What is the 4 pin blue plug in the front of the 186 Bossweld machine?
Hi Sue. The 4 pin plug is where you would plug in a spool gun.
Note. After you use 50% of the wire the wire feed motor will fail.I have had 3 replaced in this chinese junk good luck
Yes it is for a spool gun . I have never had a problem with my welder but I havent use the spool gun on it
I have a gasless Bossweld M100 that I bought from Bunnings about 2 years ago so out of warranty. I haven't used it much and not for 6 or 8 months or so. Got it out today but I can't get it to Arc. Wire feeder works ok and I can here the fan running but no arc. Any ideas.

I have a new BossWeld MIG 186 I recently purchased. The wire sticks in the handgun and causes all sorts of trouble inside the welder. Any suggestions to rectify this? Michael in Tassie

Dear BossWeld, I did some modofications on the holder for the wire spool and changed the handgun nipple so I think I may have solved the problems. Thank you for your offer of assistance but it seems I worked the problem out myself. Regards Michael
Not a problem Michael. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us on 02 8761 6500 or email us at sales@dynaweld.com.au.

I bought my MST185 in 2019 from Bunnings. It was faulty and after much arguing Bunnings replaced it. Since then I’ve not looked back. It’s a great machine for the diy welder. What concerns me is the number of faulty machines Bunnings and others seem comfortable to sell. What is going on? I’m about to buy the P40 plasma cutter but hesitant for the obvious reason. I’m afraid saying “we will replace it if it’s DOA or faulty “ is just not good enough. Dynaweld should ensure better quality control so the faulty machines do not enter the market. Or Bunnings may be handling them roughly. That way we can buy with confidence.
Hi mate, I am thinking of getting the same machine for myself but I only have 10 amp and I am wondering if this machine trips out circuit breakers in long period of use? Have you tried using all different types of welding with this machine and is it really value for money?
I run mine from a generator equipped with 15a outlets. It’s an 8kva generator and it works hard when welding. Never tripped it though. Tried mig and stick only and works fine in each. I believe it’s definitely value for money.
what size plug on the 185 mig 10 amp or 15 amp
15amp 240v
15 amp
I have been looking everywhere for a mid-range mig 150amp ebay has lots of bad quality grap and the bossweld 150 seems good value for money?
That is a statement not a question. I know nothing about the Bossweld 150 but it should be fine as the Bossweld range is good quality.
Hi Jeff. Mine has been going strong since new. Like anything I guess, there can be issues but that's technology for you. I've heard just as many horror stories of cigweld, austarc etc. I has warranty, it's legally enforceable so if it's within your budget and your intended workload for it then I'd wholeheartedly recommend the Bossweld 186 which I own. Remember to swap the orientation of the feed spool thingo as it's set for gas-wire (well mine was) and was chewing up my gaslesswire because it is softer and the feed would block. As soon as I sorted that (2 minutes) it was awesome. I've welded up gates, a chicken pen, a set of extractors and replaced the cat convertor on my car with it. So yeah, impressed with my unit. The 150 should be of similar capability.
Thank you for your reply....Jeffrey
Hi Jeff , sorry about jumping on the back of your post , but this is a message to Hunter Built and I don't know how else to clarify the misconception about the drive rollers ( thingies ) on his machine . The knurled ( toothed ) rollers are in fact the ones to use for flux cored wire because of the very softness of the product compared to solid wire . You need to back off the tension with flux core so it's not distorted by the rollers . The easiest way to get it right with these home welders would be to back off the tension spring until it won't drive the wire then wind up the tension while holding the trigger until the wire starts driving smoothly . This should happen with barely a mark on the wire from the knurling , I would do it with a loop in the lead to replicate actual welding conditions . If the machine you are looking at hasn't got an ajustable tensioner I would look at something else . I hope this information is of some use . Cheers , Grayam .( Indentured welder with many years experience with various mig machines )
I have a Bossweld 186 and it was working fine but got hot so turned of till cooled. This did it 3 times but on the last time I switch it back on and the wire feed won't feed. Is there something as a easy fix or could is it MAJOR?
Contact Bossweld , I am just a user of the same machine.
I just wondering if thats works perfectly overseas specially to countries producing 60hz
