Map Bravista Latte Questions & Answers
VerifiedI accidentally interrupted the descaling process. The espresso button is continuously lit while at the same time the descaling amber light is blinking. I couldn't stop/start the green button. It needs to be shutdown on the power point. I don't know what's wrong with my Saeco Bravista Latte plus machine. Pls help! TIA
Can the temperature be adjusted. Thinking this may be the reason that the coffee (have tried different brands and types) always tastes bitter. How can I fix this?
No I don’t believe so, which is unfortunate
My coffee machine all lights keep blinking non stop after I on it. May I know how to solve it?
I have attempted to descale my Bravista Latte + by following the instructions but the descale will not progess beyond simultaneous pressure on the green and café latte buttons. Any thoughts?
We had a lot of issues with our bravista, we had 3 replaced and I finally got a refund and purchased a different type - Caffitaly s22
Our machine has stopped punching the pods. Please help?
The piston in the brew unit is probably seized. PITA to get to and not an easy job, but once out pry it open and lubricate the o ring with with a suitable hi temp food based grease.
My machine just went *pop* with the last MAP capsule I used and now the red warning lamp is flashing on and off and the espresso button is lit. When I press the espresso button nothing happens either with or without a capsule. I can't turn the machine off using the machine on/off button it needs to be turned off at the mains. Anyone had similar issues? I fear it may be fatal!
Check the manual - the troubleshooting section describes this as needing to complete the descale and rinse function on the machine. Not sure how/why it entered it, but figure you should try this first. If it doesn't fix it then it sounds like it might be something you need to contact the retailer or Saeco directly about.
Done all that thanks Shaun. Just wondered if anyone else had encountered this issue. Cheers.
I've just received my machine. Made a coffee for a friend and a hot chocolate for me. Used a map pod for the coffee (came with the machine) and a Gloria Jeans pod for the chocolate. Both were sooo weak and watery, they had barely any taste. I put a second chocolate pod in the same cup and it was still blah. Very disappointed. Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong?
i only just got my machine back today after being repaired , havnt tried it yet but I never had that problem, the coffee seemed to taste ok when it worked however I've had better tasting coffees from other machines, if you have read the manual and making it as it says, maybe there is a problem with it. I would urge nobody to buy this machine
When you buy a coffee in a medium size cup you are getting around 55 ml's of coffee and the rest is heated milk. Just make sure you are not too much water through the pod.
I'm having the same problem. The chocolate is so weak as it's not all coming out the pod?? Hubby says the coffee is great though.
Can you just make black coffee with it?
Yes you do not have to use the milk function.
I have just bought the Saeco Bravista Latte + ..... and made 3 coffees/lattes having tried two different types of MAP pods and all three coffees have been burnt and unable to be drunk. So dissapointed as I have wanted a quick machine for a long time (with my husband resisting) due to wanting a manual machine for a better coffee.Have I got a dud machine, due to all the positive comments I read prior to purchasing? Think I need to return it...has anyone had the same experience? Is there a temperature adjustment that may need to be tweeked?
Hi Kate There are a few different types of pods available maybe try some different ones. You can adjust the amount of water to milk ratio. A latte you want about 35ml's of coffee and the rest milk. This is how I set my commercial machines.Hope this helps:)
G'day Kate Received my Bravista Latte + from Kogan today (a replacement for my faithful old MAP Bella S04 machine) and experienced the same problem - water temperature is too hot and burns the coffee! Now I know why Choice Magazine rates the taste scores of machines that use the same pods differently. Would be nice if MAP tech reps monitored this site and provided answers!
If water temp is an issue, flush it beforehand - that is, run a shot without the pod, then quickly insert pod and cup and run again. This will give water less time to overheat. You have to remember that proper temp control in machine that costs 1 tenth of a real espresso machine is not going to be perfect.
Can I ask where you purchased your machine? I have had a map pod machine for about 4 yeats now and love it but it is now leaking water everywhere so wanted to upgrade to one of these. I have searched Harvey Norman and Good Guys websites but they only sell Nespresso. Thanks
Hi Kat, I have seen these machines for sale on the Kogan and on the MAP and Caffitaly website. Good luck with the search.
Cheers,
Ben
Sorry Kat. I got mine from Harvey Norman I didn't see it online but saw it when I was in the store.
Thanks. Will go into store and see if they have them.
They still have them at Kogans - bought one yesterday. $179 plus postage.
Costco in Lidcome had a different model Map Bravista Espresso+ today at $54.99 incl coffee frother. Also had boxes of 8x10 Strong MAP capsules for $24.99. Both offers are marked to end Jan 29.
Where do you buy the pods for this machine and are they economical ?
Hi Annie, I get my pods from Woolworths and Coles in South Australia. They're rally good value, You can get 10 pods for between 4-6 dollars and they also have a lot of different varieties as well. You can get a good hot chocolate pod.
Great that is a great help !!!
Coles has them for $3 for 10 on sale this week.
Kogan have packs of 80 on sale at $19 now with free shipping.
Also, Catch of the Day regularly have packs of 80 for $15-25 (excl delivery)
