Best Smeg Range Hoods
Smeg SHT600X
Great value for money! – A great Smeg rangehood for around $200 from Appliances On Line (AOL) which fitted up behind our cabinet allowing a 650mm clearance for the European… Read more
cooktop we also installed. Extra features not mentioned... 1) made in Turkey not Italy 2) a SMEG logo on front 3) has 4 speeds not 3. With dual fans it provides 50-100% more airflow than other units. It's a little noisy at speeds 2,3,4 however. The switches are on top which stops them from getting all "greasy" however vertically challenged people may find it annoying! AOL not only delivered it the next morning, they took away our old rangehood.

Working well. Spare grease filters are expensive – This Smeg unit replaced a decades-old Omega rangehood. Since we cook a lot, the rangehood gets daily use. The exhaust extraction is powerful, so we… Read more
have it on minimum setting. We wash the filters every week.
As precaution, I ordered spare grease filters, p/n 133.0059.251. The rangehood uses four filters. Local Smeg price is $184 each, but they are available in Europe under a variety of brands - Faber, Franke, Roblin.
I ordered mine from Rhone Depannage Service (RDS) in France. All-up cost to buy, and ship here via a freight forwarder, worked out to $92 each. The European filters feel more sturdy and seem to have better build quality. Dimensions are the same.
Postscript 25-May-2023: After a few months of use, all four original filters became unusable. The retaining tabs broke off, because the metal is too thin. The spare filters from France have thicker metal and are holding up well, so I need to buy more. Currently they are 37 Euros each: https://www.pieces-menager.fr/catalogue/filtres-de-hottes/filtre-metallique-/-filtre-a-graisse/piece-filtre-metallique-133.0059.251-roblin-133.0059.251-1602

Noisy appliance – This cooker hood is very noisy even on the lowest fan speed. It may work effectively to remove steam but the noise is very bad. We can't hear anything else in the kitchen. Show details

Great looking ranghood - If only it worked ! – I moved into a house that had a CK2000 range hood fitted. The performance of the rangehood was incredible for the first few weeks. Unfortunately… Read more
after two weeks it stopped working completely. No lights, No Fan, nothing. I called the Smeg service agent who informed me that the main circuit board is no longer available as a spare part. I'm now left with the choice of replacing the entire unit at $$$, or replacing with another brand and modifying the cabinetry to suit.
Based on this experience, I'd not be able to recommned this product.

Expensive repair quote due to oil/fat getting into the boards – In 2017 we decided on paying significantly more for a SMEG 120cm wall mounted rangehood based on reviews and recommendations from a reputable… Read more
Appliance retailer. 5 years later when the fan stopped working we called the local SMEG repair agent, (recommended by SMEG), to be told (after a 5 minute $154 callout) that we would be required to remove the unit and take to their service centre for evaluation. After doing this, and receiving a quote for over $2,000 to replace two boards, that had blown because cooking fumes described as oil/fat had got into the boards, has left me wondering what these SMEG rangehoods are supposed to do? Extract fumes I thought, but apparently if they are used for this, the fumes will blow the boards. Absolutely disgusted. No way will we replace this unit with another SMEG. Extremely disappointed and we will be ensuring other buyers know.
UPDATE: After publishing this review with a One Star I was contacted by SMEG and their response was prompt, and I am pleased to report very fair for us. We are looking forward to continuing with our repaired SMEG rangehood. Rating updated to VG, and no, SMEG did not ask me to do this.

had to continue to Install it but discovered the Device was Plastic & the Thinnest "Stainless" Steel making it flex regardless of the number of screws installed . In addition , The Installation itself was PAINFUL . The Flue securing was NOT though through for the INSTALLERS & was ill fitting & a Bodgey deal .... I Bought it without consulting the Industry ..... I Premium Brand I thought ..... Waste of Money ..... There are more expensive Models in the Range .... But this was so bad I would never consider the Brand again ....

Probably one of the worst extraction fans I have purchased – Installed a brand new SMEG fan and extremely disappointed. 3 Speeds - loud, louder and very loud. the lowest speed sucks better than top speed. So… Read more
bad we got the technician out to check it. Installed correctly, no issues and even he was dumbfounded at its lack of performance. You can watch steam from a boiling pot spill over and around the hood with hardly any extraction. The only remedy we were offered by E&S was to purchase another unit - an alternative brand. SMEG - might have great cook tops and ovens but I recommend testing their fans before purchasing one. There were no issues with installation, ventilation or competing airflows etc - just a very bad performing product. I will try and add a video. The most disappointing thing is the attending service man acknowledged that the fan was underperforming and failed to achieve what would be acceptable - but because the fan was "functioning" nothing could be done. Be careful what you purchase! Fan purchased 2020 and installed in a new build - operational 2021. $2000 unit - looks nice but very poor performance..

Fan leaking oil – The fan and light works well but I have noticed that the fan itself is leaking oil. I regularly clean the grease mesh filters so I know that it is regularly maintained. It seems the fan itself is leaking oil. The fan is less than 18 months old.

Complete waste of money – Has to be operated on maximum extraction level, and is so loud (it is a fully ducted installation) it's hard to hear TV or radio in the next room.… Read more
Does not extract more than around 70% even on maximum, any speed used less thanj that has very little effect. This new product was installed in brand new kitchen renovation in November 2019 and is so useless that the cupboards above the rangehood must be cleaned every day to remove grease and fumes that are not extracted. Complained to Smeg who sent a technician to inspect the installation. He advised us that the unit was not extracting correctly due to the installed flue pipe being too small in size, combined with the noise level being so high due to the flue pipe being made from soft flexible aluminium. A written report of this inspection was requested from Smeg so that it could be shown to the installer. It said 'Tested all ok'. So , we have nothing in writing from Smeg to substantiate the technician's verbal advice to us. What a complete waste of money!!!!!
