue is with the filters. They might be dirty. Have you tried removing and cleaning the filters (cylinder shaped ones) with a spare paint brush and/or another vacuum? If it has been a while from the last time you cleaned it then a thorough clean is worth the time. Remember to clean both of the filters.

If after cleaning the filters the issue still persists then check the rear HEPA filter. There are tabs at the rear of the machine when you lift out the dust canister. Undo these tabs to remove the HEPA filter. Then place the filter up to the light, you should be able to see a very small amount of light (dim light) pass through the filter. If you cannot then this filter may need cleaning too. To do this, whilst the filter is removed, tap the filter clean on a hard surface outside until you can see light pass through. This will hopefully remove dust on the HEPA filter. After you have done this, place the filter back into the machine.

If after this step the issue still persists, then you need to look for blockages in the vacuum. In the main body, lift out the 2 cylinder filters. This will reveal a grey tab. Pull on this to remove the small door. Then look inside the cavity to see whether there are any materials stuck there. If there is, remove them. After this do the reverse to put the machine back together. You might want to also check for blockages elsewhere on the machine such as the: wand, motorhead, hose, hose inlet, cone shaped thing inside the dust canister, and anywhere else where you think blockages may have occurred. Hopefully this resolves the issue. However, if the issue persists I would recommend calling Electrolux and troubleshoot with them as well. You may need to replace the HEPA and/or cylinder filters.

I need a new rear grill for my Z8256 (number on bottom of vacuum). Is this the same as the Z8266?

This is the closest I could find. external link . Would it work?

Thanks!

Hi Amanda, I checked your link and it looks exactly like the rear grill for my twinclean Z8280. Is yours a twinclean too? If it is then go for it! However, if you are not 100% sure then you can call vacuumspot and double check with them first before buying the part.

Thanks tony88.

Yes it is a twin clean and yes it looks identical.

Hi, I have had my Electrolux Twinclean Cyclonic for about 3 years and in my opinion has been one of the best vacum cleaners ever made. Unfortunately in the last week it keeps shutting off after a few seconds with the lights both flashing. Switch it off for awhile, switch it back on and a few seconds same happens. I was advised by local vacum supplier to replace the filters. I Have installed two new filters which are not cheap, but the same still happens. Can anyone give me any further advise please, as this is a really good vacum

Hi there, I have had mine for 8 years. Great machine but it is now sadly giving up the ghost as the electrical connections between the head and hose are not sound. . Had the same problem as you a couple of times. The machine switches itself off when it overheats due to a blockage somewhere - it's a safety feature. Check the dust compartment - on the opposite side of the "open lever' is a grey cap. Remove this and clean the little internal mesh cylinder. I had a small plastic bread bag stuck in there. We also managed to suck up a toothpick which lodged itself in the channel between the hose plug - in point on the main unit and the dust compartment. Remove the hose and use a bent wire to scratch around inside the channel to check for blockages.

The main unit still sucks like the day I bought it. I am disappointed that the attachments are letting this machine down.

I have rung Electrolux and the Lass said it maybe needs a "service" -- (a service this is NOT a car and my Electrolux 720 was bought in the early 70s and that has never been "serviced" and is STILL working well.) A service will mean a 80 K round trip to the service place PLUS what it costs to be fixed!

I have sent Electrolux a message on their on-line form, it will be interesting to see if I hear from them as I have also given them my Mobile and home phone numbers as well as my email address.
