hi my engel 45 fridge/freezer runs well on 240 but blows the 10 amp blade fuse !! my battery is 14. volts at the plug., tried a couple of 10 amp fuses still blowing the fuses !! we have just come back from a 4 week trip on the road everything worked.. Ido not have a inline fuse just the 10 amp blade fuse my engel is only 4 years old can you advise please BarraBob
Possibly overvoltage on the 12V cable, causing the 15V Zener-diode on the control board to short circuit. The zener acts as a over-voltage protection for the fridge. When the voltage exceeds 15V it short circuits to protect the electronics.
Had this on my 2013(?) mod 40L Engel. My Discovery4 has a Nippon Denso alternator which sometimes exceeds 15V. This probably blew the zener and left the 12V intake on the fridge short circuited, hence the cigarette lighter fuse on the car kept blowing.
My brother the electronics guy just snipped it off and said "nice safety feature but you hopefully wont need it". Have not had the problem since.
Bring it to your TV or electronics repair guy - he will find it, it is a small electronics board.

My cigarette lighter socket is not working I’ve taken the cover off and the nut was loose so I’ve tightened it and it still not working also the voltage has been jumping all over the place for the last couple of months can you help me please
Have the 38L Fridge Freezer Combo, Plastic version though. Looking to put on the back of my ute exposed to all weather conditions. Was curious to find out if other people have had it exposed on the back of utes for a period of time and if there were any problems? Cheers
My Engel fridge won’t turn on with either cord and have checked all fuses
How do i change the fuse in mr40f_g4 fridge freezer
Your fridge will have two fuses. A 10A red blade fuse in the unit itself, and another in the 12V cord. I have never had to replace the red 10A blade fuse, but I would assume it's just a standard automotive fuse that are readily available from any Auto store. To replace the 10A, cut all power to the unit and remove it using a fuse puller. You can borrow a puller from the fuse box in your car. The other fuse is a special thermal fuse. To access it, screw the head off your lead (the end that plugs into the lighter socket). Make sure you buy the proper fuse. BCF or any camping store that sells Engel will stock them and will cost you about $12.00. Hope this helps.
I have my 40lt engel set on between 2 and 3 and it freezing all the stuff inside. Is this too higher a setting?
I find mine will freeze food on 3, if the door is kept closed for a long period. I would suggest you turn it down to 1.5 - 2.0 and see how it goes. Check the compressor is stopping and kicking back. Another suggestion is buy a thermometer so you can check the temperature. Just but a cheap one from somewhere like eBay.
Why will my engal MT-V60L only work on 240v not 12volts
Don't know, broken maybe
In-line fuse in the 12 volt cord
I have just used my fridge as a freezer for the last two months, and just yesterday I noticed it is cutting in and out every three seconds. Can you please advise me if there is any way to reset fridge, or is the motor stuffed? Thank you for your great knowledge.
22ltr Engel were is the fuse
Hi Folks, I'm in the process of running my cable through some headboards so I need to take the two pin head off so I'm left with just a bare wire so I can thread it through conduit and then reconnect it up. I cannot seem to find a way to get it open to detach the Pos and Neg wires? Any ideas on how I can get into it or is it a cut and renew? Thanks Lee

Hi my engal won’t cool down anymore on either 12vt or 240vt, all lights are on and you can hear what I believe is the motor running, how do I tell if my compressor is still working or not?.
I have a MR 40F Engal and it is running but it won’t cool down, all lights and compressor are working, have tried on both 12 vt and 240. Can you please advise what might be wrong. Could it be a fuse, or would it not run if it was a fuse blown?
If your compressor is running, you have power so its not the fuse. I would suggest you get it checked, sounds like a gas problem. Did you drop it or has it been hit?
No I don’t recall it being dropped or hit. Was working at home prior to coming on holidays. Was a very hot day when we attempted to turn it on out side, we would normal have it running in the Ute on the way to holidays to have cool when we arrive but this time we didn’t, would that have caused any issue?. Could you advise of who to take it to for it to be looked at f it is a gas issue? We live in regional Victoria.
Engel 40 ltr seems to run all the time on 240volt could it be low in gas or a faulty temperature control Thank you Brian
I would suggest you get it checked, if it runs continuously it might be the thermostat. I am using mine (over 10 years old) at the moment and run it on 12V while traveling and 240V when we arrive at our destination. Have the temp setting on 2, which keeps food nice and cold. Any higher than that, I find things will start to freeze.
Thanks for thought yes mine about same age
Mine is doing the same, too cold - motor always on - Setting on the dial is just after turned on, the cool setting. Far from regrigerate or freeze. What was the problem with yours Brian?
Have had this fridge for a few weeks now. Works great. Have it mounted on a bench behind my driver's seat in a space cab dmax. The problem I have with it though is the rattling. At first I thought it was the basket rattling in it. But no, does not matter if the basket is in or out or fridge full or empty. The fridge pretty much rattles all the time, even on the smoothest roads. It's driving me insane because it's right behind me. Will be taking it back to the shop to inspect but thought I'd ask if this is normal? Has anyone else experienced this and has advice to fix before taking it into the shop? TIA
my Engel fridge freezer cuts out hen starts strait back up when it is on freezer. But when it is on fridge cuts out stays off approximately 2minutes is this normal.

Hi If you have it turned all the way around to freeze that is not needed, to freeze all you need to freeze is have it a bit more than half way between number 2 and 3 if you have it tuned right up to freeze it will keep on starting up only because it is to high you do not need it that high give that a try, if you ever want to use it as a fridge do not have it turned up higher than 1 that is ample to keep things cold. just use trial and error as I did
I have a 21 yr old 39lt Engel that works fine. Problem is that it drains power from the battery even when the fridge is turned off. If I unplug the lead from the fridge there is no drain, but when it’s connected there is. Any ideas.
Does my Engel portable fridge need to have the catch locked to seal while camping