Sorry you are asking the wrong person, I use this machine daily in my workshop. I am not a sales Rep. for this product
my bossweld has just started arcing all the time before I pull the trigger, can anyone help
I have never been able to run a weld without the wire birdsneating at the roller, too the point am about to throw the unit into the bin. This has been from new ? It was purchased 3 years ago and after numerous attempts just put on the shelf, any ideas ?
Possible causes are wrong tip size , ( to small) tension on roller to tight, Incorrect roller alignment or wrong grove on the roller to suit wire. The hand piece lead needs to be straight as possible to allow easy flow of the wire. Any bends will cause it to jam. If it was like that from new you should have sort warranty. Hope that helps. Lloyd
Turn the roller feed 'washers' around the other way. It's set for gas wire (which is harder), and it will chew up the flux in the gas-less wire causing it to ball up. I discovered this myself and was about to crush the unit with my bare hands (maybe) when I decided to switch them around. Unscrew the tip so you can feed without hindrance to check it's feeding ok once you've switched them. Best of luck.
Bossweld 186 blows fuse on circuit board....how to correct?
Contact Bossweld Sam, I am a user of the machine not a technician. They are pretty good with their customer support i have found. Cheers Lloyd
I'm looking for a new inverter welder, I want 100%duty cycle at 165 amp same as I have now. I often go flat chat on repairs with 3.2. The adds say yes to duty cycle but not %?? Any ideas?
Try goggle search.
Hey guys. Can I run my bossweld Mig 186 inverter with a 15amp male plug . Can I run a 15 amp lead with a 10amp male plug in a normal home socket. I'm just a DYI guy learning how to weld.
You can with a Powertech 15A to 10A Converter / Adapter & RCD suits Caravan 15 Amp to 10 Amp ,they are selling on Ebay link:http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Powertech-15A-to-10A-Converter-Adapter-RCD-suits-Caravan-15-Amp-to-10-Amp-/171452731309?hash=item27eb610fad:g:~30AAOSwuhhXVHKO , have one myself they work great ,cheers
There is a reason why the device is rated at 50% more than the rated normal household 240v 10 amp plug. That is an extremely foolish thing to just imagine you can circumvent by simply using an adaptor. If you are as you say an amateur DIYer then you should be aware that bypassing Aus Standards is reason to void your insurance. You will likely have a fire when the circuit overheats due to insufficient cable cross section. 2.5mm2 is the cross section of your power cables for normal GPO use. 4mm2 is the cable rating for a 15amp PO.
It also depends upon your supply capacity and other componentry along with what else is shared on the circuits.
If indeed as has happened on single phase circuits you blow the council fuse you might be liable for $10k's or more of damage done to lines and other structures.
No-one in their right minds bypasses the wiring codes SAA 3000 rules without good reason. Simply wanting to stick your toaster and electric kettle on the same double adapator in your kitchen whilst operating an electric frypan and Microwave at the same time whilst having a ceramic fuse with oversized fuse wire wrapped around a few times...this may seem to some to be an unusual situation however this happens more often through stupidity than one would ever imagine.
So the reason you pay for an extra correctly wired circuit is if the capacity is there to do it and in most cases there isn't that spare capacity then better to leave it and go and buy or lease yourself a factory unit if you want to play at being an amateur DIY'er.
Welders start more electrical fires used on the incorrectly rated circuits than mostly any other types of tools.
They use way more current than what the total household circuits take in one device. The Exception being an electric HWS.
Lunacy is so oft the excuse of the mindless. Have a sparky put a circuit in for your 15amp devices and understand that adapators for. Caravans are not the same outlets or inputs as a welder which is an industrial tool usually worked off 3phase .
If you are an accident waiting to happen then by all means be cheap and place yourself at risk along with neighbours and your family.

You can run a 15 amp on a extension cable as long as the extension cable plug and socket are rated at 15 amp. As for a 15 amp socket the cable size 2.5 mm twin and earth this has to be wired back to meter board on it own circuit and because it's a socket it has to be (rcd) protected residual current device this can be in the form of a combination breaker within RCD built in or 15 amp breaker and wired into an existing RCD protection device. Changing the plug via an adapter will only cause problems as breaker will continually trip due to over loading.
All good boys
I ended up running a dedicated 15amp lounge from the box. Thank you for all the responses.
