on clothes. It got better then started happening again. Cleaning it is a NIGHTMARE, so many little niches that collect dirt and dust. I have to clean filters with a toothbrush and a q tip and they're still not properly clean. The slots that the filters fit in are impossible to clean and around the top is a ridge that collects dirt. I clean my machine with appropriate product on hot monthly as instructed. The filthy filter slot is two weeks since last clean. I do wash heavy work clothes once per week. The good points, it's quiet and spins really well

As a single aged pensioner, budget was the overriding factor in my purchase of a new washing machine. My Samsung top loader had served me faithfully… Read more
for 11 years, but one morning it decided not to spin anymore. It had also developed the habit of depositing flakes of gunk on my washing, a problem no amount of tub cleaning could solve. After some online research, I decided on the Haier HWT75AA1 top loader from Appliances Online at $527. There were a couple of negative reviews, but the price and size were right.
There was an initial hiccup after installation. The cold water tap outlet leaked badly and resisted all my attempts to tighten it. A quick call to a relative with the right tools solved that problem.
Now, after a dozen or more loads of washing, my opinion is divided. The electronic controls are easy to use and there are 6 wash options. One annoying omission is the ability to change the agitation time. The only way this can be changed is to select a different wash option. It appears to get the clothes nice and clean, although I have yet to test it on something really grubby.
The spin cycle is extremely noisy at full speed, but in comparison to the Samsung, the clothes come out much drier. Some of the reviews complained about tangled clothes, but to date I have not had this problem (the Samsung was a notorious “tangler”). Having two lint filters in the tub is a definite plus. One criticism on a purely cosmetic level; the Haier water inlets are located on top of the machine and although this may provide easy access, it is just plain ugly. There is a loud noise from hot and cold taps when opening and closing (water hammer) and I did not have this problem with my previous machine.
It’s early days yet, but there are enough good points at present to outweigh the negatives. But I do miss the little tune my Samsung played at the end of the wash cycle (the theme from Schubert’s Trout Symphony). The Haier just beeps 6 times.

the dimensions - it fits under my benchtop, & takes up half the space of 2 separate appliances. I feel that after this length of time, I can give a decent, weighty review of this washer/dryer. I've only used the dryer function a few times, but each time, the clothes have come out perfect. I have been so impressed with it that I also bought one for my daughters' share-house. And they love it too! They use the dryer function at least 50% of the time, & they have never had any issues with it. I would definitely buy this brand again, and am completely sold on the concept of the combined washer/dryer, especially if you're downsizing - which I was.

the agitation on most settings is too aggressive, for want of a better word. Due to tangling, items get covered in lint that you need to remove Mix setting agitates prior to water fill to "level" the load. This is useless and often makes the load uneven. We're all quite capable of levelling the load! Most of the cycles are very long. It's not necessary if the washer functions efficiently. The only positives are that it's really quiet and easy to use. This is not much use given the wash quality is poor. This washer replaced our beloved Simpson that died after 20 years! RIP:) I shall forever lament the day the Good Guys salesperson talked us into this piece of junk. Just don't go there. For the record, I tried contacting Haier but you can only send a letter (who does that?), or call. I feel that it's more important to warn people, than have my feedback to a call centre person, go nowhere!

the bottom agitator action. Basically had to throw a couple of work shirts away due to these holes presenting an unacceptable appearance.
Secondly, this machine has very poor filtration and leaves small flecks of rotting brown mould or something across a lot of the washing. This is despite rinsing the filters religiously after every wash. When these flicks are wet you cannot scrape them off. They just wipe into the washing when they are dry. They crumble and when they brushed off they just crumble into the washing. It’s a fairly disgusting in the stomach churning experience.
I wish it were easy to return this machine however it is a large washing machine unfortunately, but I will be taking it up with the company.
Cannot recommend the purchase of this item. It is certainly put me off other Haier products.

