does fine dust get through the filters of your Makita DCL 180 Z vac, mine chucks out fine dust which is not ideal when using in a confined space which i would think it is designed for, very dissapointing from such a trusted brand, I am surprised it actually may meets any clean air standards at all for any vucuum!!!!!

Makita Vac In My Personal Opinion Does Not Perform Well Overall. We Used It On Carpet & After One Go It Was Messy To Clean & It Didn’t Perform Well After A Few Minutes, Hardly Any Suction. Terrible Appliance That Makita Have Made & Not Worth The Time Or Money, We Returned It Same Day….

I have a Makita DCL180Z stick vac, it works ok except fine dust comes out of the exhaust , even with the new filters as fitted , I would have thought this is not quite correct as when used in confined spaces it would be a health hazard! Is this normal for this vac to happen.

That shouldn’t be happening & it’s not normal for any vac in my knowledge to do this and it would be a health hazard. We knew Evan after one use that the Makita Stick Vac would be not a well made piece & things might go wrong with it down the track. I would try and blow out any dust in the chamber and if it still doesn’t work get your money back and get a better vac.

Thanks Roachy, It does not matter what i do, it has chucked out dust from new with all filters in place. it certainly does not have an Hepa filter, which i would have expected in any vacuum sold these days. I think i will return as as you say it is for sure a health hazard & and should be advertised as not suitable for fine dust.

Does this make a good household vacuum? I have carpet and vinyl planking.

Absolutely terrible for carpet, we bought one and returned same day. It’s so useless at sucking up on carpet, it gets filthy as well & cleaning parts is a terrible job. I wouldn’t Evan use it as Work shop vac. We were very disappointed in it as we thought being a Makita it would be really good. Put your money towards a proper stick vac that’s good on carpet & hard floors. Look at reviews & make sure there are way more good reviews than bad…..Just don’t trust the reviews on this Vac as we already tested it and it’s a waste of time and money…trust me & get another stick as you will be truly disappointed like we were…Hard floors we never tested as we really wanted it for carpet & it failed. It got clogged up and after 5 minutes it didn’t suck up much. Filter chamber is far too small and certainly isn’t good for a long run time.

Will my Makita Cordless Drill battery fit this? Battery is an 18v lithium 1.5Ah. Are the mounting slots etc the same?

Hi Woz. Yes, your 18v lithium battery will slot straight in :)
