Full Boar 750W Digital Drill Press Questions & Answers
MPN: FBDDP-750My drill has been working fine. Yesterday it grabbed the piece of metal and stopped. I have been unable to get it to start. I read about an interlock if the guard is knocked. Don’t have a manual. Any advice.?
Purchased one of these Full Boar units a few days ago, and also a 54mm Irwin forstner bit to use in it for some light timber cutting. The bit will enter timber about 1/8" then binds in DAR pine and the keyless chuck just keeps on spinning around the bit shank (at revs from around 500 to 1500 so far tested). The chuck jaws are leaving scratch marks on the shank. At 71yo it's a bit much for me to disassemble and take back to Bunnings, so is there an easy answer to the chuck slipping? Would a keyed chuck be more suitable?
Is the bit shank round? Is so the chuck can't get purchase on the shank. A hexagonal shaped shank would provide better grip to the chuck. If it is already a hex shank, then I give up... :-) Sorry.
It's round unfortunately. Full Boar solution is return the entire unit for replacement. They won't replace the chuck only. Grrrr
If you are gripping the chuck knurling at the top with one hand and tightening the jaw knurling with the other, that's about as tight as you are going to get it otherwise get a keyed chuck or a hexagon sectioned drill shank.
Yep, thought those might be about the only solutions, Thanks for responses folks.

Please where is the best place to buy a Vice to fit this Bench Drill Press? I live in the Hunter Valley NSW.
Sorry, I don’t know. I bought the drill press from my local Bunnings and didn’t look out for a vice.
Don't know. Try Bunnings or a Tool Shop or search online.
Have done those sites I was advised to go to Blackwoods.
Can i fit Square Tenon Transform Mortise Machine to my Full Boar drill
I have the 750w Full Boar Drill Press since yesterday. I seem to have a problem with the adjustable speed control lever located top right of the machine. It doesn't move, it seems to be locked in place. Is there something I need to do to make that lever work, and vary the RPM ?
Mick
Hmm. The speed lever is situated top left on my machine. Its not locked in any way, but does need the motor to be spinning before lever can be moved either clockwise or counter clockwise to vary the speed.
Same as Ian. And the speed is indicated on the red electronic display on the front.
A tip: The spindle comes out of the box wrapped in greasy paper. Upon 1st assembly you need to wipe the chuck spindle clean of any oil (and its seat) to get a good friction fit. Give it a good sharp tap home.
Sorry yes the lever is located top left but will not move in any direction
What size vice fits this drill press please
Doesit come with a vice?
No, it doesn't come with a vice. What you see in the above photo is what you get (albeit this image doesn't show the clear perspex drill guard!)
Thanks. In a promo shot it showed a person using the press with a vice. Just thought it may be an option. Cheers
No. But base has slots into which you can fit one (or connect a drill press table with fence if you want).
Thanks
How well do you think it will keep drilling in stainless for example without the belt slipping?
What size Morse taper do the Fullboar drill presses use? Is it 2 or 3, and is it the same between the bench model and pedestal model?
Sorry but I don't know and just fitted the 16mm chuck which is all I use. There is a manual available to download on the internet (or Bunnings site I think), or you might contact Full Boar here in Australia directly.

How good is it for steel
Haven't used for steel, only wood. Can't see why any problems with variable speed and size of motor.
Are you having any issues with the chuck or spindle accuracy? I have had two units where the chuck wobbles. The second is better than the first. The first unit drilled triangles in steel! Also, the digital readout failed on the first unit.
Funny you ask that. Things have been perfect since assembly. However I had the chuck drop off the arbor recently after using a dodgy crooked spade bit. Whacked it back up and then was using a drill bit with a hex shaft (as designed for power tools) and was getting a wobble. Didn't think I had mis-loaded the bit and so was worried that something was amiss - loose bearing above the arbor? Next day I came down and checked out with a standard drill bit (cause was going to phone Full Boar in Melbourne) and things were perfect. So at present my arbor/shaft is straight with no give and the chuck seems to be holding bits perfectly in line. Suggest you contact Full Boar product support on the phone - number in the manual (available online as pdf). Failing that, if not fixed, although it's bloody heavy, just take back to Bunnings tool shop and demonstrate the flaw and they'll replace.
PS. I have only been using in woods and not really hammering the unit hard or frequently.
Cheers for the feedback. Yeah, I just took the first one back today. Bunnings replaced no problems but still seem to have issues with this one. The previous one had the chuck fall off a few times too. I haven’t been hammering it either, mostly wood and just a couple of bits of steel in 6 months. I’ll try giving Full Boar(Ozito) a call. Ozito did a recall on their bench drill press due wobbly chuck about a month ago.
