Philips SHD8600/79 Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPNs: PHI-SHD8600 and SHD8600Hi there. We have the SHD8900/79 model. The green light on the base station is constant, which we assume means the headphones are fully charged. When the headphones are turned on, the blue wireless light on the headphones flashes. However, the blue light on the base station does not come on. We have seen this light flash blue, but it does not remain on. We are in NZ.
the light on my docking station wont change to green on my wirelell headphones
How I connect the headphone with my phone bluetooth
Headphones won't work if I want to watch Netflix or foxtel etc. Only tv. Any suggestions ?
hi lynette. If you are watching netflix or Foxtel via a set top box or other exterior device you need to plug the headphone into that device or introduce a splitter onto the headphone line so you can plug into both and watch via either medium.
Can I run 2 sets of The headphones from a single base station?
Hi there Dave, Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately this is technically not possible. In order to achieve reliable wireless connection and optimal sound quality, the connection between the base station and the headphone is a unique single digitally controlled link. This link is applicable to the headphone coming with the base station exclusively.

It’s suite easy. Run your finger nail along the gap between the outer casing and the main body, be careful and don’t use force slowly ease the rear off to expose two Phillips AAA rechargeable batterys Now Phillip batterys are expensive. But you can use normal rechargeable providing you wrap the bottom half in Alfoil
Can I buy the only headphones as I have the hub only headphones? broken
Why would you bother when you can buy similar from Kogan for just over $100 external link
Hi I have a dual set of Phillips headphones. The green battery light on dock is on however the red power light is flashing on and off and at times turns off completely.I have original Phillips batteries. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
Rechargeable battery's don't last forever, i think the red light means the battery's need changing Phillip batterys are expensive ,but you can use other rechargeable as long as you earth the side of the battery as that where the earth contact is a simple way is to wrap some alfoil along the bottom and party up the side Hope this helps and you under stand ian
Thanks so much Ian! I don’t really understand the earth contact etc so I think I may just need to replace with Phillips batteries. When you say expensive would you know approximately? Thanks for your help I appreciate it
Hi there, thanks for your question. It indeed sounds like the rechargeable batteries need to be replaced. They need to be replaced with AAA rechargeable NiMH batteries, and we recommend using the Philips SBC HB700 batteries that came with the device. Hope this helps.

Thank you ! Are there other compatible batteries that can be used in place of Philips ones? Thank you
Hi. Where in New Zealand can I buy batteries for SHD8600/79 headset or any alternative option? Thanks
If the SHD8600/79 is like the SCH8800 the earth is not on the base but on the side. An easy fix is to wrap the bottom of the AAA rechargeable battery in alfoil around the bottom and 2 cm up the side it will then make contact with. Phillips earth Point. No need to buy an over priced. Philip batterys
Hi Andrea When one of my batteries in my headphones died, I used a pair of 'standard' AA cells, but of course theses were not rechargeable batteries and I left the headphones off the charging base. Charging 'standard' non re-chargeable batteries can be dangerous - be careful!!
My daughter picked up a packet of Nickle Metal Hydride (NMH) re-chargeable batteries and they operated the headphones OK, but would not charge. Eventually I worked out that the little side contacts near the battery retaining spring (in the battery compartment) had to be connected together. Instead of going down the path Ian (1st reply) used, I removed a small amount of the plastic sleeve on battery at the negative end. With part of the plastic removed, the metal casing of the battery made contact with both the spring retainer (negative connection) and side charging connection.
It appears that Philips went down this path so that 'standard' batteries could be used to operate the headphones "in a pinch", without the batteries being connected to the charging circuit. Remember charging 'standard' batteries is NOT recommended and can be dangerous.
Conclusion: Just buy a pair of AA Nickle Metal Hydride (NMH) re-chargeable batteries from your supermarket or hardware store and modify them as above. Works for me and probably cost a lot less that it would from Philips.

How do I open the 8600 headphones to check batteries? Please
Here you go watch the video external link
Can I use rechargeables from other companies?
Yes. But you have to wrap the bottom of the battery in aluminium foil so the contact is on the side not the bottom as that’s where philips contact point is.

I just bought SHD8600 headphones but the docking station has a flashing white light then goes solid white then nothing (black), there doesn't appear to be a LED on the headphones per the instruction sheet. Despite trying everything there is no sound. I have audio sound and have got the docking station switched correctly. I assume that there is a fault with the docking station and it isn't charging? Any help would be appreciated
Make sure that the headphones are connecting to the two pins in the base . My SCH8800 have a green flashing light in the base when charging ,also you must use Philips battery's as the earth is on the side not on the bottom,

Hi There/ I Purchased the SHD8850 headphones last month and as I am not tech savy / is there anyway that some-one else who is watching the TV can hear the TV whilst someone is using these headphones / probably a dumb question. Thank you
Hi Nan i wish! I have not found a way to do this either. But I too am not very tech savvy. Try asking at your local video shop. Phillips used to make a dual headphone set on one base but no longer and the only people who do this now charge hundreds of dollars for the privilege.
regards
Linda
Hi Linda/ Thank you for your reply/ I should have researched better
Nan, I have found that wireless headphones can be connected to your TV via a normally unused Jack that is covered with a small (5/16" or .8cm) square cap and pull tab for removal. On some TVs this is labelled 'Digital/Audio', others I have seen it called TX or similar from memory. To connect your headphones to this Jack you need to purchase a signal changer that converts the signal from digital to analogue (this as best as I remember from what I learned while researching for solutions over the years). These units are about the size and smaller than a pack of 20s. I found them online for around $25. There would be cheaper ones, but I don't trust the very cheapest when it comes to electronics in the home.
They plug into 240v via a USB travel/wall adapter.
The TV still operates as normal, turn the volume to any position without affecting the headphones. Bob
