splintery edges. For $60,000, you'd expect a bit more attention to detail. Throw the jigsaw away or tape the edges when cutting or better still, put a stack together and laser cut them! Shouldn't have to tell you!

bought a cover for the van but in doing this the battery goes flat and you can’t recharge it,the second problem the top door bolt came off in my hand, small screws into wood to hold a door fastener? The tinted window covers warp and will not open. The next problems were when we went onto dirt tracks, nothing too severe, and when we arrived at our destination and opened the door the table and pole support had all fallen onto the floor and taken the tracking with it,again screws far too small, and the fridge door had come open and floor was quite a mess as you can imagine. Oh and the radio stopped working and the lining on the roof is bubbling (water leaking)? The Van is a pleasure to tow it just seems to me is the little things have been left neglected and it’s the little things that get you found out in an off road camper,it’s a shame because with a little more attention to detail this would be a cracking little van. I did add Purple Line movers and love them for moving the van around.
Nothing broke, no leaks, set up and and pack up- a breeze- Love the idea of the slide out bed, it works well . However the van could do with a slight redesign to improve some interior aspects. By just slight moving forward the clothing cupboard at the sake of the side seating, some 4 cm and ditto the rear dining seat (and a hinged back rest rather than a fixed timber backrest ) could vastly improve the width size of the bed used. Not sure why the van has such bright lighting in the bedroom area. One thing I dislike is the table on a post, your remove it and put in the smaller post to convert to a bed, there has to be a better way than this cumbersome method.
Great light weight van with ensuite – Update Jan 2024 have put another 8000klm on the van and still very satisfied overall. Now towing with Mercedes Vito 119 LWB van. As below my major… Read more
gripe was with the useless stable door and insect screen. No security unless you lock the door. The screen has finally totally died and most of the operating strings have broken. Approx $500 for a new screen door. So bit the bullet and have installed an Aussie Traveller door and security screen. Has both insect and safety screen with 3 point locking. Can now sleep with door open. Have to cut larger hole in van wall to suit, but doable if reasonably handy (will do seperate review).
Have owned from new for 3 years. We were looking for a smallish van with an ensuite that we could tow without have to buy a large tow vehicle. Originally had a Kia Sorento which towed the van easily. Is very stable and have done many thousands of kilometres without tow issues. There seem to be regular complaints about these vans. I must say I think it pays to be a little handy if you want to own a van as some of these complaints seem to be common to caravans in general. Doors do come loose and often replacing screws with a slightly larger size can solve the problem. We have had a number leaks in water pipes. Our van seems to have a mix of 2 different click connections- John Guest and a Chinese generic fitting. The Chinese fittings have failed (flooding inside the van) and I have replaced a number with the better John Guest fittings. Our van came with a split entry door and sliding insect screen. It’s a personal choice but I would suggest avoiding and if possible get a 1 piece door with a proper security door. This allows better ventilation, handy in warm weather. Plenty of storage in both cupboards and under bed storage. For those who a little older I would also suggest checking whether you can pop the roof up. With the air conditioner on the roof it is a heavy lift. The island bed is very comfortable. The shower and toilet are seperate which is a plus and not always available on a van of this size. Have contacted A’van spares on couple of occasions with no reply. Overall more than happy with this van. Have made a few changes to suite ourselves and am considering changing the entry door. As with a lot of vans there is an issue with the load you can carry, but that is a problem that needs sorting out at a design level. If you fill the 2 water tanks you have used 2/3 of your allowed carry capacity.

has taken us through the centre, some gnarly rocky roads (into Palm valley, Hugh Gorge, etc) in the area, across to Mt Isa and Karumba before going south again to Victoria.
Last year we took it up to Seisia (tip of Cape York) via a number of corrugated dirt roads and return.
For the heat we bought a small 12/240v fan and this kept us comfortable when temps were in the +30s without power. The windows all opened out and let a considerable airflow through.
When cold (around and below freezing) the van condensated quite badly especially on the exposed overhead aluminium strips. This is quite normal and isn't a design fault. To rectify this I bought some thick fabric and glued it on - no problem since. The heater/aircon worked exceptionally well and kept us toasty warm when we were on powered sites.
It sets up really quickly and as yet we haven't had problems when erected/pulling down in rain. If it was torrential we would leave it for a few minutes/half hour until it eased. Once up, it is completely dry inside, even when the rain is wind driven.
The short drawbar does make reversing/turning quite difficult. You need to be extra slow as the slightest twitch on the steering wheel does have a huge effect on the van - this is the case with all short trailers - take it easy and with practice you get used to it.
Though one of the smallest and lightest vans on the market, it is roomy for two of us. It has lots of storage capacity and all the external cupboard door access have also internal access too. The benefits of being a small van does have BIG advantages. We found a few places we could get our van in, but other larger vans had missed out.
The corrugated roads up north and in the centre didn't affect our van at all. The clue is to drop tyre air pressures all round, so the tyres absorb the bumps and work with the magnificent off road suspension.
When I bought it, our first dirt road brought in a lot of dust. I looked everywhere for openings that might let dust in (there were quite a few, but expansion foam fixed these). I also have cut 'tunnelcore' from Bunnings and tape up the external vents - this has completely solved the dust issues.
Just a word of warning, be careful with creek/river crossings. Make sure the water level is lower than the floor as water can damage the aircon unit (under the bed).
I know of a bloke who towed is Avan Adventure Plus Aliner across the Simpson desert and again no problems.
If you don't mind not having an ensuite and want to visit some amazing places - consider this camper.
