I just bought the black Smeg kettle and toaster. I just read the reviews they are all bad reviews. Is the products been updated ? Should I return the products, what’s your advice?

Hi i purchased a Smeg Retro style kettle KLF01 as shown in Black from Myer in December of last year. I have noticed the last few months where i need to keep toggle down for it to boil the water & only recently where it doesn’t boil to full capacity. Can you please advise as to what steps i need to take to replace this kettle as i rely on it everyday. Thankyou

Hello everyone, and a big hi to Steve Cullen who has been very busy!

I am considering buying this kettle but am a little alarmed by the negative reviews. I see one post that it won't reboil without cooling down. Have many people had this problem? And is it easy to pour with that sleek but narrow handle?

Also, it is listed as discontinued, so how does that affect replacement/repairs down the track?

Hi, I have a black Smeg kettle and the on/off switch has came off. The kettle still works fine only when the switch is placed back in the hole.

Is this a common fault?

What's the difference between kettle models KLF01 and KLF03?

Which is newer and recommended?

I’m unsure what the difference is between the two, maybe one is an earlier model than the other perhaps. I would advise however to look at other quality brands as this kettle is cheap looking, with verging on dangerous design faults and definitely does not go the distance for the price tag. Read other reviews which echo the problem with this kettle.

Hi, I bought the black SMEG kettle a year ago at Harvey Norman. So far I have loved the kettle but now the lid seems stuck. Totally frustrating! Can this be fixed? Seems like poor quality for an expensive kettle.

I would return it Harvey Norman.You might have dud, or spray a touch of wd40 into the top button if its not under warranty. Sorry i cant be more helpful.

Return it. It will only get worse. It seems to be a fault that is common to these kettles as can be seen in the reviews here. If you have any problem returning it contact Smeg.

Hi there my Lid has Stuck on my Black Smeg Kettle, My son bought this for me as a gift and I dont have the heart to tell him that the lid has stuck and broken. I was relieved when I saw that is its a common fault of the product. I was so delighted that I have this beautiful kettle and was planning on getting the matching toaster but disappointed now that this has happened as it is just so inconvient now fill it up for such a beautiful expensive kettle. please help me regards Jacky - Tauranga

Hi , I fill mine up from the spout, as my lid has broken off at the arms inside, if it still under warranty I would take it back.

Jacquelina, If you haven't received a solution I suggest you call Smeg on 02 8667 4888. I have had wonderful customer service from them regarding the lid issue. I am on my second replacement and all they asked was images of the kettles label with serial number underneath and a new one arrived within a week.
