Swissvoice C50 Seniors Mobile (2018) Questions & Answers
What battery does the phone take and where do you buy same? Many thanks.
Hi everyone, Can you tell me if this phone has FaceTime please My mum is in a nursing home with Covid lockdown We can talk on phone but can’t see her Also on her phone now we can’t send her photos.
Hi Deidre, I don't know about facetime, I don't use it. The problem I had with Swissvoice C50 was the phone only came with Android version 7, and Android are up to Version 12, so the phone was not up to date, and did not work with many apps, and Swissvoice would not tell me how to update the phone. I have since cut my losses, and bought another brand of phone with Android 11, for a third of the Swissvoice price. It does everything I need, but then I am Eighty years old . I suggest if you have not purchased Swissvoice then don't. Look around, good luck .
Thank you my mum is 82 , just trying to find something simple
Is the Swiss phone only available via Southern Phones
I am not sure about that ? I think you can probably purchase one from Atlinks Asia, in Hong Kong, or Atlinks Europe ? I do not use the Swissvoice phone at all now, I have purchased a different brand of phone for half the price, and all of my problems are resolved. If you are thinking about purchasing the Swissvoice, please don't is my advice !!
Merv.
What phone are you now using, I’m looking for my 96 yr old mother and need something simple
Hi, I have seen some reviews that say you cannot download additional andriod apps such as the service NSW covid checkin app? I am not sure if that is true / or it can .. by a more compicated process? if no covid checkin app , at the moment that would be a show stopper. In all other respects this would be a great phone for my mum who is having difficulty with standard mobile phones.
I had no problems here in south Australia mine works fine which qr codes just persistence I found
Thanks Mal, I did just think. Assuming this phone comes with a built in web browser app and that is able to read qr codes then that would be sufficient. You can check into the service nsw covid system via the web .. dont actually need the app, though might need to login each time.
Hi nigel j. I could not download any apps, because the Swissvoice phone they supplied was faulty. They replaced the phone and the new one is ok . The new phone still does not do Android updates, and some apps will not download because they need later Android versions. Still very dissatisfied with the Swissvoice C50 S. Merv. W .
Thanks, MFW
Hi, just double checking - you can download a check in app & it successfully scans the QR code? Does it have any web browser installed or available?
Hi I have the swissvoice c50 phone but bracelet doesn’t seem to work & not sure how to fix it. Also want to know if you can get the speaker phone to come on automatically with a call, my mum has a very short term memory & forgets to push the speaker button! My mum is pretty deaf.
Is there anyone in Brisbane that can set up Whats App for me on the C50 swissvoice?
I have not been able to find any suppliers other than Southern Phone on line. Does anyone know of alternative suppliers for the Swissvoice C50s?
Reviewed the Choice site re this phone. Whilst the product rated well, Southern Phone did not. What are your experiences please.
I have had no problem with southern phone customer service was great sales staff were great and helpful billing is right on track as explained by them if you have the most supidest question to ask them don’t be afraid to ask
Does the Swissvoice C50 have bluetooth? What is the difference between the C50 and the C50S? The one Southern Phone is selling says it's a C50. I'm worried it doesn't have bluetooth which is a must for my 88 year old mother in the car.
Hi Lea, In response to your question, the Swissvoice does have a bluetooth capability. Not sure about the difference between the C50 & C50s. We bought the latter. Southern Phones are however not the only company where the phones can be purchased as you will see on line. My brother (for whom I purchased the phone as he was having difficulty with his Apple phone) is finding it easy to use. It has a lot of excellent features. The three most frequent contact facility at the top front of the phone enables him to contact us with ease by a single press of the button. Pictures can be set against each person in the phone book if desired. My brother no longer accidentally pocket dials as the duration for which the call buttons must be pressed are set (by me) for a couple of seconds each. Messages are read aloud to him and the range of voice commands available is great. It has Wifi if you have internet access Installed apps include amongst others, Facebook, Google, What's App, SOS etc The home unit is excellent enabling users to talk without holding the phone when it is located therein. Volume controls of ringtone, voice, messages etc are adaptable to need; and the emergency call alert allows a ten second cancellation period before being sent out which is good. I am very satisfied with the phone but since publishing my review, in the strongest terms, recommend you use a service provider other than Southern Phones. After four weeks of extremely frustrating contacts to get connected through them, and lack of action on the part of Southern Phones, despite stressing the concerns of my brother's GP over the delay, I eventually cancelled the service contract and simply purchased the phone outright. If you buy one, take my advice, use another provider as the other referees on-line in the main provide similar warnings and ratings of 1 out of 5 for that company's service. I was wary but doubted they could be as bad as reported. I was right - they are worse! Hope this helps.
I would like to purchase a swissvoice c50 seniors phone but haven't been able to find anywhere in Australia that sells them apart from Southernphone. Does anyone know where else I can buy one. I don't want to take out a plan with Southernphone as their reviews are abysmal.
Hi Jude, After the terrible experience I outlined in my earlier report, I finally ended up buying the C50s phone outright from Southern Phones at a cost of $599. Telstra is now the service provider for us on a $40 per month plan. You are wise not taking out a plan with Southern Phones for in our experience, 'abysmal' would be an understatement of the level (or more accurately lack) of customer service and support the organisation offers. You should most likely be happy with the phone though. All the best
Are you able to point me in the right direction for another distributor other than Southern phone? I can only see this company as supplier.... Thanks
Not sure I would buy this phone if I had my time over. Its performance is proving just 'so so', a real disappointment against initial hopes & expectations. That aside, I would never deal with Southern Phones again. Can't suggest any other supplier Good luck
Can you still access facebook on this phone?
