No Vac Carpet Sanitiser and Deodoriser Questions & Answers
VerifiedMy container of No vac has been sitting on a cupboard shelf and the bottom of can is corroded and has "burned" a hole in the shelf. Is this usual, and how can I stop it happening in future,
Unfortunately I used this product last week and still the smell is overbearing. Luckily, I only used it in one bedroom. I no longer can use this room as after a couple of hours of sleep, my throat & head were feeling the impact of the chemicals. I washed the carpets yesterday with a vinegar solution but no difference. I have now taken everything out of the room and opened windows wide. I have thrown the 2 cans I bought in the bin. Hope that in a couple of weeks the smell may have abated. Any other suggestions? This is a terrible situation to be in & am very disappointed that the company does not respond to these kinds of concerns.
Does no vac get rid of fleas
Hi Maryanne, thank you for asking the question. The short answer is no. no vac is not designed to treat fleas and does not contain any pesticides.
Does no vac wreck the carpert lining stuff in ur car
Don;t think so. I use it inside the house and both of my cars without any problems or damage.
Hi I had transmission oil spill in my car i have had it professionally cleaned and thought I’d spray the no vac garden spray does the no vac get orders out permanently or is it just Temporary
Hi there Purchased no vac and sprayed on carpet. The smell is quite strong and I did this a week ago. I read after reviews where people have said it’s toxic and really bad. I have gotten the carpet professionally steamed clean after but still has left a strong odour from the can. My concern is that I will be moving in with my one year old son and worried this will be toxic for him. Now I’m scared. The smell isn’t super strong but definitely there. Just scared. Any suggestions what else I could do. Thank you in advance.
Hello. Hmm our carpet now doesn’t smell awful anymore. It’s taken about 3 weeks... If its not a big area, I would do what I did: I covered my entire sprayed area with baking soda, popped plastic sheets over this and then put a rug on top. The plastic kept the smell stuck underneat and the rug kept the plastic in place. I kept it this way for about 2 weeks, vacuumed up bicarb weekly and put new bicarb on top, then back under plastic again. I aired only whenever great weather/ doors windows open etc, and now, we’re finally over this! Thank goodness! This was a HORRIBLE experience!!
Good luck!!
Thank you for your advice, unfortunately it’s a large area and I have made sure to vacuum daily and keep windows and Doors open and had it professionally steamed. Do you think it will be harmful for my bub? The smell is not as strong anymore but just there and I think it’s my brain thinking it will hurt him. Someone said the product had lead toxins. Now I’m scared. I’m sure it doesn’t... well I hope not. Worst thing I have ever done and I never do silly things like this. I think the comment about lead has got me thinking way too much now.
Worst mistake ever.
This made me sick. It has no ingredient list on the spray can for garden breeze deodorizer. Many of the chemicals legally have to be declared which are not. Many are dangerous and your safety sheet provided on website lies about the chemicals safety or hasn't tested it. Your product has given me a headache, dizziness, nausea, stomach pain, and disorientation. This was used in a separate ventilated room with fans and open windows and I got this sick from other rooms. This is ridiculous and dangerous. If I get the time I will be taking this to higher authorities. This has to be illegal. It breaches the fair trading act for New Zealand too.
I agree with you! I ended up covering the carpet part that I used it on, with massive plastic sheets, followed by towels and a big blanket: just to contain the smell underneath and not out in the air as it’s in our livingroom. This product made me feel so dizzy, sick, I have had massive head aches, been feeling terribly nauseous and frankly triggered my (very rarely occurring) anxiety! This product needs to be taken off the shelves. I will report this to Coles this week.
Thank you for the response! Good to hear I am not alone with this issue. I will be reporting it to advertising standards authority once I get some spare time for the sake of others health this needs to be off shelves. I have been coughing up blood today, really irritated lungs, I have never coughed up blood before! I still have nausea and dizziness too. Most cleaning products I have dealt with have never been this harsh. Good luck!
Hi Jesse, I have made the mistake of using this product today! How did you get the smell out of your carpet? I'm wondering if I should steam clean it.
