I bought a Telstra Easytough Discovery 3 phone a week ago from Telstra in Glenorchy Tasmania, within 24 hours the screen was cracked, I went to see the tech guy after this happening & he went home sick, so went back this morning to be told this is a fault with them & that I had to ring Telstra & sort it out with them, they didn't want to know about it, reckoned I damamged it, I had it in a pouch while out the day after I got it & never even got to make a call on it, it just died & I couldn't access anything on it ? I'm a pensioner & can't afford to throw $240 away just like that, I really need a replacement as it must have been faulty when I bought it. The tech guy told me you only have to touch the screen firmly & it will shatter, now what do I do ? I've got a brand new phone that doesn't work ? The supervisor from Telstra was going to call me back today but has never returned the call. I have all my phone/Internet business with them, time to change servers asTelstra won't help me.

Dear marabella, Your experience sounds similar to ours. No after sales service from your local agent who was not interested. However Telstra head office was completely different. After contacting them the local contract was cancelled, my bill was adjusted, Easytouch was returned and exchanged for a perfect Samsung unit costing AUD 79 which I purchased through our bill. Our contact with the lady at Telstra head office was cheerful and positive with excellent follow up. Telstra did the " right thing". I cant speak for the Easytouch as a unit-it is out of our price range. But Telstra ought to replace it if it is a defective unit as it sounds it is. My advice is to write the problem up on this and other consumer sites. Telstra does read them. I also recommend writing to Telstra head office in a written submission (not disposable e mail) Your custom is likely to be more important to them than the Easytouch phone. I hope you get a positive result. Easytouch Nowra

Hi Marabella, Did you buy from a Telstra shop ? If so they should have sorted the problem --why should YOU have to ring Telstra? I have had mine for 12 months and have even dropped it and NO cracked screen--they are having a lend of you--a product HAS to do what it is supposed to, or it has to be replaced. Keep on to them and demand action, do NOT give up. If not go to the Ombudsman or Fair trading and tell them that what you will do. Best of luck.

I finally got onto the complaints department just awhile ago & after an hour or so on the phone I got someone with some sense & she said send phone back to them & they would credit our account so we could go & buy a new one, so not going near the Glenorchy Telstra shop tomorrow will go to one at Eastland's as the people there seem to care more with their customers than Glenorchy do, I was determined not to give up like my husband did. Thanks everyone for your replies :-)

I can't locate how to record a personal message or answering service. Am I to be left with only a Telstra text message via voice recognition that appears to so often be incorrect?

I don't use personal message bank--I only have the SMS or voice message so can't answer that, however I would go to the Telstra shop and ask them
