Can I use Vanish oxiaction with a septic tank system?

Hi, I'm looking to remove set-in sweat smell from black cotton T-shirts. I have read that pre-soaking in Napisan and warm water is effective. My question is: how long can I soak for without damaging the colours of the black cotton shirts? Is overnight or 24 hours ok? Or should I just soak for 2 hours?

The instructions say to use 30g per 7 litres for soaking. I can see 3 graduated markings on the inside of the cap - but which one is 30g?

Hi Karen, a tablespoon of product is roughly 15g, so if you add 2 tablespoons to the cap and see what line is closest that's probably the 30g line! I hope Rekitt Benckiser are reading this so they can consider clearer markings on the packaging ;)) I hope this helps! Kind regards, Maree

Hi there, I just read the pack I have at home; it says for septic and biosystems to check with the manufacturer of the system before use to ensure the product is suitable. Hope this helps! Kind regards, Maree

I have been using Napisan for many years always with success but lately it seems to be leaving brown bits that look like cardboard or dead leaves all through my white sheets. This shakes out OK when sheets have dried. I have tried changing to different products which are fine but when I return to Napisan the problem returns. What is going on?

The brown bits are bio-film that forms in your machine... you'll find that when you soak in an oxygen and/or enzyme based solution, this loosens the bio-film and the bits come through in your wash. The film forms between the centre basin with the holes, and the outer drum skin that holds the water. This is because it's a moist environment. You can reduce this film by leaving your washer open between uses, so it can dry out. The film is not considered harmful, it's kinda like an algae type thing... not mould.

When it gets on your laundry like that, brush it off after it's dry, otherwise it smudges everywhere.

Is Napisan still anti-bacterial (it's not stated on the containers in my local supermart) ???

Yes, oxygen bleaches are anti-bacterial by nature. They break the cell wall of bacteria I believe, but I'm not up on the specifics.

Is napisan liquid stain remover suitable with septic tanks?

I don't think it is as it contains peroxide and is anti bacterial

I love the product and wish I could keep using it but I've been told no
