Avenger High Performance Automatic Questions & Answers
We have the Avenger, we cant get it to sit flat enough on the pool surface to suck any leaves up.Its moving around up on one side ,so not collecting anything.any help?
Why does my pool cleaner only do left side of pool and what can I do to fix this?
1.Check you have both white washers in the screwed joint of the cleaner shaft to allow it to rotate. 2.Maybe twist the hose connection 90 degrees where it inserts the filter fitting, that may neutralize any set in the hose? 3.Is your auto pilot fitted correctly? I find the highest or second highest position the best for my pool. 4.I also fit the weight ring just above the third hose fitting near to the Avenger [ie still on the third hose], 5.Finally, check your hose length, I found in my large pool it worked best with an extra length added to its recommended length.
We have had our Avenger Pool Cleaner for about 18 months now. We recently had to replace the diaphragm. We have bought two new diaphragms as they have both split at the neck of the diaphragm after being fitted. Any reason why this would happen?
Hi Leanne... If the diaphragm is constantly splitting right at the top, there is too much suction. As the diaphragm pulses, it squeezes down on the tube it is connnected to. If you have too much suction, the diaphragm will press down to hard too often and wear from the inside out and eventually split.
The cleaner should have been supplied with a bypass valve to install at the other end of hose and into the skimmer box vaccuum plate. This valve can be adjusted so that more suction is diverted through the valve, rather than the head of the cleaner. Often times, pool owners will just plug the hose directly into the skimmer without the bypass valve, but it should be used so the wear in the cleaner is minimised.
If the diaphragm is splitting length wise down the middle, or anywhere else, this is most likely caused by sharp debris such as palm spikes, sticks, gumnuts or stones. Hope this helps!
Can you adjust suction and or the float that sits on the head?
Indeed Bagman... the cleaner is supplied with a bypass valve for installation at the beginning of the hose and plugged into the skimmer box vaccuum plate. This is where the suction can be adjusted.
As for the float, this can moved up and down the head of the cleaner by simply unclipping it at the back and clipping it back onto the cleaner in the slots available.
