I guess you mean on opposite sides of a hallway. I hadn't even thought of that, but I guess, why not.

I don't know if it is normal to get quite hot. However, mine does get quite hot, but for me, it is not too hot.

Mine got hot but not to the point of burning you. If you leant up on it for a few seconds it would hurt. I have had 3 and they all cracked. One of them caught fire last year where the crack was. Shorted and tripped my power. It self extinguished quickly (as there was nothing else nearby for the flame to catch onto), but left a burn mark on the face of the heater where the crack was. I have since got rid of them all. They are dangerous and I don't recommend them.

We had Econo heat heaters - one caught fire and when I looked into it, I found they had been recalled. We got a replacement from the shop we purchased from. It was about 6 years after we purchased. We got new ones by different company- I think they said they were Gen2 so would not catch fire. Having said that, we now have smoke alarms in all the bedrooms as well as the living areas. The new ones are Goldaire. I would not buy them again. They are not warm enough.

I have 4 panels 2 have cracked in the middle! I do like my heaters they do keep my little Houso house nice & warm! But learning that can catch Fire......oh dear!

Well after 2 years its still going, the 1st one died after 12 months had to throw it out so I removed that and I put the other one in the same place. I actually love this heater jeeps my bedroom warm and toasty. Not sure why the crack happens.

When it cracks, the lasagne style layering in its contruction, is effectively delaminating exposing the electrical element in the once upon a time safe 'sealed' unit to possible moisture and therefore poses a significant electrocution if not fire risk. These units are seriously dangerous and ought never be allowed to be sold to anyone. Besides being ridiculously expensive to run. It may keep you toasty and warm now but nothing is going to keep you warm six feet under!

I am not aware of one available. If I had one Id give it to you because the 2 econoheat heaters will not be turned on ever again. Far too expensive to run. Unsustainable in enough ways for it to be prohibitive. Increasing ceiling insulation has proven a great step. Could always be better though but heading in right direction.

You could try Bunnings to get more information as thats where I got one of mine I know that there was two businesses making these. One of them stated that they were made in Sth Africa and the other made in Australia I had a feeling that they the Australian guy wasn’t going to make them anymore the one I got from Bunnings was made in Sth Africa. They are in South Africa but I heard they closed down. Don't worry about getting them repaired and just throw them away. VERY expensive to run and unsafe. No one seems to get a response from anyone about them.

Where did you hear this from ? Especially the unsafe part please.

They are not worth the money paid. Generally reviews are about them cracking and that their electricity consumption is much greater than they claim. At one stage I understand they were taken off the market and from other reviews that it is near impossible to get replacements or refunds. Check the reviews on TVSN.

At the end of every winter you will find them on sale somewhere. I know many people who have them, all are very satisfied. They don't claim to do anything more than take the chill out of the room. but if you keep the doors closed the warmth builds up considerably, great for bedrooms If you have a big room you would certainly need more than one. A 400w heater uses 400w of electricity. If you have a fan heater its 1000 to 2000w you can check with your supplier to see what they charge..

You're guess is as good as mine. I read lots of product reviews people stated that happened to them. Try to see if the store still covers the warranty I am going to do that even though I have lost the receipt. They may honour it and there is econo heaters that have been made in Sth Africa and others made hear in Australia the ones made in sth Africa have no response by phone or email as company is no longer in operation discontinued?
