I have the latest 2025 Bugg from Domain Nov 2025. I’ve been trying for nearly an hour to screw the LPG lead onto the gas bottle. The thread does not want to take up. I’ve never seen one with this Black Nylon or plastic attachment. I’m used to the old metal on metal. I just cannot get the plastic attachments to screw properly to the bottle. I am turning a clockwise. How does it work? I will put some dish-liquid on it to see if that works

Hi Gruffles, The new gas hose suits the new gas bottles LCC27 fitting your old one is probably a 21 POL. The option is to upgrade your gas bottle or as I did was use my old gas hose then upgrade when doing swap and go. There was no additional cost to me for changing to the new bottle with LCC27 at the servo.

How do I replace the Ignition Piezo Lead on my Beefeater Bugg? Is there a service manual available? Thanks

Sparky John
Sparky John

I haven't seen the service manual. At the ceramic and needle ignition point, there is a spring holding the ceramic body, unclicking the spring will undo the cable. Do observe the distance between the needle tip and the metal case. keep the same distance when putting it back. At the knob end, it's just plug in, but you need to remove some covers to get access. I guess Electrolux may be in a better position to give a official answer.

Thanks Luke. Do you know how to remove the ignition body to get to the plug? Ie: removing the knobs, etc?

How to get spill tray out of bbq?

Sparky John
Sparky John

You need to pull the U-pin from behind first. To make the BBQ stable, the U-pin should be always put back no matter you mount it on a table or stand

Dear Sir - Our "BUG" BBQ is working on one side element only , with very little flame on the other side. Can you tell me how to fix this. We ate using natural gas - and it has been converted by a professional. The unit is about 5 years old. Thank you.

Sparky John
Sparky John

For safety reason, the gas devices are supposed to be serviced by a qualified person. Having said that, you can always check the cleanness of the gas tube and the jet affected. As the gas comes in from the hose and splits into two tubes. At the end of the tubes are two jets. Check the jet with less flame, it could have been blocked by the dirt. If blocked, you can always clean it with some of solvent/degreaser and a needle. Also check the burner to see if all the holes are clean. In theory, natural gas has less pressure so more sensitive the blockage. The jets should normally have bigger holes than the LPG jets.

Hi anyone I have had a Bugg and thoroughly enjoyed it for a long time now 7/8 yrs... poor old thing has lost its handle, the rack on the bottom of the stand has surface rust all over and it's missing a rubber foot. All in all its looking pretty sad and I think it time for an update. At the time of buying it was a smaller option of two sizes and its hard to tell if the Amber one sold through Harvey Norman might be the smaller one. That said I now live in tinyville and I'm looking for tiny so I'll utilise a table rather than get a stand. I've loved it & its home made (although I have heard otherwise), however the base without the stand has got me worried - is there something else to stabilise it? 1 other question. are the burners removable now? that would make it easier to clean. Thanks Cheryl

Right hand burner of 3 burner BBQ has very weak flame and does not light the whole body. Have reamed out gas jet but makes no difference.

Sparky John
Sparky John

may need to ream out the burner of a new burner? You can always swopt the jets and burners( I know you can position them reversed but just to see the flame.

Grasp it firmly and pull! But brace yourself because it suddenly pops out. To get it back in I give it a firm whack.

Make sure you keep the hood down so the top is balanced, and, secure the top. The top is very easy to tip over when you pull the u pin.

So far so good but how do I take out the grease tray and put I to back in once it is assembled.?

Sparky John
Sparky John

Unfortunately, once assembled with the trolley, there is no way to take the grease pan out, it's a design flaw. Please refer to my review for details. The simplest solution seems to be, like one of the other reviewer suggested, dropping or removing the grease pan bracket during assembly so the pan can seat on the trolley top and slide out under the locking pin.

Sparky John You pull the locking pin right out at the back, then remove the drip tray from the side ( not the back) it just pulls out

My bug keeps going out by the slightest bit of wind. Have 2 solid plates, replaced the grill, may this be the trouble?

Sparky John
Sparky John

My understanding you can't use two solid plates, otherwise the Bugg can't breathe. you need to use at least one grill. Or alternatively you can use the panchayat plate which has breathing holes around the edge.

Joe
Joe

Thanks John for the answer, I'll try with the original grill and then I'll try with the solid plate and drill a row of holes around the edge of one plate. Again thanks for the quick answer!!! Gr. JOE.