minutes to 20 minutes constantly and I have to continuously keep running to the washing machine which if not checked can just keep adding more time on to the wash cycle. I have actually felt down the side of the barrel and there is some type of sponge cushioning which I believe balances the barrel but now it has become compressed so now the barrel bangs around everywhere - when I purchased this machine in May 2022 I did check the reviews but the negative ones only emerged after I had purchased it. Please don't purchase this machine or any product that is a Haier as I have spoken to a lot of people with Haier products. My last washer lasted 11 years and this one 2 years and it cost me $948.00. an old Miele, and so far i'm very impressed and paid less than half the price of a basic Miele model. It is very intuitive to use. It weighs the load before deciding to add water and start the wash. It has a 4.5-5 star energy rating and now I know why. I was a bit concerned as I rarely wash 10kg in one go. but this machine has worked it all out. if you have a load 5kg or less,it takes half an hour. There is also a 15 min wash for smaller loads. Lights flash at you to show you which button to press next if you dont know. So clever! Delay start is also easy to use. It is also relatively quiet, even on spin. Much quieter than my old Miele! What a bargain!

or surprises, cycle time what I expect Dries well when you pick the right setting. ⦁ The barrel is huuuuge, I love it ~600mm wide and 400mm deep ⦁ Quiet, not Miele quiet but with direct motor I have to regularly go into the laundry to make sure it’s on, replaced a 10kg Samsung (the model just before they caught fire) and it’s much better. ⦁ Nothing that I can find which needs to be cleaned every time it dries, I checked the cleanout after 10 washes and it was immaculate to my surprise. ⦁ Double protection on the door means it’s not hot to touch even on a 90 degree wash.. though the whole machine gets very warm when drying.
Don’t like ⦁ Black colour does not work with most people’s laundries and highlights scratches and dirt, no white option at the moment. ⦁ Dispenser only accessible at the top so you can’t under mount it ⦁ The controls take an unusual amount of holding down to work, the play button for example needs to be held down for over 3 seconds to run selecting the cycle type works instantly the wash modifiers instantly… just about everything else has a weird built-in delay. ⦁ Pressing Dry and then Towels instead does a fully wash and then dry… instead of just knowing that it’s drying towels ⦁ Like many people we don’t use softener, however the machine incessantly flashes at you unless you put something in it. So I filled it with water ;| ⦁ The detergent lid and compartment covers constantly have moisture on them, much worse when you’ve done a dry, yet the manual specifically says leave these closed I wonder if all this moisture is going to kill internal components fast? ⦁ There is an optional bottom cover, the installers said they are not sure it’s a good thing as it reduces airflow through the machine, I might take this off after a dry and see how bad it is in there. ⦁ The thing makes a annoying jingle at the end of the wash, yet to figure out how to turn this off
A separate section for how bad the app is, it’s useless.
It’s functionality requires you to turn on the device (by being in front of it) after it turns on you then have to hold down the remote button with your load already in and the door closed. Then you have to make your decision within 30 seconds or the machine turns back off. ⦁ You cannot remotely turn on ⦁ You cannot remotely change an existing cycle that it’s started (can’t add a rinse, add/remove a dry etc) ⦁ The thing turns off before you can tell it instead of just washing, to continue to dry… you get something like 1 min after it finished the current operation which is painful ⦁ You cannot do any of the wash modifiers, so you want to add a rinse to your towel wash? Not in the app you arn’t.
Missed expectations:
1, if the machine is on I want it to be available for control in the app, there was enough stuffing around to get it wifi connected with wavers signed. Even better give me the option of making it accessable all the time 2, I want the app to have access to much more data (wash history inc time, power/water used etc 3, I want the control panel to instead be a LCD where I can replace/rename the the wash types with the cycles I regularly use in the order and with the icon I want (we’re in 2026 guys) that way the WAF can immediately select the correct wash from the list of what I’ve made available on the front of the machine