Hey there, sorry to hear you had that experience. I forgot I even made this comment haha. I used fans and opened the windows to reduce the scent as much as possible but it really did irritate the lungs for a long while after and wasn't safe for pets. The smell lingered for weeks after even when ventilating, I slept in a different room to it as I couldnt cope. All the company offered was a refund, and unfortunately despite it saying pet friendly and safe to use they get away with it because new Zealand and Australias laws are so vague. I hope you get the smell out, steam cleaning could do the trick. Take care. I'll be deleting my comments once you read it, cheers.
Seriously, what is in this product? I sprayed it yesterday in my house and I have been severely sick since, the pains I am experiencing in my upper abdomen is excruciating. What have u developed, this is toxic and poison.
yes you are correct this stuff is poison and absolutely stinks. I sprayed it on my mattress to clean a stain and I had to replace the entire mattress because it smelt so strong and the smell was overbearing I can still smell it in my mind
I’ve actually had to call the poison helpline tonight because I’ve been in that much pain since spraying it, honestly, I can’t understand this product, it is just lethal poison.
This stuff has made me incredibly sick. It is not safe for pets let alone humans. Look at their health data sheet on the website, even with their deceptive descriptions of the dangerous chemicals in their products they still admit that many of them are toxic irritants to eyes, lungs, skin. One of the chemicals is toxic to aquatic life, that is not pet safe.
Does this help with pet dander and allergies?
Hi Sarah, no vac is great at combating the odour causing bacteria trapped in fibres of your pets' favourite places - but no, will not tackle pet dander.
Pet dander is a better smell.
Where can I buy the soothing camomile no vac in Geelong please?
Dose Novak come out as a spray, or a foam?
Foam
where can i buy it around bankstown?
I suggest you try Coles in Greenacre.
What can I use on my Nylon carpet to get rid of the smell of no vac?
The only thing I could do was leave the rug outside for a few days to get rid of the smell. Even then it still didn't get rid of it totally.
You could try sprinkling it with baking soda if you can't take it outside?
Thanks but it's my main carpet (new) so can't take it outside. Wouldn't mind if the no vac producers were to respond and deal with this up front. For all of the positive comments about no vac there are quite a few too many very strongly worded worrying ones. I would expect no vac to have responded with a sensible solution.
Hi Betz, did you ever figure out how to get the smell out?
I would debate that those positive comments are completely fake. The style of writing differs completely to other consumers comments. Most likely faked to balance out the rating as many retailers do these days, and this company appears shady enough with having various toxic chemicals in their products without declaring.
Will it take red cordial from a white carpet?
Unlikely, it isn't a carpet shampoo.
Where do u get the foam fabric deodorised for cars from?
I am not sure if you are asking about another product or the one I reviewed. For the one I reviewed, I do use it on carpet in the car and I get it from Coles, but I've seen it at Woolworths, Masters and Bunnings stores.
I have been using NoVac for some time but now I can't find it in my local IGA and have also looked in Coles and Woollies but they don't seem to carry it anymore. Could you please advise where I can purchase it? My postcode is 5522. Thankyou
Hi Harney,
The Woolworths I shop from (in Carindale 4152), still stocks No Vac in "Purifying Breeze","Garden Breeze", "Fresh Pet"; and the Car Care version in "Frangipani". Not sure if that is of any help as 5522 doesn't sound near Carindale..
Is this product safe to use while pregnant?
I don't know but I was hesitant to use any form of chemicals around me when I was pregnant.
no!!! i am pregnant and it has triggered the worst nausea to the point i have been in hospital 4 times. magically when i am not in my house the vomiting stops. very strong concerns it could be doing my baby harm.
No. It contains this 5-Chloro-2-(4-chlorphenoxy)phenol. Absolutely no way, I'm a chemist I work in a lab I would use this in a fumecupboard.
love the product but cant find the site for the completion regards Carolyn
just go to external link vac.co.nz and it will tell you where youcan buy it
Can using too much of this damage your carpet underlay, causing it to become mouldy?
How thickly should it be applied? Spraying from 1m high it just went everywhere!
My young child also started coughing when he was in the room after spraying? Can it cause health problems?
If you've got pets the carpet underlay is going to be mouldy - and worse - anyway.
the strong chemicals have triggered extreme vomitting. i am pregnant and would not recomend using it around children or anyone with reapiratory issues.
