Take all your filters out and clean them ,check the tubes are clear from debris,remove battery clean contacts,place battery in again,also clean brushes, remove and make sure there's no string from carpet around the rollers ,mine did the same I've had mine well over 11 years and is still going strong,also make sure the barrel is connected properly give this a go this machine has not let me down,and when you go to charge it the light will be red,when fully charged it will go green also some times the connectors where you put your tubes into each other become loose and this will cause your ultra light to dysfunction try these trouble shooting

Yes, I think you are right about contact of power points. So, do you have suggestions of improving this???

No you can't it will get overheated and could cause a fire or explode it's not good for the battery

Hi Sandy, The machine can be left on charge if used regularly and run flat when used. If the machine is not being used for an extended period of time it is recommended not to leave it on charge. Regards, The Hoover Team

I find out that I make sure my hoover is fully charged when the light turns blue ,I keep an eye on it once it's blue I remove it from the charge and switch it off,as I said my hoover is well over 10 year old and it's still going just give it a thorough clean ,filters and the head sometimes gets cotton around the rollers remove roller and clean, then wipe to get dust off the head because it can build up dust in the head of the vaccum then its all smooth sailing mines still going and it's 14 year old not 10

I had it it's a waste of money

Complete rubbish. Constantly breaking, worked poorly when it worked at all.

Never replaced my filter just keep up the maintenance mines over ten years old never replaced the filter just do your own maintenance by blowing the filter out and clean it and the rollers,and the barrel

You need to remove filter,clean it,also remove brushes clean them,wipe the head of the vaccum,take the barrel off ,empty barrel ,twist the red filter remove and clean ,then after you do this it should run like new,I have had mine for over ten years,you don't need a new motor try this also clean the head to remove the grit on the bottom of the head,and when you remove brush,wipe inside as overtime it gets a build up of dust now put it all together you will be amazed

I have never checked the time . But It always takes more time and energy because its sucking is so weak and you have to pass It over the same place more than one time to give you a result. My advice for you. Don't buy it .it's a waste of money .

My ultra light battery is over 10 year old ,don't overcharge your battery,do your maintenance and your ultra light will last,I pull my apart and do my own maintenance and it's still like knew,clean your filters ,wipe it over as it gets grit on the bottom but there the best on the market if I can get over 10 years and it's still going love mine and I have all hoover also clean your brush remove it as it can get thread from carpets around the spindle do this and your ultra light will last

Mines the earlier model mine was worth alot more and over 10years on battery and still going mines the white and grey one worth a lot more than 100

Batteries do die and as the manufacturer has no idea how we use it they have Avery short warranty but one year is not great at all so I’d be taking it back to the store. We got around 3 years out of ours before replacing

Hi, The Ultra Light 5221 can be left on the charger between uses, however, it is recommended to run the machine flat every few uses before recharging. It is also recommended to turn the charger off if the machine is going to be unused for an extended period of time. Regards, The Hoover Team

They told me it needs a new battery. Only around $100 nearly as much as the stick and has to be used regularly. Shonky product. Nothing in the instructions to say this. Bin it

Hi Michelle, not too sure what causes that noise. Make sure everything is turned off before charging, Otherwise, take it is for a check-up.
