does this model have a plug in wifi controller option?

Dan

Just get a $15 remote wifi controller for heat pumps from Aliexpress and it works like a charm. No need to pay extra $200 just to have a built-in wifi.

Hi, I have ordered a Daiken Inverter control,Cora FTXV71WVMA This will be installed in a weeks time. I have just been looking at the reviews and am concerned. Can I see this as a good purchase one that is quiet and , no clicking, works well, heating and cooling, and is economically efficient? I would appreciate a quick reply as I need to discuss with the. Business that is installing it. Thanks

Hi Bette, I have the Daikin Cora cooling only air conditioners installed throughout my house (2 bedrooms, kitchen/dining and lounge). I have had them for the last 18 months with no issues. They are quiet (no clicking) and operate very economically. I haven't experienced any problems like what I've read on some of the reviews here.

Hi Bette, the Daikin Cora series features whisper quiet operation, industry leading energy efficiency and superior comfort levels without compromising on style. Thanks, Daikin

The two I had had the clicking noise issue but some of my friends don’t seem to have this issue. The installers told me they have been replacing a lot of Cora units for purchasers because of the ticking noise issue. Trust the reviews.

Well had mine put in 60 model last week and it's ticking. Installer came to have a look and tied to tell me it was normal and not to leave it on the quite mode (moon and tree). It ticks in start up then over night at time in 45 second intervals.

As an engineer of many decades, I believe Daikin USED TO HAVE the best aircon units available. Then they started to produce a plethora of models (like GM/Ford unlike Subaru say) so all of those models have issues and they no longer have the focus on how to fix/improve a limited number of models. I have 3x 2.5kW Cora plus one 6kW Cora unit installed in my house, but the 6kW one has just failed after six years of use 30-40 days per year. As usual, repairers don't carry parts and the immediate recommendation is to buy a new one... All aircon manufacturers ought re-tool to have 'smarts' (logic) done by off-the-shelf $30 Arduino tiny computers, rather than proprietary motherboards, as the controllers all fail, and the cost to repair whole unit is astronomical, for the failure of a $3 capacitor blown somewhere. Curiously, Daikin still charge a premium price, yet all such aircon units turn out to now be disposable/unrepairable products, so likely not worth paying any premium any more!

I cant get the batteries out. The cover doesn't slide all the way down. Am I supposed to unscrew small screws? Nothing in the manual about it.

Pull the cover firmly down past where it exposes the Timer batteries symbol and it will pop off. To replace slide on then tap firmly with the heel of hand!

How many solar panels will I need to run this aircon on a normal sunny day

Bman
Bman

Depends on the size you choose. I have the 9.4 kw unit and it draws approximately 3kw (electrical) when running flat out. These are inverters though, so they do operate at reduced rates once target temperature is acheived. If you were to install solar because you were running the air con often just install the largest you can get (usually 6.6 kw panels with 5 kw inverter)

Carrol C
Carrol C

Thank you Bman. I have the 7.1kw already installed and an electrician is coming in two days to quote on panels for the express purpose of powering the aircon often. However as price is an issue, I don't want to be feeding too much back in to the grid.

If I want to recycle the air inside the house will in cool or heat mode. What is the setting on the controller? I don't want to draw the smoke and ash into the house.

lawrance
lawrance

Nearly all split system airconditioners operate in recycle mode only, with the exception of perhaps one make/model, i.e. the Daikin Ururu Sarara aka US7, which has the ability to also draw in fresh external air into the room.
