rendering our dishwasher useless due to water and moisture getting into electrics we have not used it in 7 years . Contacted Smeg numerous times to fix ,Smeg never reply or want to fix the problem when contacted directly always blown off and directed to another number . Expensive unit now reduced to a looking at item. Don’t fall for the Smeg dream of owning their appliances your dream becomes a nightmare and you get absolutely no assistance when it goes pear shaped. Although we have had this unit for quite a while the fact remains it has not been used in years due to the panel and Smeg casting us aside once they got the cash after purchase. Smeg are full of empty promises !
Smeg STH903
Hi Guys, I would not recommend the SMEG STH903 Dishwasher. Purchased one in 2020 as it suited my kitchen layout. Fits nicely under the cooktop. … Read more
Looked great and when it works is brilliant - cleans and dry exceptionally well. Unfortunately, nothing but trouble! Now on my 3rd service call (also now out of warranty). Plus made a trip to SMEG Campbelltown (or there abouts) to purchase bottom spray arms (only come as a full set - top and bottom) as both the bottom arms broke off, mid 2025. Cost over $300 (for some plastic parts? Really!). Now the 'Alternate Valve' has packed it in. Service guy here around mid December. Received a text that part will not arrive in Australia till early February 2026 (around 2 months) - 'do you agree to the $480 (odd) repair costs'. Yeah, naturally, what else can I do - fully integrated and no other option. A real lemon! I have another couple of SMEG kitchen appliance and am more than happy with them BUT I WILL never recommend SMEG to anyone for a major appliance. I've tried not to be negative and believe the first service call was due my fault - not understanding the operation of the machine - was under warranty and cost me nothing. Have always heard good things about SMEG but this latest issue and repair delay really peeves me off. Have had dishwashers (various brands) for around 45+ years but never experienced these problems or delays to repair. I wish you well if you choose a SMEG. Cheers Rick

first 12 months were trouble-free, but over the past three years, I’ve had five service callouts. Each time, I’ve been without a dishwasher for 3-7 days, depending on when it breaks down. Four of these repairs were due to a faulty door latch—which is still used in current models—while the other was a draining issue that occurred two years ago and hasn’t recurred.
As a mum of a disabled child, my time is already stretched thin, and I rely on a dishwasher to lighten the load, not add to my stress. I have reached out to Smeg, and while they have been reasonable to deal with, their support hasn’t been particularly helpful. On the other hand, the service agents have been fantastic. With just under 12 months left on my warranty, I’m curious to see what happens next. However, based on my experience, I’m unlikely to invest in a Smeg appliance again.

Had the unit around 3.5 years and it has a terrible electrical fault. Not sure if it's the motherboard or the motor. The buttons to select the cycle… Read more
broke about a year ago from every day use too. SMEG customer service are hopeless. My paperwork says there's a 10-year parts and labour warranty on the motor, however, when I spoke to the incredibly rude receptionist, she's saying they'll only cover the cost of the part, if it's the motor. Explained to her that the paperwork with the machine stated labour and parts, but she adamantly stated it was parts only. We've had the unit break down twice in the 2-year warranty period - in which the service repairman had found plastic debris - not from anything we'd put in the dishwasher though (wrong colour and located IN the machine), so it was a dodgey unit from the beginning. Now if we turn the unit back on at the power, it runs without being turned on - plus the awful burning smell coming from it indicating an electrical fault. Tried asking the (did I mention incredibly rude) receptionist at the SMEG service company, but she couldn't provide any guidance on what it might be. Surely, by the sounds of a fault, someone should have some sort of an idea, but service departments don't want to tell you anything over the phone anymore - customer service it awful. A $160 charge is too much especially when they wouldn't cover the cost of that charge if it does turn out to be the motor! Would NEVER buy anything SMEG again! Not just because of the unit, but also because of the TERRIBLE customer service. Our Whirlpool unit never skipped a beat until it died after about 14 years. Boo to SMEG. Would give it a zero if I could.

been replaced twice, the spray arm has been replaced as it allowed water into the base and the dishwasher was out of action for a month over a christmas, and two weeks ago we noticed the dishwasher was leaking and we now have water ingress into the 2 Pak facia and adjoining cupboard, in a four year old kitchen. The door seal was replaced two weeks ago and was fine however I have noticed at todays date that it has a slight leak once again in the same corner of the door, I haven't contacted the warranty department as yet about todays leak discovery. This dishwasher should be replaced under warranty.
