Hi. I’ve never had to reset before! Maybe turn off then restart . The instruction booklet may help also !

The internet says to switch the machine off/unplug for 5-10min. Then connect to power again. Apparently that resets drains any residual charge. See instructions here: external link 

Same issue, had the engineer out, he spent 20 cleaning it and checking with diagnostics, said it would work now. When he left we tried it, it's just the same. Now have to have them come back, worst idea I have ever seen, wish it was the old way

I had similar issue with the detergent tray.. I diagnosed the fault and found that the detergent level sensor (the probes next to detergent pump) was showing open. I guess the sensor wiring might have broken internally. I just bypassed the sensor by putting a jumper on the connector, and it fixed the issue. So for either when detergent or softner are not releasing, most likely the fault is either in the sensors or the pump itself.. try to test these first!

Try turning off the main supply & unplug for 1 minute. Then retry. Failing this whilst machine is back on with supply choose any setting then close & open the door 6 times which should reset the programming. If this is unsuccessful then you will have to contact an accredited technician as perhaps the control panel (motherboard) may need to be inspected. Good luck.

I have the same issue too can no longer use IDOS system have to put in the detergent manually and turn off idos so that the programs work. The draw is fully clean it’s been like this for over a year. I suspect the sensors are no longer working but to be able to use the washer you have to turn off IDOS as they are pre programmed to pull the detergent for different wash cycles. Very frustrating

I have the same issue my Idos won’t dose fabric softener or washing liquid. Don’t recommend spending all that money in the washing machine

Hi Monica - the machine should be fixed under warranty. Go through whichever retailer you purchased the machine to organise a service call out. In my experience Bosch are really REALLY bad at customer service but I hope you have an easier run with them. I’m so disappointed with Bosch. Cheers Gen

We would recommend to Try to reset via 3 second reset, hold the start button in for 3 secs the timer should go to 0:01 which is a 1 min countdown to reboot. When the machine turns back on restart a cycle. Alternatively you can do this at power supply by turning off the unit for 5 mins. Hi Alethea, I had a similar issue with my WAW32640AU. No fabric softener and kept getting E81 error at the end of the cycle. The tech came out, ran a test to confirm it was a faulty dispenser drawer and then replaced with new. Unfortunately mine was 4yrs old so had to pay call out fee + the part. He was nice enough not to charge any labour because it was a quick fix for him.

I will never buy another self dosing, self cleaning or self whatever appliance again. All this "intelligent" automation sounds great until it breaks then you're screwed.

TO BOSCH... This is a common problem with these iDOS machines as you can see from many posts with same error. It is a design flaw and customers should NOT have to pay for a replacement even outside of warranty.

Thank you but my issue happened some time ago so too late now. Yes of course you cant prevent failure but the fact this issue seems quite common I still say it is a flaw. I had recommended this washer to a friend and they got the same problem only after 3 years. Even the technician said its a common problem. The washer is great but is let down by this one flaw. To be clear, I don't have anything against Bosch. I have a Bosch Home Professional heat pump dryer and its been fantastic.

Agreed - this has now happened to my 4 year old machine. Bosch washing machines are amongst the most poorly manufactured I have ever encountered. Frequent E81 errors and now no detergent dispenses from the iDOS - I didn't know until I had checked the dispenser wondering why it hadn't needed to be replenished. I probably did 30 washes before I noticed - that's 30 washes of clothes just in plain water - yuk. Bosch won't even service regionally areas, you are put in touch with an electrician at best. A disastrous product. I cannot and will not recommend BOSCH to anyone. Money back?

mine is brand new, i came online to see what the story is and it seems that they have known about this, and 4 years later for a machine bought in 2022 it seems that this seems to still be happening. my first bosch and i am shocked.

Currently having the opposite problem. Got our new machine last week. Detergent level has not changed but fabric softener almost gone in a week.

I had a fabric softener dispensing problem on my 8 series IDos and found out that the small gears in the motor became too large getting stuck. The 4 stupid 5 star screws was removed using 2 small screwdrivers so I cleaned the gears and let them and the other hosing parts sit in the 30 degr. C sun for a few days and then they were fine.K from Sweden

I have just bought a brand new series 8, delivered 2 days ago. I used it twice on the first day (in addition to the drum clean recommended in the manual). I noticed straight away that the softener wasn't dispensing. The first time, I turned the "intelligent" dosing off, the second time on. Still full. I then had to wash our baby's clothes, so had to empty out the full softener dispenser to use baby softener. I also used liquid baby detergent and turned the intelligent dosing on. The pump to dispense the liquid detergent worked and I could see the water turn soapy. But I didn't hear the pump work late on in the cycle to dispense the softener and it was still full at the end. I called Bosch customer service about this. First bit of helpful advice was to clean the drawer! Brand new! I did mention all the various complaints about the softener dispenser issue that I'd seen online when trying to find out if there was a fix for this, but got a pretty dismissive response. A week until they can get someone out. Bosch, it looks like, despite what you say above, there is a pretty major flaw with this system - the dispenser pumps - that you've been aware of for at least 4 years. This is the first and will be the last Bosch appliance we buy.
