Water leaking apparently from under machine, replaced water tank to no avail.

I have just broken the plastic jug while attempting to remove it from the back of my expresso machine. It has been difficult to remove ever since I bought it and it was only a matter of time before I knew this would happen. This is a very poor design feature of this expensive product and I would like it to be replaced. Thank you.

Hi, two problems. First -whole cup not filling up, lots of water ending up in the tray, second - getting coffee grounds in the cups. Have descaled but it doesn't help. Could the coffee filter be broken?

I keep getting coffee grounds in some cups. Not all. Thought it was dodgy pods (all Nespresso) but now not sure. Regularly descale etc. any ideas brains-trust?

Have had my machine for about 5 years, it is used 4/6 times a day and has worked perfectly until recently. Water has started to leak from underneath the machine, but I have been unsuccessful in finding exactly where it is coming from. Could it be a washer or something like that? I am really desperate to get it repaired. Love it so much I would buy another if a black one was still available.

Hi, did you ever find out the cause of this and how to repair? We’re experiencing the same issue atm

AndyLaws

I took out the front assembly (drip tray, pod collector etc.) to empty the used pods and to empty the drip tray and generally clean up the assembly. Now when I try to refit the assembly, it won't slot back into position. If I take off the used pod bin at the back, it fits, if I re-attach the used pod bin, it won't fit and is pushed back from the machine by about a quarter of an inch. Really annoying. Any ideas what might cause this? Are there sensors to prevent detaching the front assembly when the machine is on for example?

Chris

Before you can put the pod bin in The black tray that collects all the water, it has to be recessed into the outer casing correctly. There is two notches for the outer casting to push into the black drip tray (Square holes). Sometimes if you don’t put that in correctly it will not shut properly. Hope this makes sense and helps.

Hi Chris, it worked! thanks so much for this, it's been driving me up the wall! It took a couple of go's and even then I couldn't see what was different, although there was a more solid click and then it slide right in :) I really appreciate the help.

Hi Try to brew more water comes out and end up in the tray than cup. I am in Thailand and Kitchenaid here no help at all. Any advice? Thanks Geoffrey.

My kitchenaid Nespresso machine is about 2 1/2 years old, the cup is now only filling about half way, with the rest of the water running out into the drip tray. I saw another post with the same question, but no answers.

I don’t use mine anymore because of the fact that I feel like it makes every coffee pod taste burnt no matter what. But sound like you need to descale it. Do you descale your machine regularly?

Nicole C
Nicole C

Yes, I descale every 6 months or so.

Jonny bravo
Jonny bravo

The usual response from Nespresso is to clean the pyramid plate that may be partially blocked with granules and or scale build up. I disassembled mine to find a crack at the bottom of the brewing chamber. This seems to be more common than Nespresso/kitchenaid wants to admit. The part is the weak link in the machine. I have had no response from kitchenaid thus far. The part doesn’t seem to be available otherwise mine would be fixed by now. The material the part is made of can not withstand long turn repeated use but the design is good.

Our Kitchenaid Artisan coffee machine has started leaking water at the back of the pod area so we're getting half a cup of coffee in the cup and half a cup going straight into the drip tray. What can we do to fix this please ? Thanks.

My machine is leaking water so badly that I can’t use it any longer. I’ve descaled and cleaned the machine but it hasn’t improved. Delivered exactly 2 years ago. I’m very disappointed. Can the machine be repaired?

Check to see if the water valve at the bottom of your machine (sits under the water tank) is not blocked or is stuck in the open position. Sounds like a valve issue.

My water tank stuck and cracked as I was attempting to remove it. How do I retain another water tank?

Not A Domestic Goddess

Ronnie, I'd try the retailer from who you originally bought your machine. If you have no success with the retailer, contact Kitchen aid direct. I'm not surprised your tank broke, it is a ridiculously bad design, and requires brute strength to remove.

We descaled our machine a few days ago... water is still leaking from the bottom. any thoughts on what the problem is?

