Hi I have a GR-5D951L LG Refrigerator and it is displaying a E FF fault code. I have replaced the freezer fan and levelled the doors but it is not going away. I am sure the freezer fan is not operating as the freezer section is not cold at the top. Is there anything that would prevent it from switching on? I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks Geoff

I love my LG GR-5D951L fridge too, it doesn't miss a beat, I have had it for almost 3 years, but last night a cup fell out of the cupboard and smashed the glass on the freezer door. I don't know what to do, can anyone tell me if I have to replace the entire door or can a glass panel replacement be purchased.

Thanx

Hi, ring the LG helpline for spare parts information. They will refer you to a number of companies that hold spare parts such as Statewide Appliances. I have done a search for you on the Statewide Appliancesr website I hope it copies ok. I could not locate the glass but you may be able to ; external link

Can anyone tell me why this fridge was discontinued?

idscratch

I can only speculate. The fridge is very deep and does not fit a standard fridge cavity. I bought mine heavily reduced and assume from this they were not selling well. The salesperson told me that many people loved it and wanted it but it did not fit their home.

I have purchased one but have not used it yet as we are building.

Message for LG rep.

Why was this fridge discontinued so quickly?

I am scared they have known faults that's why it was discontinued.

Thanks!

I have had this model for almost two years now, and absolutely LOVE it! No faults, no drawbacks found. I love it's size, but beware of your doorway measurements. We recently moved and it only just squeaked through the front door after having to take the front and screen doors off and also the fridge/freezer doors. Even with this though, I love the unit, and have not one regret :-)

Hello, I am considering a second-hand LG GR-5D951L as it appears to have been discontinued. I was just wondering if I could have feedback from people who have owned their fridge for some time, to find out if they are still happy with their fridge and if not, why? I would love to hear either way so I can get a good balance of the good, the bad and (possibly) the ugly. Many thanks in advance.

Hi, still loving our LG GR-5D951L. It's quiet. The depth is fantastic. The freezer just has so much room and the drawers make finding food in the freezer a breeze. We also love the high amount of freezer to fridge ratio. The easy access fridge door is still working smoothly. A quick wipe over and the finger mark build up is gone. Please check the dimensions carefully as this is a deep fridge. We had to remove the front door and it only just squeezed in.

Thanks so much for responding. It is always so good to hear from people who have actually owned an appliance for some time. I think I will go ahead and purchase!

Can I get replacement glass shelves?

Ross Clark
Ross Clark

You can get replacement shelves for LG fridges but not from LG themselves as they dont give a damm. Try WA Appliance centre in Morley Perth, or ring them for advice. They are expensive and hasrdly worth it. LG are a "CRAP" manufacturer and supplier as they generally dont stock parts longer than 6 months, thereafter you are on your own. We learnt the hard way and will never ever ever buy another LG product and we try to let everyone know about LG being a supplier who dont stock parts for their fridges.

I am sure that replacement shelves will be available. As with many manufacturers these days you will find that LG will pass you on to businesses in your state that stocks the spares. In SA there are a few companies that specialise in spare parts. I imagine it is the same interstate. Get in touch with LG and they will give you the contact info for where to get spare parts for their products in your state. Cheers

Hi

I was interested in purchasing this fridge and I was wondering how it has performed so far?

Thank you in advance

Hi, we have open plan living with a bedroom directly off the kitchen and this fridge hums gently without excess noise. So we are happy from that perspective. In fact happy with everything. We use the drinks door all the time. I find my fruit and vegetable last and last. I bought a wedge of watermelon on Christmas eve and we just finished it 12 days later and it was still so crisp and juicy. The lights make it so easy to see every thing and there is room galore. Love the freezer/fridge ratio which is higher than other fridges and the fact the freezer has so many drawers. Love this fridge.

Hello Adele, the fridge works well enough, it's simply the design that sometimes frustrates me. As I am quite small I find that I cannot reach items at the back of the top shelf. As I mentioned in my first review, I do tire of keeping the door clean and smudge free. That said however, I agree that fruit and vegetables do keep very well, and the size of the freezer is a bonus, in fact it is the main reason we purchased the fridge. We are also pleased with the ice maker - none of the problems that so inherent in the 'automatic' ones that abound on most refrigerators these days. So, to summarise - if you don't mind continually cleaning the glass doors and you are tall enough to reach everything in it, you will likely be pleased with it. You will need a large cavity for it - it really is huge and we had to remove a set of double doors just to get it in the house!

Does the door fit a 3L bottle of milk and does it fit 2 litre softdrink bottles? Also does anyone know if you could just get the fridge integrated into the kitchen doors (so it would be hidden?

Hello, the fridge fit all bottle sizes. There is even a shelf above the drinks access shelf that can be raised and lowered according to need.

As to the integration I do not believe so but you can get in touch with LG through their website.

We have had LG GR-5D951L for nine months. My wife and I are are extremely happy with it as we love to cook and entertain for our extended family and friends. The door in door (RHS) lower shelf can hold TWO 3 litre and ONE 2 litre milk containers with ease. The upper shelf on the door in door will comfortable hold three 1.2l litre soft drink plastic bottles. The LHS door, lower swivel container is good for cheese storage, the next shelf up can hold six 1.2l litre bottles and the next upper shelf 4 stubbies with one shelf to spare for condiments... jam jars, mayonnaise etc. Note the clear plastic storage containers in the LHS door are removable, they can be left in the shelf area of the fridge leaving more room in the door for bottles TWO side by side rows, i.e. two bottles deep. Better still take your favourite clean container in to the show room and try it out I did. Good Luck.

Hi I am ready to purchase another fridge. Will the LG GR-5D951L fit through a standard door?

minnie59
minnie59

No, we had to remove our double sliding doors to get it in the house.

idscratch

Hi, with the fridge doors removed and the front door removed you may just squeeze it in. We did with only a millimetre or two two spare if that.

It is a BIG fridge. Get the LG guys to deliver it - very worth the money as they are used to it.
