My carpet head for the DC54 has lost it fabric strip. Can this be replaced?
I will think so
Hi alisonr, the velvet soleplate strip isn't available separately, to resolve this issue we'd suggest replacing the Turbine head, which is sold here on our website: external link external link
Can the suction be reduced for a rug
To reduce suction, you can pull the trigger in the handle to reduce suction by about 1/3 for cleaning more delicate surfaces. If we can assist further, our Dyson Experts are only happy to help. You can find our contact details here: external link
Yesterday I purchased the tangle free turbine tool. I have a DC54 and was told it was compatible. The leaflet inside the packaging says it is compatible....but....I can’t fit it on....any suggestions. The join bit is the same size as the pipe so won’t click into place
This sounds quite unusual and our Dyson Experts are keen to help. Please get in touch with our team directly via live chat, Facebook Messenger or phone. You can find our details here: external link We look forward to hearing from you and assisting.
Thank you for referring me to your support staff. Customer service was excellent and I was able to obtain the correct head for my vacuum which arrived in two days ...very happy customer
I have a dyson dc54 which is blue will the yellow one fit the same machine .
Please be assured the Cyclones for the DC54 are the same across the DC54 range with the colour being the only difference. There would be no issue swapping the cyclones as long as they are Genuine Dyson DC54 Parts.
If we can assist further, our Dyson Experts are available via auaskdyson@dyson.com and are happy to help.
Hello,
I have the dyson Dc 54 for about 4 years now and it's terrible from day dot. My question is can I or how can I pull it apart to check right in the motor as it makes a squiling noise and has very bad suction. Nothing is blocking it from the nozzle side
Hi Corinne, Thank you for your question and we are sorry to hear that you feel this way. You can find instructions for checking blockages on external link . Should you find the noise remains or if we can be of any further assistance please contact our helpline on 1800 239 766 or email your details through to auaskdyson@dyson.com. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 7pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm EST.
Best wishes,
Samuel
My Dyson DC 54 after a few minutes makes a very loud noise. It appears to be working fine otherwise. I wear ear muffs to continue vacuum cleaning. It's about 3yo. Cleaning out any debris from the appliance doesn't seem to make any difference. What should I do next?
Throw it out, you shouldn't have to wear ear muffs to vacuum . Shame on you DYSON!!!!!!!
my old machine did that as well …. at the bottom of the machine there is a little squishy tube ….. after completely pulling the machine apart many times the tube clogs up …. after sending the machine back to Dyson (after it blew up) I was told that I should have had the unit cleaned out by a service person..... I was not told this when I originally purchased it ($900) up in smoke …. literally
Hi Poida, Thank you for your question. A machine making a different noise is usually the sign of something obstructing the air flow. We would first recommend to run through the checks outlined on external link .
Should you find the issue persists we would recommend to contact our helpline on 1800 239 766 with your machine handy. Our helpline is open Mon-Fri 8am-7pm and Sat-Sun 8.30am-4pm.
Best wishes,
Samuel

My Dyson DC54 doesn't seem to get the dirt out of the carpet. Didn't realise how bad it was until I borrowed my daughters Hoover with power head. Very disappointed with it. Anyone know what I can do to improve it?
I was disappointed with mine as well. Apart from keeping it clean I haven't found any improvements on a (in my opinion) well marketed non proforming vacuum
i uncerstand you can buy a power head for around $100 (not certain) and that does a better job... but who would want to throw some more money down this drain?
I guess we might ask for an instore promo before we buy...
Hi There, Sorry to hear that you are experiencing a lower level of pick up than expected with your DC54. A common cause of lowered pick up is that there is a blockage of airflow through the machine.
Check the openings on the floor tool for blockages and use a long thin tool such as a skewer or knitting needle to clear the channels.
Please check the machine for blockages as shown here, please pay close attention to the section 50 seconds in, this part can be tested by dropping a 20 cent coin through the lower duct hose starting near the oval opening on the main body, behind the bin, if the coin does not come out, tip the machine over to get your coin out then proceed with the instructions in the video: external link
If this does not resolve the issue please reach out at askdyson@dyson.com.au and we will be happy to help you further.
Best wishes,

We had the same troubles with our DC54, we were sold this product as being the best for pet hair. First use of the DC54 was fine and then after that there was no suction and found as time went on that the vacuum was not picking up the pet hair.
Today we purchased a Hoover with a power head and vacuumed our floors with the Dyson and then with the Hoover and the amount of dust, hair, dirt and sand that we vacuumed up using the Hoover was surprising and to be honest disgusting!
Our carpets have only looked as good as they do now when we first built out house 3 years ago. (Note we have had our carpets professionally cleaned at least 5 times in the last 2 years and our carpets tonight have a better result because of the deep cleanse of the Hoover power head.
I would be very reluctant in recommending a Dyson to anyone with pets or high traffic areas who are looking at ensuring their carpets are thoroughly cleaned.
have accidentally dropped the shroud etc into the bin when emptying, came apart, how do i get the plastic bits together without breaking them?
Hi Tam, I am sorry to hear this. The bin should easily click back onto the shroud, just locate the two locating bumps at the front of the cyclone with the notches on the bin. The back of the bin will then click into place.
If you would like us to talk you through this, please give us a call on 1800 239 766 and we will be most happy to. Our Dyson Experts are available Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm AEDST.