One of my bugg lighter jets is slow to light and has a yellow flame end doesn't light the main gas ring .. Its been converted to natural gas by a licensed plumber and has been ok previously

Sparky John
Sparky John

I think for natural gas, there is a different set of jets and a different regulator. It can be the gas is dirty or the regulator is faulty as natural gas has lower pressure, if the jet is partially blocked or the regulator reduces too much pressure, the mixture won't be right. As gas devices are safety critical, they have to be repaired and verified by a licenced person. As users, the best we can do is to do the obvious cleaning.

JohnI
JohnI

Thanks for the reply. The bugg was converted to natural gas using the kit supplied by BeefEater and a licensed gas plumber.. There is no regulator on the hose for natural gas. The new main natural gas jets as supplied were fitted. One side of the bugg lights perfectly. The other side doesn’t. The gas jets are only for the main burners The jet that lights it initially is a single jet that is ignited by the piezoelectric lighter. It doesn’t appear to be as strong and burns with a yellow flame whereas the good one is a blue flame that is much stronger. There is no apparent jet used for the starter flame. All worked well for the fist 8 months and only recently has it nor been lighting correctly.

JohnI
JohnI

Correction It has a very small regulator that is a natural gas special . The problem as stated before is not with the main gas burner but with the small one that is used to ignite the main one. It would appear to be non-adjustable as it has no jet visible.

Sparky John
Sparky John

I have read your initial question again, I may have misunderstood it, the left is harder to be ignited? OK, please look at the ignition needle , there should be a few mm gap between the tip and the metal below. When you clean the Bugg, this can be disturbed, grease can be dropped onto it so short-circuited. Don't try to bend the needle to correct it as its ceramic housing can break easily. To increase the gap, you can try to bend the metal part slightly. And use degreaser/WD40? to clean the surrounding area. Beside, when you start, you should be able to see the spark between the needle tip and the metal part. If there is no spark, you need to replace the ignition kit.

hi, i have a near new bugg that keeps going out with the lid down, any ideas on what to do?

Sparky John
Sparky John

The lid hinge is integrated with a vent, have look if it's blocked. The gas from the bottle is mixed with the air from the area below the rear of the lid so that area has to be clear as well. Otherwise a closer look at the jets to see if any grease of dirt blocking the air. Besides, does this happen to both burners?

scott
scott

Thanks for that, I’ll check, just the left side, can’t see anything blocking the jets

Sparky John
Sparky John

That seems to point to the area the gas mixing near the left jet as it should mix even when the lid is down. Besides, you can't use both plates, it has to be at least one grill because the design relies on the grill to 'breathe'

I have a brand new Bugg and when I turned on the burners there was a fair bit of smoke and a hissing noise. As i turned it off a big flame came up. Is this normal?

I cannot remove the ubolt from my Bugg BBQ. I think it has been put in upside down. Is there anyway I can remove it? I bought it two months ago and this is the first time I have used it.

dougenhauser
dougenhauser

It is a bit hard to remove. Give it a god yank but hopefully the drip tray is not full and be careful of the bbq because without the u bolt it can fall off the stand.

Sparky John
Sparky John

The U-bolt is latched at two places of the bottom bracket towards the front. Try to spray some WD40 at the latches and you need to pull it hard. Again, it's very important you hold the BBQ firm otherwise, like me, the Top can tip over and be damaged. To be safe, a two man operation is recommended.

If you have someone handy, it's possible to modify so that the U-bolt doesn't need to be detached every time you access the grease tray.

The rubber lid bumper on my beef eater bugg keeps falling off. How do I get it to stay on?

Sparky John
Sparky John

If you meant the lid seal along the lid edge, I bought mine from Electrolux where they sell Beefeater spares. I filled the seal with high temperature silicone before pressed it onto the lid. So far I have used it half dozen times, still good. I try to visualise what happened to yours. The current seal is made of silicone with steel clips built in, if loose, you need to squeeze it a bit before pressing back in. If you apply high temperature silicone sealer, you need to degrease the whole seal and dry it before sealant application. I heard some older seal are not made of silicone or just aged, you need to buy a replacement. Some old Bugg don't have the lid seal. Instead, there are two tiny rubber bumpers on the edge of the bottom housing, they are easily coming off. If you have the seal on the lid, I think, you don't need them. Hope the info helps.

Hi there, we have a second hand Bugg and the ignition knobs have come off. We can't figure out what the issue is and how to put them back on. Is it as simple as pushing them back on? If so, they're probably damaged and we will have to buy new ones! Thanks
