LG WD-1019BD Questions & Answers
VerifiedWhat age is a WD1019BD front load 10kg LG washing machine, do you know? I can't remember how long I've had mine for. It's an awesome machine, a real work horse!!
Ours is a 2006
Hi can this machine wash a Duvet and does it have a large or small door, i need to wash a large Duvet thats quite got slot on filling in it? Thankyou Karen A
Hello Karen, You should have no problems washing it safely. I regularly wash both my queen size doonas. One is 90% down filled and probably 15 years old. Comes up like new, nil damage, even when I spin dry it at 1000rpm.
The other is heavier and has an artificial filling, much denser/heavier. I wet that one before putting it in machine which helps water penetrate to the middle early in the cycle assisting with an even clean and good tumbling. Also spin dry that at 1000rpm.
Hope this helps.
Hi can you fit a Duvet in this machine and is the door large or small? Thankyou
Can anyone assist - I cannot select a spin speed above 800 RPM - Selector button does not respond. Also cannot select the time save option - button does not respond.
Why cant I change the spin speed above 800 RPM and cant select time save option. Any help appreciated
I currently have the LG WD-10198D - 10Kg front loader after 15 years it's started to leak due to the internal drum running eccentric & cutting the outer seal, according to the service guy, the cost to repair isn't worth it, my question is, what model do LG recommend in place of the great machine ??
I had the same problem. LG WD-10198D lasted 16 years and I loved it. I replaced it with LG WD1411SBW which is an 11kg front loader and love it. Not disappointed.
my LG WD1019BD is the best washing machine we have ever had it works day in and day out fully loaded. ( I caught my wife one day squeezing the doona in with her foot) lol and still keeps going . We have had this machine since 2002 and broke a spider in 2017 , I stripped this machine down and replaced 75% of the parts and only cost around $350 > $450 but there was a lot of labour hours involved it was a good experience and the machine has run the best since brand new, but alas we have a now got a pcb problem and you cannot get one as they are no longer available does anyone know an alternative or a good electronics engineer who can repair control board in or around Brisbane PLEASE?
how much were these brand new? What year was this model made?WD-1019BD if anyone knows. serial number 312KW00213 thanks just i bought 2nd hand one and was interested how old. thanks.
I bout mine about 2004. It was close to 2k.
Gday mate, if i recall the wsy the old serial numbers went was year and month first then location then run number.. Looking at your number I interpret it as 2003/December Kw is Korea 00213 built in that month.
My machine was a 2003 it cost us $2100 back then.
Great machine the only thing you cant replace is the mother board simply impossible to find.
Most other parts are no problem.
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM "BIG WAREHOUSE SPARES!! The are crooks and will rip you off..
The trick to keeping these old girls healthy is a empty hot cycle once a fortnight with perhaps white vinegar and if its safe to do so always leave the door open to let it dry out after each wash
All the old powder can collect and corrode your spider on your drum it's only cast aluminum.
Great machines.
Goodluck mate.
From memory my machine, purchased in about April 2003, was also in the $2100 2300 range. Great machine, still running perfect, nil breakdowns. Like new on outside complete with the 4A of 5 water rating sticker.
hi can yoh wash a Duvet in it and us the door large or small? Thankyou Karen
Hi guys,
I have this machine and lately the spin makes a big roar like a old “dry” car bearing....
Then it has also started to tripping the switch after a load....
Would that be the board or perhaps It could be overheating due to the additional force to spin with a old or damaged bearing?
Thanks
AE from Melbourne
Hi,Andre The bearing is easy enough to replace if your handy, its a big job though you have to strip the body of machine and get to it, and from memory they may be a seal or two that may ned replacing along the way,Not expensive but time consuming.
WARNING..DO NOT USE ...Big Warehouse Spares..This business is terrible and you will probably get ripped of like everyone else .

You can buy your bearings from any industrial bearing supplier like SKM once you take them out or simply call a reputable LG repairer ( I think i found one in South Australia )to find the bearing size and what seals you may need..
Now on to the mother board , in a nutshell you cant get one its the only part thats impossible to get,I tried and tried and eventually ended up buying a whole spare machine for $600.