I have washed the barrel of my Dyson with water, then released I shouldn't have done that. Once its dry will be ok and what is the best way of removing all the water?
Hi Donna, Thanks for getting in touch. If you only washed the clear barrel area, wiping it over with a soft dry cloth and allowing it 24 hours or so to dry will be fine. If the cyclone was washed, which may be red, silver, purple or yellow, this part will not be able to function correctly again, and will need to be replaced.
The parts can be purchased online from this page: external link
If this does not resolve the issue or if you would like to speak with us first, please call the Dyson Helpline on 1800 239 766, we are open 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 4pm on weekends AEST

hi, Does turbine head for DC23 and DC 29 fit on DC54 multi floor model?
Regards,
Deepesh
Hi Deepesh, Thank you for your query. Yes, the fitting on the DC23 and DC29 is identical to the one on the end of the wand of the DC54, so the turbine head will fit, however it won't store on the back of the machine.
Best wishes,
Shan

how do clean behind the shroud it has build up of dirt and dust behind the shroud not in front?
It took me some time and frustration. Somehow I had managed to get it unblocked with a number of different tools including an old wire coathanger, but what worked best was a strong flexible straw that came with a novelty cup from the cinemas. Due to the design I noticed things easily get blocked due to the narrow passage and the location.
Hi Slammer, To remove the majority of dust from inside the cyclone shroud 'holes', we would recommend to remove the clear canister away, then gently tap the cyclone shroud on a flat surface outside to dislodge the dust. From here, use a dry brush (such as your combination accessory tool) to brush the remaining dust around the holes. Please do not put water on the cyclone shroud as it will cause damage to your machine.
Kind regards,
Taryn
How do I remove the clear plastic canister to do this instruction.
You can see how to remove the bin of your Dyson machine here: external link While the machine may look slightly different to your machine, please be assured the process is the same. If we can assist further, our Dyson Experts are available via auaskdyson@dyson.com and happy to help.

Hey
My Dyson DC 54 Vacuum Cleaner
which I bought less than 3 years ago won't work. When I press the button it switches on and it starts working but it doesn't keep on as soon as I take my hand off the switch. What's wrong?
What do I do now?
Hi Jai, Thank you for reaching out on product review with your DC54 Multi Floor issue. When a machine's on/off switch is not staying down, this would need to be inspected and repaired by a service technician as the issue is electrical. So that we can arrange a repair, please contact our helpline on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekend from 8:30am - 4pm.
We are looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Our Dyson hasn't got enough suction anymore. We have pulled it apart and thoroughly cleaned it, we even unscrewed the cyclonic part (gold coloured) and thoroughly cleaned it. It works but not as efficiently as normal. There are no blockages. When you turn it on for the first 30 seconds it is fine and then it makes a loud suction pop and it is not as good after that. anyi ideas
Mine had no suction but I discovered I hadn't replaced the canister on properly even though everything clicked into place. Try reseating it?
Hi Marge, Thanks for your question regarding the suction of your DC54 Multi-floor. We would certainly not recommend to dismantle the cyclone component of your machine, although there is a small lower inlet hose which may be blocked.
You can find the troubleshooting showing how to check the floor tool, hose and lower duct hose of your machine for blockages via this link: external link
If we can be of any further assistance please don't hesitate to email us back or call us on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm.

Thank you. The video on cleaning solved our problem
The small inlet house near the barrel was blocked. My Dyson works perfectly now.
Hi,
We purchased a DC54 a couple years ago. Last weekend, we opened the side of the head carefully to detangle the brush- as it had stopped rolling. Now the cap wont go back on, and vacuum cleaner cant be used. Is there a problem with the heads working properly or manufacturing fault to not be able to safely maintain the machine, and can a repair or replacement be done?
Hi Tash I have not had this problem and so unfortunately can't help you. I did notice another post suggesting removal of some of the brushes so you could try asking them or alternatively starting with where you purchased the vacuum and going from there.
Hi Tash, Thank you for your question. We are sorry to hear this has happened. It is possible there is an issue with either the cap or the brush bar for your Turbine head. We would recommend to contact our helpline on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Mon-Fri 8am-6pm and on the weekends 8.30am-4pm. Alternatively you can email through your details to aucustomercare@dyson.com and we will be in touch as soon as possible to assist.

Please tell me how to empty this without it being a drama especially as it needs emptying every time I use it.
There's no easy way around it. My last vacuum was emptied the same way so I'm used to it. I always empty it outside over the wheelie bin so it all goes straight in but I still get covered in a bit of dust. I sometimes remove the clear plastic cylinder as well to get all the bits round the side. I still use my other vacuum because it's easier and this one only if I have to.
Ref: Model DC54 (Serial No.FY6-AU-FMA 3206A)
Please advise are there any filters we have to clean on this model ?
Hi GregS, The instructions do not show that there are any filters that need cleaning or replacing.
Hi GregS, Thanks for your question. The DC54 Multi Floor is one of our first Cinetic machines, which boasts Dyson's smallest cyclones with oscillating tips. The powerful centrifugal forces capture more microscopic dust then any other cyclone, which means there is no filters to wash or replace in this machine.
We hope this has satisfactorily answered your question today. If we can be of any further assistance please email us at aucustomercare@dyson.com or call us on 1800 239 766. Our helpline on Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm and over the weekends from 8:30am - 4pm.
