Australian environment. This unit has failed twice - the first within the warranty period (a faulty seal and heating element) and the second just outside (but still covered by consumer law) being a faulty sensor.
The good news is the service department is responsive and they have a local plumber who can get to the unit quickly. But make sure you have those contact details handy. The first time this unit failed, it took three days for my plumber and the plumbing wholesaler to track down how to get repairs under way.
Note that my unit is now five years old. I hope that the current generation has addressed the quality issues.

Thermann X Split Heat Pump

efforts, we have never run out of hot water yet! Our solar system consists of 42 panels and 2 lithium batteries, and even on dreary old days it keeps up with the system well. My hair super light blond hair showed some copper deposits from the water, so I contacted Reece about that. They put me in contact with their water specialist who called me straight away, asked all the right questions and came up with a great plan for me straight away. Super happy with the service and the system!
Thermann C7 Continuous Flow
Unreliable and Costly – Constant Issues with the C7 Thermal – We have had constant issues with this unit. After spending approximately $7,000 replacing taps, aerators, pipes, and a regulator to rule out other… Read more
causes, the problem remains unresolved. The common denominator is the C7 Thermal, which was installed less than three months ago. Which, within the first month required the hot water unit to be replaced. On a brand new unit. Despite this, I have yet to experience a consistent hot shower. The water temperature fluctuates so much that I cannot even rinse my hair before it turns cold.
This has been incredibly frustrating, and I am beyond disappointed. A hot water system should provide reliable hot water, this one does not. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
***Additional Information*** We are on our fourth unit within 6 months. Each dead. Guess what. I contacted the service company and they said there was hard water. The newest one, that lasted longer than the rest is dead. I had a different plumber out. He said it made no sense. He said the filter has no sediment or evidence of hard water. There is no evidence of hard water in the system at all. He then said he couldn't get the pilot light to start. I AM DONE. He is ripping it out next week. We are putting in an all together new system that is in no way related to this company. He also told me that the inconsistent water temp is pretty normal for this unit.
I also forgot to mention, we would turn the tap all the way to hot to let it heat up, then slowly add cold. It didn't help the issue of inconsistent temp. We also had to run the vanity tap at the same time to keep the most consistence of temp. Have I mentioned how aggravated I am about this?

this is a part therefore NOT COVERED past 12 months. I have been told DO NOT LIGHT THIS HOT WATER SERVICE AS IT IS LIKELY TO START A FIRE. (Caps used to stress the importance of the message). Now I have to pay another $600 or so to fix this part. A new unit costs $1800. Total rip off.

apparently they don't cover the actual heating element.
I've had no other electrical issues at my house before or after. The Thermann unit was purchased to replace a 16 year old unit that had rusted and leaked.
When it dies again I'll replace with another brand and never touch this brand.

Thermann 32R Gas Continuous Flow was installed. Water is hot enough for showers but is a complete disappointment in the kitchen. I can hold my hand under the hot water tap without having to remove it. Does a terrible job of removing cooking and food residue without a lot more effort than in the past. Feels unhygienic as well. We are in the process of finding a better option.

with your home WiFi router. Meaning be prepared to buy a new compatible router and or a Wifi booster/aerial at your expense. In my case another $500. Oh and you won't know if it works till you have the unit installed. In my case the app synced to my phone for about 5 minutes before the unit shut down. Had the WiFi tested again at my expense another $120 gone. Everything worked, router talked but then shut down. Scratch scratch let's buy a new router. Sigh.
And another feature of this "Smart" power saving, heat me please when you have solar to save money, is the unit does an antibacterial cycle, which heats the water above 62 degrees for 30 minutes. In my case it did this at night, so there goes any power savings for a day or so.
The App works but is clunky.
So is it worth paying the premium for the smart controller? In my case no. But it may suit your needs, unfortunately you may find out the expensive way.

Thermann G-Series 26L

unacceptable if it is fitted anywhere near a living space. When the heater kicks in the sound is like a jet engine at idle. This is certainly louder than the old Rinnai 26 but isn't too bad. What is bad is the running of the cooling fans after turning off the tap. Regardless of whether you have run the hot water for 5 sec or 5 minutes, the cooling fan kicks in after the gas heating stops and the increase in noise level is significant, terribly annoying and runs for a full minute. We now close windows and doors when we know hot water is planned to be used.
Reece after sales service reviewed the system and said it was all normal. Apparently a larger cooling fan has been introduced and this is why it is noisy. I wish I'd known before changing from Rinnai.
The plumber who recommended Thermann as a replacement for the old Rinnai hadn't heard the sound of this model before and has stated he will no longer recommend Thermann.
Having tried to live with it for a month we are getting rid of it and replacing it with a Rinnai. Lesson learnt.