These machines are worth repairing, we still have ours after all these years they literally do not make them like they used to and we love ours, we I do any way I always keep the old girl going the best i can..A tip is with any front loader is to leave the door open when not in use so the inside od the machine has a chance to dry out and always give them a empty super hot wash once a month with white Vinegar...good luck mate.
Hello Andre, Sorry for my slow reply but I have been away for several months. I agree with all of W.A. shoppers advice and would like to add a little more regarding the logic control board. I am an electronics engineer so my help may be of assistance to yourself, if you are still fixing your wonderful machine, and any others who may read this.
It is simple advice applicable to most appliances.
Caution-: If it is tripping your RCD's it will be an earth leakage problem and full repair will need to be done by a qualified professional.
If is simply tripping the power fuse, read on.
The fact you can still run wash programs indicates the circuit board is intact and there is no earth leakage problem. Therefore it is most likely the overload you indicate is caused by a restrictive bearing/bearings tripping a power fuse. During the spin cycle is when the motor draws maximum current. If the motor has not been damaged by excessive load/heat due to the bearing, replacing the bearing should restore your machine.
A worse scenario would be if the bearing problem under heavy spin load has overheated the coils inside the motor either causing them to buckle out of shape and/or burn off some insulation and short circuit between coil windings or coils to coil tripping the power fuse each time the motor overheats. This will require replacement of the motor
I have had my Lg 10kg front loader LGWD1019BD for 13 years and it has been the best machine that i have ever owned, but unfortunately it started making a banging noise and have been advised that the arm for the drum needs replacing and is quite pricey to repair. Can you please advise if it is worth me paying for this to be repaired or should i purchase a new model. Dont really want a new model as this is an awesome machine.
Kindest regards, Jane
Hi Jane. I have no idea what the arm costs, but I guess labour to replace it could be high. I did a google for spare parts and found a place in Adelaide, was close to me. If you know someone handy its very simple to pull apart. Google a parts view or exploded view of the machine, gives great insight on how it comes apart. In am an ex motor vehicle mechanic and farm bloke so I have a go at most things, so no expert on washing machines. Cheers from an amazing and unusually green center of Oz.
G'day Jane. Firstly do not under any circumstances use "Big Whare House Spares" for any parts purchases..ever ..period.. They are a lying dishonest organisation who left me hundreds of dollars out of pocket and whom give themselves frequent false reviews on this site.
You will see my negative comments there.
I stripped my machine and rebuilt it and can say there are no "Arms" on them, they have what is called a "spider" which bolts directly to the drum and the drive motor drives directly on that shaft hence direct drive.
Honestly they are a great machine and I could recommend a reputable LG dealer in South Australia, but it is a time consuming job to strip the machine, find the fault buy the parts and rebuild it.
If your not mechanically minded I would recommend considering purchasing a new machine, but beware there is a lot of overpriced Chinese rubbish out there now and the old girl will won't be matched for capacity or value in my opinion.
If you had to buy new I would invest in a Bosch product with extra warranty covering labor..
All the best Jane and remember Big Wharehouse Spares a outright criminals.
What is an LE error and would it be expensive to fix?
over load in motor.
you getting the error on a empty drum?
My Lg1019Bd washing machine drum will not turn. I had a professional look at it but was told he could not get the part because the machine was old (10 years). Can someone tell me what part I need to look for please?
What part?
Its direct drive and most parts can still be sourced.
how can i remove the bearings to replace
The machine has to basically be totally dismantled. Once you have got to the wash drum and outer drum (outerdrum comes apart too) its a matter of knocking out the shaft, tgen using a drift knock the two bearings out of the outer drum. Replace bearings, shaft, seals, including outer drum seal. I did have a couple of pics showing the whole machine in pieces. I also used an exploded view of the machine to help, got from google image search.
I got a noise like a dry bearing noise but even when it stop turning and when spaying water
Hi there, We'd love to help you with this. Can you call us on 1300 LG CARE (1300 54 2273). Many thanks, LG Australia
can this machine was a Duvet? A large one, with lots of filling? Does it gave a large door or small door? Thankyou Karen
