Hansa C4 Chipper Questions & Answers
VerifiedI'd like to know whether any of of these chipper/mulchers are well suited to shred cardboard boxes (for compost)?
Hello Pater, our chippers will process cardboard but the cardboard needs to be cut into strips to be able to fit down the inlet chute. The throat on the C4 is 10cm x 13cm. The C7 has a larger throat opening of 13cm x 15cm. which would probably be better suited for processing cardboard.
Thanks John : )
I shredded some cardboard with the C4 to fill the raised garden bed. It works. You dont have to be precise with cutting up the cardboard, folding it over in pieces works (like you would do it putting in to recycle bin).
Thanks karl. It seems then there would be no problem with a C7?
Where are these sold?
At Shtl Northshore Auckland

Hi, I need to mulch paper for composter without jamming up, will it do that?
Cheers! Kelvin
Can't tell you at this stage Kelvin - aiming to have the blue chopper out this weekend so will do some experimenting for you! All in the name of science
Thanks let me know cheers Kelvin
Hi Kevin Sorry for the delay but did experiment for you and not great results if you compare with an office shredder. Did not clog up at all but mainly chopped it into chunks, rather than shreds - did the same with cardboard I checked with. OK if the paper is not confidential but an A4 was in about 4 or 5 bits, a little crunched up, but very readable