Not A Domestic Goddess
Not A Domestic Goddess

Hi Erin. Is the water leaking out of the drip tray onto the bench? If so, I'd suggest the tray itself has somehow sustained damage, like a split or crack. If it is leaking out of the machine itself I'd contact KitchenAid for assistance, depending on the amount of water coming out of your machine. My machine drips more water from the internals into the tray during normal operation than I'd expected (stained brown from coffee dripping), but it has never come near to overflowing. I suspect internal seals, perhaps not 'seated' properly, in the machine are to blame. Hope that helps.

Beautiful machine just arrived, we enjoyed a couple of cups and love the frother. We went to fill the water tank and it is stuck. No one answers over the weekend for such a large company is surprising to me? I see many people have had an issue with the water tank. We don't want to break it and cannot refill it- very frustrating, can you or anyone assist?

Hi SS, it’s a very tight fit- I thought I’d break mine but it does ‘free’ up over time. Not really the example of ergonomic design though...

Not A Domestic Goddess
Not A Domestic Goddess

Hi SS. Removing the water tank in this machine is a real issue; it's a very poor design and a premium product manufacturer like KitchenAid should do much better; as it is, it's unacceptable. Anyone with limited strength in their hands would probably find the tank impossible to remove. I find it is best to let the water level run low before removing as it will ALWAYS splash, then apply firm and steady pressure until the tank pops out of the machine; I am ever mindful of breaking the (plastic) tank while I do this. However, the tank is really easy to put back into the machine. Otherwise, it's a great machine; I use mine several times a day. It makes super good coffee.

Thank you- after much maneuvering- it came out - and I was told it will loosen over time.

We cannot brew. When we put in a capsule if falls straight into the container below. If we try to stop it from falling we cannot close the capsule lid. Are we buying the wrong pods? Kitchen aid do not give guidance as to what pods to use

Hello. I have a kitchen aide Nespresso machine. Black retro looking. I find it very difficult to detach water tank for cleaning filling. Also how often should it be descaled. Do u have a video showing how to do it. Cheers Mark Jans

Mielle

We also found this difficult to start with. once we googled how to and looked at hints on the Kitchenaid website it is now very easy. I was told at the Nespresso shop to descale about every 6 months but the machine will indicate when it is needed depending on usage.

do you have a link?

Had this machine for 14 months and today it has started leaking water. At first we thought the water tank must be cracked, but it is not. The leakage only occurs when the tank is fitted to the machine and then the tank empties rapidly, with water oozing out through the bottom of the machine. This is happening whether the machine is turned on or not and the water tank empties completely?

Ian & Lynda
Ian & Lynda

Found that the low pressure connector, which the bottom of the water tank sits on, had a hole in the tube that connects to the flow-meter. Not entirely sure of the reason, but surmise that it may have been damage caused by German cockroaches. Not a warranty situation if so.

My machine is leaking water down the back into the pod container. The temporary replacement machine I have received from Nespresso does the same thing. My machine has been descaled and cleaned with a toothbrush inside as suggested. Is this normal for this model?

Same here, my machine going back for second time for repairs (less than 1 year old). Pretty disappointed and a bit concerned, we just put in a $20k kitchen with wooden bench-tops- I'm concerned it's going to end up damaging our new bench-tops. To be honest its not what I expected from such a premium brand like kitchenaid. I'd find it hard to recommend based on ongoing leaking issues and the total disaster in terms of ergonomics to refill the water container! If I could return it now I think I would.

I've actually broken my water tank.

Any idea how I get a replacement?

And hints of how to get the broken tank out?

Also, it appears this is a fault with the machine if I'm not the only persons struggling to remove the water tank (which really should be easy) - perhaps needs a design fix?

Belle
Belle

Where did you buy your coffee machine from? Do you still have the receipt or any proof of purchase like a bank transaction or credit card? Even if none of those contact the company asap with photos so they can understand how it is broken. That is so bizarre! So far I’ve had no issues other then a pod getting stuck here and there! What a shame it’s such an expensive machine! If the company don’t supply you a replacement or anything contact the kitchenaid company personally to, and then tell them you will take them to consumer affairs if your not happy with an outcome to fix this problem! Someone should help.
