Greatbull GBD601C Questions & Answers
MPN: GBD601CLooking to purchase a Great Bull GBD601ch chipper. Can anyone give me some feedback about the machine. David
Hi David bought mine about 1 1/2 years ago second hand... supposed 20 HP key start, would have to say for a Chinese made shredder , it has worked well , i have put many hours on it and would definitely buy it again, doubt whether it has 20Hp , but it will shred anything you put in it.
Motor is good, shredder is ok, branch cutter is ordinary. Would i buy it again, probably not. The branch cutter doesn't deliver and the waste is so low that the waste backs up into the machine and needs constant clearing.
Did any one have trouble with the output chute ........ mine only throws the mulch a maximum of 500mm away from machine .... and so blocks up the chute after only seconds of use ..... did anyone use the bag supplied ?
Hi Reece, it is probably the only downside to the shredder, i made a stand to get it higher of the ground , which helps, but you still have to keep the material out of the way, having it higher means you don't have to keep clearing it as often.
I would agree that it is a downside, also the rated capacity of the chipper chute is 3 inches, this would only be for very soft wood
Thank you Mark. The stand idea is good, however that means you are further from your material. My other idea is to use a garden blower underneath the chipper and blow it into a bag. But seriously, anyone who has done any mulching will know that this is a Bulk sport. And you don't want to be clearing chutes every three minutes, you want to be continually feeding, With my previous machine I would only stop if I run out of petrol or branches, otherwise the job would take too long. I call this a Bad Design. Cannot believe that I am the first to complain.
Used my old garden blower underneath the chipper . Now i can mulch until i run out of branches. Turned a machine that I was fearing would cost me a lot of time { clearing } , into an excellent chipper. The rest of the machine is great, motor is powerful and rarely slows during feeding, and hopper and feed chute do not block easily { I am now a fan of flail hammers } . I would now happily recommend this chipper { just buy a $50 dollar blower with it } . Happy mulching guys and gals.
